What I learned today is that some people just want to cause confusion! At my team mtg today I have one team member who always asks 10-Qs for every Question. If I say: we are having a potluck at team practice WEds.Bring a dessert! She will ask at least 10 to 20 questions about it. all day long! well today at the team mtg things were no different, the prob is that they were the same questions she has asked before. OVer nd over again. Each time w'the same answer. When I got home I told hubs. He said 'Honey some people just want to hear themselves talk!" Hummm I got it! new concept! Have my mtg at the end of practice , start w/ my talk than ask for Q's after the mtg is over. Than the others who want to leave can. great mgmt tactic!

I forgot about this discussion, I used to love it. Today I learned that I don't have to take it in when hubs is a grouch! He came home super grouchy today I just cuddled up for TV with the gkids instead and enjoyed the movie.

Well speaking of pickles and spices..... when hubby goes hunting and gets an animal then he uses pickling spices and pickles the heart and sometimes the tongue of the animal. The kids and grandkids LOVE it all. I am not sure of the calorie content.....

Now this same man will NOT touch a carrot! HA!

Today I learned that there are calories in common spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. The spices aren't expensive for how much I use, but they aren't free either.

I'm gonna be eating pickles for sure! teehee. I know the small sundee trick, my fav dessert is Mc D cones only 150 cals and no chance to refill!

What I learned today is: That I can have it all! In moderation. I ate so many times yesterday that I thought "I am sure I ate so many cals that I am going to be embarrased to post it all" well, I logged it in anyways, because of my new dedication to sparks I did use moderation in my servings, that I ended up w/. a higher cal day but not near as damaging as I thought it was gonna be. Complete eating day only 1800 cals. woohoo.

today I learned there are no calories in pickles. I bought a good size jar of dill pickles this week since my daughter loves them and I havent purchased them in awhile. When I went to log them into my nutrition tracker.................. its ZERO calories. I tried all the differant pickles shown and YEP - they are no calories. AMAZING............... I have been trying to figure out some no carb dinner options......... and pickles are not a part of that menu . There are also some kind of zero carb noodles - I think its chinese - that I want to find. With a few go to low-no carb items... I can work on my cleaner - weight loss - eating.

Love this topic ............ and also I love that "small sundae" post. I agree - we can have it all if we just learn sizing and moderation.

today I learned that I can help my gson fix the mess ups he creates. he was supposed to work w/hubs (gpa) on the yards today and did so with not such a happy attitude. (he is 10) afterwards he came in all sad saying he messed up and gpa wasn't happy w/him. I told him to go out say your sorry and ask him if he would like more help. He did , and gpa didn't need any but gave him a big hug and said thanks. both were happy in the end.

Today I learned that I can have a small brownie sundae, feel like I satisfied the social eating commitment, and really enjoy it more than I would have enjoyed a large brownie sundae a year ago.

I also learned that when a friend says, "You need a bigger sundae than that," I can say, "No, I don't," and make it stick.

I learned something really great last night, I am married to the greatest guy and everyone tells me when I start to feel jealous or insecure that it is so obvious the guy is way in love w/you maci, People tell me all the time, Jim and I are a couple that something to admire, once in a lifetime etc. They tell me Jim only has eyes for you Maci, he is ga-ga about you. Well, I always wondered why do they say that???? Well, I saw it last night in the couple that was getting married, He is gaga about her and her lil son. I knew that is what people see. I get it, boy am i lucky. People always refer to us as soulmates, now I know why.

What a nice surprise to find a personal msg. thanks vintage! I forgot to write on this posting since it doesn't show up in my top 3 spot anymore, I wish there was a sticky topic on this one, it always made me reflect on my day and think about what I did learn today, soooo. I am gonna do it for Thurs and Friday!

thurs- I learned that w/the power outage, I am not ready! time to designate an emer shelf in the garage, my task this wkend!

Friday- I learned that noone cares about how good or not good I am at tennis, we are all just out having fun, they care much more about how kind and fun I am. We had a round robin this wkend. This is where our club picks one member off each team and plays against each other. When I was a B level player it was fun because anything I did was awsome, now I am the top ranked player on the team and the pressure to perform is emmence. Or so I thought. One of the players on another team was mean and crochety and to serious and that was the person others didn't like, not the top ranked person who messed up. (me) teehee. Our B player played awsome today! We came in 2nd of 6 teams.

I learned that I can have fun playing against really good players w/o feeling like a failure if I am losing. I lost 2 of 3 games today and decided that the defeat wasn't a failure because the girls I ended up playing were great players. woohoo.

I realized awhile ago that if you sit and eat with women who are slim and trim you will notice that they don't eat much. But they eat everything they want. I asked my cousin how she managed to stay slim and trim and she told me she has always counted cals secretly. I was amazed by that. One of my other friends will only eat a serv of each food. If we go for mexi food she will take her plate and divide it into exact portions on the plate w/o anyone knowing it. One taco, alittle bit of beans and rice and put 7 chips on her plate. I was amazed that they actually think before they eat. Eat w/stategy, that's a new concept for me.

Today I learned that I need to get my cycling done before it gets too hot. However, I also learned that it's better not to wait until evening and I can do it by noon, if that's the way it works out that day. And I did just that!

Awsome Moby! I learned today that my idea of exercise is completly OK! I told hubs that I didn't get in my ex yesterday so I have to get it in today. My commitment is 30+ min a day 6Xa wk. The plan is to take Sundays off, unless I just want to couch potato another day, than I have to move it Sun. Well here it is, I told him that I want to walk to the beach, 1/2 mi downhill. He says "That's not really a workout, I thought about it a min than said, It is for me!" Most my wkout days are extreme tennis, if I just make myself move one or two days than I consider that a big woohoo!

Today I learned that it is possible to run on my lunch hour. It requires organization, because there is significant time overhead getting to the gym, stretching, cooling down, and showering; but it can be done. (Okay, technically I'm still in walk/run training mode; but the lunch hour concept is viable.)

Today I learned that the way I think effects the way I play. I have a tendency to be meek when it comes to playing w/my new partner (tennis) I was noticing that because I don't want to make mistakes around her I play to easy and wimpy. Today I vow to hit harder and play my game, nomatter what, which is exactly what she wants anyways.

today I learned that it takes longer to get back to a regular exercise routine once you are away from it for awhile. I could not exercise much with bronchitis for 3 weeks - getting back to it rough.

I learned yesterday that I can take good care of my stuff. My hubs had my car restored and that meant all the scratches and things I broke inside fixed. I treat my car like I am a bull in a china shop and it shows. I have a beautiful car and it deserves better. I feel good when it is nice.

Yesterday I learned that seated calf raises to work the soleus are more important for running than I had previously thought. (I already knew about standing calf raises and the gastrocnemius.)

I learned that doing core exercises is helping to restore my balance. I began working with a personal trainer August 1st and she gave me my second full body workout with more core exercises than the first set. I included improving my balance as one of my goals. I felt great after our second session!

I learned today that I have some really amazing people in my life, and am really lucky, I invited 3 of my tennis friends to the shower and two of them showed up and really helped me, it was great. Plus my lil neighbor girl who was one of my scouts wants to run our reception rehersal and loves putting on weddings. Her hugs is going to photograph my DD;s wedding. woohoo.

today I learned that practice makes better - not necessarily perfect - but better. I am a ballroom dancer and one thing that keeps me from progressing is that I can not do multiple spins - ( like in the hustle dance). I just get nauseous. I have been watching some youtube videos for how to practice - and every so often I practice with the tapes. Hmmmmm practice is making a little better. Im thinking its also mind over matter.

Wow an alternative to tortilla chips! Now that got my attn! they are my weakness, I don't even need queso or salsa but if it's there, good bye, I will eat the bag or a few baskets full. Everytime I think I can have them in my home, nope! I'm wrong. What I learned today is that Tortilla chips, and , preety much any of the C's (cake, cupcakes, chips, chocolate, etc) cannot be in my home w/o calling to me from the kitchen at all hrs of the day and night. Grrrr what is good is that I can have them when I am in public and in controlled amts so I don't have to give them up, just not bring them in the house.

Today I learned about an alternative to tortilla chips (major weakness!). Brad's Raw Leafy Kale, Nasty Hot variety. So very filling, some crunch, lots of chew and great flavor! Nutritious to boot!

Grrrr I wish all dog owners would leash their dogs. It is just so unfair to others. Moby- 60 that is great!
What I learned today is: That I can consider changing my life, with the hope of it getting better. I am so afraid to change what I have always known. I live around all my fam, and live in the home I bought when i was 20. Not a big person of change, I keep cars until they rust away, and have memory shelves across the ceilings to store my fav treasures, If I didn't hate clutter so much I am sure I would have old artifacts everywhere. The way I decludder is i set up long tables every Jan and spend the whole month putting things on it, and reclaiming them, that I haven't used in a while or don't love. Than is Feb I let my friends and fam go shopping for free. I can do this! I will only be moving 40 min away and will have my own granny flat to come back to anytime I want to.

Today I learned that my dog is not ready to walk outside again. We suffered an off leash attack 4 weeks ago and although his wounds are healing, his mind is not. Another off leash dog approached him this morning (what is it with irresponsible dog owners who think it's okay to be out off leash??) and my little guy went into a full blown panic attack. I had to carry him almost a mile back to our home.

Today I learned that I can do 60 pushups, but I can't do pushups continually for one minute.

Still, 60 pushups isn't too shabby for the kid who could never do 20 in phys ed, and frequently failed to do 10.

MN- did you get your sale item? How nice!
What I learned today is that I can learn to do things completly differnent and even though it doesn't feel right , with practice it can be better.
In my pro tennis lesson today I learned to hold my racquet diff than used to and hit a new shot. at first i was completly lame (in the net) but after a few tries OMG what an awsome shot! woohhooo I can't wait to try it at team practice tomm!

What I learned yesterday/today: I can dream, plan, think about all the foods I want to go out and eat w/o actually having to go ge them. I was having a heart to heart w/hubs and was so hungry doing it, later I realized that I didn't eat anything. My emotions make me hungry but I don't have to act!

What I learned yesterday.... I learned that when my mom starts saying things I don't like that I can just shut up and stop! I did that yesterday , I excused myself and faked a bathroom trip. It felt good to stop the insanity. Take a break and regroup. Great choice. I think she got the hint because when i got back she changed the subject.

What I learned today is that I just cannot have tortilla chips in the house. I have had them for two days now,and it really limits what else I can have, because I can't seem to stop eating one serv. so I end up using a majority of my cals on them. tonight I used all my dinner cals on them and I would rather of eaten w/my fam. NO Tortilla chips again!!!

I learned today - that if I dont keep exercising - the body turns right back to flab. For me the scale is still down to134 ----------- but my belly fat is growing instead of shrinking. So by losing weight but not exercising.................. Im lighter - but flabbier. Back to working out.

I learned today that I can enjoy the popcorn to the fullest at the movies w/o butter flavoring. It was delicious. I totally scarfed it, I just made sure and put it in my log in before I left. 50 cals a cup, that's not bad. I decided to just make it my dinner yesterday. No biggie I won't die from one day of a popcorn dinner. Woohoo.

I learned today that I can make the decision to not eat the snacks on the table even though eveyone is eating them at a party. I went to the fruit bowl instead and grabbed a banana. Woohoo!

i learn something new everyday because i work in the computer field. the details of which most of you would find foreign or boring but it would be a solution to what i'm working on. working on a report for my team using a particular tool, i learned how to hide data because it would make the results shown on the report clearer to interpret.

I love rethinking about my day and pondering, hummm what did I learn today? It's amazing that so far I have found something everyday.
Today: I learned that I can really enjoy playing social tennis still. I was playing with some women that I was once very intimidated w/their play and since I haven't played w/them I can see my physical growth. I didn't have the urge to wack the ball so hard at them. it was really fun.

Today I learned that I can trust hubs to take up the slack when I am not able to be my best! He took complete care of gkids movie night tonight, he did the pull out bed, popped the popcorn and snuggled up w/them on the couch. I usally do all the preperations he just shows up. He did this all while I was fast asleep. Awsome!!

Yesterday I learned that in the most extreme drama I can not eat when the hunger hits. I lived through it.
Today I learned that I can do something out of my comfort zone and have a great time. I have always gone to outside stuff at night w/hubs or other adults w/me, tonight it was just Me and my gdaughter (8) we were so brave and awsome.

I learned that I really like doing/learning new things. I took a tennis lesson from a Pro today and I was so eager to try all the new ideas thoughts. One of the girls completly balked it all. and I was glad that wasn't me. I can't wait to try those new ideas out tomm. ~Maci~

maci------------------- thats a great lesson. I learned it too and discovered dry cheerios as my go to snack when I have to eat to soothe my soul. One cup of cheerios will do it for me. Lots of crunch - not alot of calories and it gives me enough think time to remember I am eating emotionally - NOT because I need the nutrition.

What I learned today! I still feel hunger when I am angry or frustrated and still eat to make myself feel good. I just need to choose wisely. Someday I may loose the hunger feeling when feeling not so good but for today, I don't need to try to be something I am not, I just need to take care of it the best I can.
Someday who knows I may crave a walk instead.. there is always hope.

What I learned today? I can endure anything. My mind is so full of things good an bad and I can keep going and still get enjoyment everyday from the small stuff. I can choose to look at things positively when things are really so negative. I can see the good around and thru the bad times. There is always someone with a more tragic story, life than what I am going through. What I know is:
1. I don't have money problems
2. I am athletic enough to play tennis everyday!
3. I have lots of people in my life who at least like me!
4. Everyone in my fam and friends are healthy enough.
5. I have a darling home, fun friends, a great husband and daughters who really love me.
6. My gkids think I am awsome!
7. I have sparks for free to help me get and stay healthy. Plus I like this team!
8. I am not alone, I have others to tell my sorrows and joys too.
9. My fam has eachother to get through the hards times with. We can do it, we've done it before.
10. If I look at life through the eyes of seeing the positives, it can be positive most of the time. These lil slings of hatred, fear, anger, revenge, rage, will go away!! I can do this life and if I stay centered than I can do it right, like I have done up to now! I may feel these feelings inside but I do what is kind and good on the outside and that makes me still a good person. That is my goal, to be the best I can be.

Thanks sher! Today what I learned is that "I can think outside of the box to keep commitments". It was 9pm and hubs had a movie for us to all watch, the sofa bed was pulled out, the jello was set up for our movie snack then the thought came.. Oh no! I didn't do my ex commitment today. I told my gkids to lace up their tennies and grab flashlights we were heading for the harbor. Brianna even went in her nightgown. WEll, I saw the harbor in a diff light tonight, the lighthouse was on, and it was awsome, it felt completley safe and there were familys there enjoying ice crm cones. Who knew, there was alive band that we walked by twice. We got home just before 10pm than started our movie, that is why it is 1am and I am doing my sparks. My commitments come before bedtime and I am proud that I am sticking to them.

well I really got to try out my new learning tools, when I got home from my DDs court date, I felt completly uncomfortable w/the feelings, I was so anxious and started thinking of every food place to drive through, than the things I have been telling you all came to me.....
"Look as hunger as a trusted friend telling you that you need or want something else" I ended up calling my a friend, that didn't work enough, than I called my dad, that was the perfect choice." afterwards I was able to come out and cook a healthy meal.

Today I learned to look at my wt in a new light. It is a symptom of reaching for food while going through a tough time in my life. Now, I can see it as a symptom of to much food instead of lack of personal power. It can change direction and come off, just as I put it on, one day at a time.

My daughter wanted me to hand paint msgs on glass cups for her wedding. I baulked and thought my writing isn't that great, well My mom came to me and told me to do it anyways, that's what my daughter wants. We did it today, She was so happy. She had me decorate the pictures for lemonaide, ice T, Water etc. she loves them.
What I learned today is to make others happy sometimes you just have to get out of your own way!!!

I learned today that the first person I have to be kind, loving and accepting of is myself. If I can't love myself, then how can I love others? Don't say anything to yourself that you wouldn't say to someone else. You deserve to have the best of yourself, to have that great cheerleader on your side. That's the team that's going to come out on top. Didn't some one say it's not important if you win or lose, it's how you play the game? That's how I want to live my life.

Favorite foods are almost impossible to ignore. If there's chocolate in the house, I will keep taking little bites until it's gone. My only solution is to keep my binge foods out of the house. It's so hard, but I know that just one taste will lead to many, many calories.

I learned today that certain foods will trigger a binge, if you are a food-oholic like myself.
I can't have just a little, I keeping eating until its gone and then maybe go to the store and get more. I need to find ways to avoid my trigger foods.

I learned that putting only a serving of tortilla chips on my plate doesn't work when the bag of chips is sitting next to me....next time, my husband can just keep that bag in the other room where it belongs!!! emoticon
