I checked the ravelry site and they have some very interesting patterns that people have worked, not just crocheting but also knitting and other areas. I found a crochet pattern for a quilt-like afghan. Once I finish all of my current projects I will give it a whirl.

And, do keep a independent list of your favorites in case of drive failure or (like I just did) purchase of a new computer. You never know when or what will happen. emoticon

Well, if you don't mind the advertising in the pdfs, there's www.freepatterns.com (not just crochet) and www.free-crochet.com , which are both owned by DRG publications AFAIK.

Also, so you don't have this problem in the future, I suggest putting all your bookmarks online at a site like www.delicious.com so if you have a hard disk disaster or do some housecleaning and suddenly discover that you need that bookmark you deleted to save space, you can recover them. I speak from experience re: the hard disk disaster.

I recently joined this site. Not only do they have free patterns, they have one you can buy. It's also a great site to see how the pattern is working out for others and what they have done with it.

Esmerilda -- it's OK - you can LOL -- laughter IS the best medicine, you know!?! But, here's the good news -- as I've been searching for new "replacement" sites to put into my address book, I found some I've never heard about before -- here's one for everyone to check out:

ndex1.html

Again, I realize I may be giving you guys sites you've known about for years, being that we're all pro crocheters on here (!!) -- but in case you didn't know about a site or you deleted your sites like I did --- enjoy!

Patricia- thanks for the sites -- 2 of the 3 I didn't know about! I've got them bookmarked and so happy to have them -- I found an interesting dish cloth pattern that was crocheted around a dish scrubbie --- really clever and something I wouldn't have thought about doing!

Thanks again for your help --

Did you try to Google--Free Crochet Patterns? there's quite a list to check out.

If you are looking for a specific pattern , like the one you mentioned , I did find one of those but it would take me a while to find it. Will try to find it and let you know the link.
Other than that Here's some Links you could check out:

How to Sew a Fabric Towel Topper: http://www.allfreecrafts.com/sewing/towel-
topper.shtml

another one: http://www.craftdrawer.com/Freepatterns/di
shtowel.htm

Here's the link that I was thinking about:

ectory/towel_toppers.php

Hope these are helpful to you.

Several months ago I got in the mood to clean off some of my "favorites" and made some poor decisions on which crochet pattern sites to keep and which to delete!! I was looking for a towel topper pattern yesterday and was shocked to see that my resources were extremely low --- anyone have an fabulous free pattern sites you'd like to share with me? I did a google search and didn't find nearly as many as I thought I would and now I'm bummed that I got rid of the ones I had --- what was I thinking that day I cleaned my favorites file?????
