Aldi has great prices on produce -- even organic. And they have started taking credit cards, so I can get reward points, too. emoticon

I got to know the produce man at the grocery store today. There was no produce on clearance like there usually is today. I asked him why not. He asked me what I am looking for. I said peppers and tomatoes. He said he will keep me in mind when he has some. emoticon

Get cookbooks and magazines from your local library. If you like something, Xerox it! Saves money on subscriptions along with the shipping and handling.

Are you familiar with FreeCycle.org? You sign up with a local group and can post what you want to get rid of (but don't want to sell or organize a garage sale because there aren't enough items), or you can ask for something you are needing. People even ask for computers and cars!

I get notifications by a woman known as Dian's Daily Deals...every Friday she sends coupons to use at Dollar Tree to get certain products for free. Really neat!

Yes, it worked. Were I one of those people who had a place to stash bargains by the boatload, I might want to swap coupons. We are, however, only a household of two with limited storage space. I did learn that most coupons come out about the time, or at the most 6 weeks before an item will go on sale. It's great when there is a coupon for a "loss leader" and it turns out to be almost free.

If you want to throw a party, do bake potatoes and have a toppings bar. Atleast you won't grow broke! Nutritious, cheap and filling.

Husband likes fried rice, so I put the leftover veggies and chicken in that. Shake some frozen peas and corn in, too.

If you have leftover veggies in your fridge:

dice them up
place on flour tortilla
sprinkle some cheese
wrap them
spray skillet with cooking spray
heat skillet
fry on both sides until golden and cheese is melted

Serve

AKA: Quesadilla

Simply Google "Overseas Coupon Program" and the website will explain what to do. The coupons go toward the military overseas where they can use expired coupons (up to 6 monthes past expiration date) at their store.

Please explain the overseas coupon program. We used to save our expired coupons for the church and they would receive money for them. I had forgotten about that. Right now I'm at least recycling them with my papers.

If you don't want to spend the money on crockpot liners, when food is stuck to your crockpot, fill it up with water and baking soda. Leave on HIGH for an hour. Crockpot wipes clean!

You can also micro-bake potatoes in less time with less electricity by piercing the potato skin, then placing it in a wax paper bag (which you've saved from the cereal box) before "baking."

My time saver housekeeping tip is to set the timer for 30 minutes when I come home from work. I clean for 30 minutes and that's it! Keeps the house clean all week until my day off for heavier jobs.

Time saver: have a bin/basket sitting by the door of the room you are working/cleaning in. If an item goes elsewhere, put it in the bin. After you're finished in that room, take the items to their proper location and take the 30 seconds to put them exactly where they belong, just not somewhere in that room. Saves you so much time not having to hunt for it later.

there is a really good app called Ibotta that gives real cash rebates on groceries. I use it and cashed out 25.00 on an amazon gift card but you can get the cash deposited too to your bank

You know how you squeeze and squeeze a tube trying to get the last bit out? Now I cut it in half when I'm ready to throw it away and did this yesterday with my face cleanser. There was enough jammed in there to last another month.

I've been throwing away $$$ for years.

It is not always easy to tell where sites originate.
I know that a lot of the HGTV & DIY tv programs are originally from Canada.
Also some from Great Britain.

I have looked recently, but in the past, I have used Canadian medical centers in Toronto, etc., as sources for medical information. I used to teach a nurses' aide class. I supplemented it with info from that site. It was excellent.

TipNut.com is a do-it-yourself site for saving money. They are based in Canada.
Some of the sites I posted in Frugal Tips & Suggestions are marked OK for Canada, but most of the freebie and coupon sites have a separate site for Canadians. Sometimes they have a link on the US site (look at the bottom or on the site map).
You can also use Google to search for Canadian freebies.
