Looking at this topic - I dont see much activity here. Does anyone have any requests or suggestions for a team goal we should work on?

Lets hear it.

Usually for me, it's not that I'm really hungry, I just want something. So, if it's too close to bedtime and I should be through with eating for the night, I just chew a piece of sugar-free gum. Works for me very well. Some great ideas though and some yummy sounding snacks...especially intrigued by that ooey, gooey chocolate brownie...

I am the same way in the evening. In fact, I find if I don't have a little snack, I don't sleep well, so I always try to save back about 100 -150 cal for the evening. just knowing I have that keeps me from overeating at supper.
the yogurt and chocolate sounds good-of course chocolate ALWAYS sounds good to me! Stupid Question- do you eat it like that or microwave it, since you called it Brownie. Just wondering.
Really like to hear good healthy ideas for evening. emoticon

Night grazing
I have the same problem. It's as if my body doesn't even realize it's hungry until 8 p.m. Then, I'm tempted to grab anything and put it into my mouth. I've learned to have low cal, healthy snacks on hand. Popcorn, fruit, a few pretzels. On the days when I'm craving chocolate, my favorite is "No Pudge" brownie mix. Mix it with a little nonfat vanilla yogurt in a coffee cup and top it with some dark chocolate fudge sauce. A warm, gooey, chocolatey nonfat treat that I savor...

I'm new here as of yesterday, but I can already see that I could easily fall prey to spending WAY too much time on this site! I'm currently unemployed, but am a full-time student--so spending time on my class work would be a far better choice for me than posting and clicking.

That said, I can also say that I'm impressed with the community spirit here, and think that my decision was a good one--even if I'm only here posting for an hour a day, if that.

Thanks for being here.

I do something similar - I have 1/2 c berries mixed w/ 1/4 c cottage cheese and 1/4 oz or so walnuts most evenings. I also plan a 100 cal snack mid morning. I eat breakfast about 6:30 and lunch usually 1:30, so if I don't grab a little something between I'm starving and will be harder not to overdo. Works for me too!

Night Grazing....
I do it too. The thing I have done that helps me is to PLAN to eat again after 8:30pm which is when I tend to get the hungries again. If I keep track of my nutrients all day and "save back" about 200 calories, then I can reward myself with that cookie and cup of tea (I love the Kashi cookies), or that bowl of 100 calorie popcorn and the TB of peanut butter. Whatever works for you. I cannot avoid evening hungries alltogether, so this method works for me. emoticon

I was having a terrible time with being hungry all the time when I increased exercise. Someone told me to make sure to eat small meals every 2 - 3 hours. That has worked well for me, by the way. That is when I sort of fell into this method for eating at night and not having too much total for the day.

Night grazing.
Some people decide to brush their teeth and stop eating after 8.

That's sounds like a good idea. I haven't done that yet. If I make something, I make popcorn. I buy cut up pineapple.. it's really so sweet that I have only one chunk.
Log on after your "graze" and track the food. It might not be as bad as you think. Also, you won't finish the pint of ice cream if you know you're going to track it later.
Post how you are progressing with the grazing problem... lots of us have it, I'm sure.

I too have found that I'm spending a lot of time here. I enjoy it, but too much computer time is not good for me. I think I need to find 2 teams that I will be involved with and leave the others.
And in those teams, I need to decide which goals/challenges I'm going to participate in and discuss and leave the rest.
I know my friends here will forgive me. emoticon

Yes, I'm finding myself on here a lot - I try to go to bed by 9:30 and last night was almost an hour late, playing around on sparkpeople! But as I'm finding my way more it should get better :)

Tracking streaks only works when you add them to your "other goals " section. Go to my tools - hen other goals - and you will see where the streaks you signed up for report. Good luck.

I'm new as well - tried setting up the fitness and nutrition goals - doing something wrong! LOL - joined a couple streaks, but not sure if they show up anywhere but my page - I did eat right - got one 2.5 mile walk in, a few sets of modified push-ups and squats. I've got a cruise scheduled for my 53rd B'day in Sept - I HAVE to be in shape!!! LOL
All the help I can get is already appreciated!

I don't think I've tried this topic before. I noticed somewhere that sleeping 8 hours a night was a goal and then noticed in this group of messages several people commenting on that goal. Does anyone know how you get added to the members in that streak. I think it is something I could do or at least try to do.

Thanks, Gia, for explaining this to us a little better. I still would like to know when keeping track of goals such as intake of water on the teams that have that as a goal, there is a message in the long box and it says that it is tracked somewhere else but it doesn't show up as giving the credit to you for that day as far as I can tell. Can you help me out here??? Would appreciate it. Thanks, Vicki

I rarely if ever get 8 hours of sleep - I just don't go to bed early and I have to get up early to go to work. I tend to get between 5 and 7 hours. I don't feel tired from not getting enough sleep. I do try to get more and will try on weekends at least.

Hi! I am new but took on the challenge last week for the wall pushups. I did 645 in 5 days. I have started working on the new bathroom challenge. Only 10 so far but I am sure I will build that up in 2 weeks.
I am not sure how we track the short term goals and show the team our progress.

Good morning eveyrone. I didn't make it on my sleep last night but had a good reason. Had to get up at 5 to take husband to airport. He's flying back to work today. I will probably sack out early tonight and get more than 8 for tomorrow...want make me feel better today though. It's raining here and that makes you sleepy anyway. God bless, Ginny

Like the goals and have already signed up for consistently workout for 10 minutes per day. The next couple of weeks I'm involved with several different events involving lots of food and festivities. I joined mid April and have just gotten a good momentum going. It's going to be a real challenge getting thru the first part of May - especially the sleep part. After mid May things will settle down and will hop on board with the other two or any others the team comes up with. Thanks for giving the team some more motivation tools!

Being rather goal oriented and driven, team goals, as well as individual goals, really help motivate me! I joined all the goals for the teams I am on that have them. Many overlap, so I am not being over-motivated (as if that is possible). Thanks for all the work you do. Go Team. Sleeping 8 hours has always been a challenge for me and I am doing it, by hook or crook (sometimes I get up late for work, but so far, no one has noticed or complained). The biggest part of the problem is that on three weeknights, I have outside activities (Mondays-rehearse with choral group 7:30-10:00; Tuesdays and Thursdays-swim training 8:30-9:30), so I am rarely home before 10:00 those nights. I always need let down time................... I'm working on it, though! Snoring in Massachusetts!

Hi SDTALLY, on our spark team page look under Team Goals and you'll see our goals listed, click on join next to the goal(s) you wish to join, and it will take you to another page to make your goal entries.

Hope this helps,

Listed under "TEAM GOALS" is our #1 goal, because we are a 50+ team getting at least 8 hours of sleep per day is essential. This goal can be joined, and tracked NOW!

Introducing Team Goals

Hi everyone

We're VERY excited to announce the launch of a new feature, Team Goals.

What Are Team Goals
With Team Goals, SparkTeam Leaders can set up to 5 goals for members of their Team. Team members can then choose to "Join" the goal. When they do this, they get the goal added to their "Other Goals" page, and then their tracking totals go towards Team totals. We think this will make SparkTeams even more helpful and fun!

How to Use Team Goals
You can go to any SparkTeam page and find the "Team Goals" section under the Team Forums. You can then see any goals the leader has set. Note however that since this was just launched, not all Teams have goals. If your Teams don't have goals you can click here to see one that does.

When you want to become part of the goal, just click "Join Goal." As mentioned above, the goal will now be added to your Other Goals page. Note however that if your Team sets a Fitness Minutes or SparkPoints goal, you will automatically be part of that goal, since everyone on SparkPeople tracks Fitness Minutes and SparkPoints.

Something Else New - SparkPeople Specials (plus Other Health goals)
With the launch of Team Goals, we also added some other new tools to your Other Goals page. "SparkPeople Specials" are some goals that many members have asked about tracking, such as a step tracker. You can go to Other Goals and click "Add/Remove Special Goals." Note also that Team Goals can include SparkPeople Special Goals, and that if you are on multiple Teams with the same SparkPeople Special Goal, you'll just need to track once to update all your Teams.

Also on the Other Goals page you'll see a section for "Other Health Related Goals." Here you can add any goal that you'd like.

We realize that this is a big feature, and it may take seeing and trying it to fully understand. But, we think members will love it once you give it a try! If you have any questions or comments, please drop them on this message board topic discussing Team Goals.
