NewKid54I am delighted with your new tradition!! How precious to spend that time with your sister and cards at the 99 cent store ....WOW... pure joy!
My answer for the question is - yes, my heart is content, at peace and filled with the love that Came down at the First Christmas...It's the Birthday of my KING .. alleluia is how the angels sang and I join them! Christmas can come everyday!!!
Linda in WA state *John 10:10b Jesus came to give me life, an abundant life!
My sister and I decided we are sending Christmas cards to those we wanted to show our love. A new thing for us. We found very nice cards at the 99 cent store--69 cents for 15 cards! They were nice cards with Christmas songs written inside. We bought them out!!! We spent an evening together cooking and filling out the cards. We wrote how much we appreciated them--writing about special times, family jokes and future plans. Sent them out and Christmas was done for well less than a dollar a piece. And, we spent some quality time together--away from our families--a real treat. This has become our new Christmas tradition. No more gifts or excuses--just fond wishes and a message of love.

I started today, when I was at the St. Vincent DePaul thrift store. I love this store - it's new and very pleasant and clean, and well-organized. I bought DD a brand new set of exercise bands for $1.49, since I am trying to encourage her to have good health habits.

it is now july and i am starting to think about gifts . .. I need .. I have two grown children and each of them have three children . of those 6. two of them have children . so i have six grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren . to that's 15 oh, 17. counting spouses .. have to budget and see what i can come up with .
My checking offers free gift cards on the things you purchase, so I use them to buy Christmas gifts. My son has 4 kids so I combined the kids gifts and got them a swing set, we live in warm weather year round, using gift cards, for him and his wife i got them a pull behind thier bike that you put kids in it, for Christmas all this is free, I just got another grandson a big ride in car.
We've cut our Christmas list way down, but I still like to include a fair number of family members. For those on my side of the family, I've taken to making goodies for them. They seem to like that, so I'll do that again. One thing they really seem to like is zucchini bread and DH wants to plant a garden this year and include a lot of zucchini. That would be great since it's so expensive to buy.
Shortly after this past Christmas, DH and I were shopping for a pot I had asked for, but he had forgotten to get for me. When we were about to check out, he noticed some neat Christmas platters on sale. They were very colorful and only 50 cents a piece. He said they would be great for piling on cookies and my zucchini bread and then giving as gifts, so we bought a bunch. I'm all set now.
I haven't made baskets in a while, so I think I'll do that again. I have all the supplies I need, I just have to have DH and DS clean off my table in the basement and I can make some baskets that can be filled with little items or just given as is. Great gifts. I make as many gifts as possible every year. It's fun and saves a lot of money. It just takes time, so I have to start in the summer.
