My Grandma Sherrard used to use an old broomstick to make broomstick lace. That is where the name Broomstick Lace comes from. The ladies would use an old broomstick & a crochet hook.

There's a great book that is all blanket edgings called "Around the Corner" by Edie Eckman. Each edging comes with written and charted instructions.

I have pics of the finished afghan on my page if you'd like to see it.

We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

Alright, I have 146 stitches on my table leg now. I like how it looks, so I won't be buying a new needle. I'll probably use the ch-3, 5 treble in loop as edging. Maybe, you ladies might suggest other ideas before I do border.

The biggest needle I've found locally is size 15.

What is a good size for a broomstick afghan for a baby, and what stitch to use for border? I've restarted this at least 4 times now, and getting really frustrated with it. I'm using a leg off a table as the knitting needle, so I can't ask how many stitches. All of my other blankets, I add 3 rows of treble and weave ribbon through middle row, then some kind of ruffly stitch for last 3 rows.I think it wouldn't look right with all that extra border, so I'd like just 1 or 2 for edging--like ch 3 and dc 5 in each loop. Any thoughts?
