2nd week update--didn't get much strength training or any workout really. Been struggling with severe insomnia--barely sleeping and waking up tired every day. Hoping this new week will be better.

I am new here so I am trying to jump in.....

My goals for summer are to gradually work on exercise to be able to do 30 to 40 minutes a day of cardio and 3 days of strength training(right now due to pain in my body I can't do more than a few minutes at a time.

With eating to gradually cut out soda and sweets to where I have them as an occasional treat.

Make sure I get at least 8 glasses of water a day.

I meant to post this earlier this week and forgot! But here I am.

My summer goal is to focus on doing more strength training. My plan--strength train twice a week. emoticon emoticon

Week of 6/21-6/26--did weights on Tuesday and Saturday. I was very sore on Tuesday--I forgot to stretch so must remember to stretch after my workout and also on the off days.

Here's my first report (I assume this where I post it?):
I rode my horse twice today, once for half an hour in the morning, then for another 45 minutes in the afternoon. I also spent about 1 hour walking my dogs. In addition to that I almost finished planting my veggie garden.

Yes this is a great challenge

My goals are to do more swimming = I started out good just gotta keep doing it,
Keep going to the vitality center without fail twice a week = doing pretty good so far,
walk more outside = this is a bit hard I always seem to run out of time or no one can go with me and with my muscle disease I can't walk alone, but I am determined!!!!

I agree Houndlover, GREAT challenge! I too am trying to diversify. I'm off to a good start so far; this challenge should help keep me motivated and accountable! One of the BIG things I'm doing is getting reacquainted with cycling. Each time gets a little better. I also want to participate in some charity walks and/or rides. That ought to keep me busy! LOL!

emoticon I have signed up for senior splash [water aerobics] 5 x week & for sliver sneakers muscle strengthening 5 X week.
I doubt it is realistic for me to never miss my classes. However, I will say my minimum for each class is 3 x week. I need to consider that we may take some short day trips on week days.
I also have a goal of losing 12 pounds by September 23rd.

We will see who wins.

P.S. I did make it to both classes today, but tomorrow is our official start day!

45 minutes of cardio most days, and strength training three times a week. I will go for 60 minutes on at least two days of the week:) Since I want to change it up, I'm gonna let Richard Simmons out of his DVD case for a bit of sweaty inspiration!

Great challenge Linda, thanks for starting it!
I will try to diversify better than I have in the past. Some swimming, some strength training, some dog walking, some yoga, some ballet, some gardening, and a mix of horseback riding and running (my daughter and I go on trail rides where we switch off riding. I'm at goal weight but still would like to build some more muscle and get rid of some flab. I don't rely on the scales but just enjoy all the beautiful challenges exercise has to offer. I won't kill myself but I will enjoy that my body can move and challenge myself but not so much to get injured.
