I wish my man would get in a de-cluttering mood! He's going out of town in Oct and I plan on ditching a bunch of crud while he's not around to see what I'm doing! :)

I bagged a couple pounds of clothes to give to drop off, nad several pounds of other junk. Hubby's in a de-cluttering mood. Yesterday I came home to a brand new living room. He had completely changed everything around.

I wish I had joined this challenge! I did probably manage to get rid of a pound of paper today, however, looking for something that DBF lost in one of his many many piles...Maybe tomorrow I'll dig through some more paper and get rid of it tomorrow and make it 4 lbs! Paper is heavy!

I'd better get busy -- haven't gotten rid of my pound yet this week! I don't count recycling, since I do that anyway.

I know I have enough to take a load to the thrift store & donate, so I'll get that done tomorrow.

Tossed out a pair of Crocs that shrank in the sun, recycled a stack of newspapers, took newspaper bags to the park for dog-walkers. Foisted zucchinis on people trying to sell services door-to-door!

I have a book shelf with old magazines.
Mostly saved for recipes or menu ideas.
I am trying to get rid of thsm and should just stack them up and take them out. I tend to try to reread them.
My goal is to have them gone by next Tuesday.

I won't have time any other day.
I lost some manuals over the past month. They should be near the computer. So, I need to get serious about organization in this room.

Today I went through part of a closet & IDed clothes I don't wear because I can't & wouldn't wear if I could -- some are in a bag to be donated (at least a #) & others I'm planning to sell on line, since larger ladies clothes sell well -- they're so hard to come by in decent styles & colors!

Yesterday was my big declutter day.
This time, I didn't throw out as much as I put things away.
The bathroom - everything was put in the cabinet that had been sitting out. [And I cleaned the counter top.]
And, I had filled two with items that are now out of season to put in our storage shed in the back yard. More like 30# of stuff.

I've been doing this for years, LOL. We home school so books and other things accumulate in our small home, but every time I have a church consignment sale, home school curriculum sale, yard sale, etc. I gather all the things I have boxed up and try to sell them to bring some extra income in.

Right now I just decluttered my daughter's excessive Barbie collection and am trying hard to get her to pare down her toy box items. She doesn't play with all of the things in there, but she's not a fan of reducing what she has accumulated, so it's difficult, LOL.

Definitely got rid of at least a pound of 'paper' clutter in my office, by focusing in a VERY small area of my desk -- and also found old unused CD-ROM disks, etc... created a whole new 'empty space' on a very useful shelf :-). Like this!

Great challenge idea!! I've been working hard at getting on good positive *joyful* routines to make my daily life go more smoothly-- and one thing I did was make a very clear 'chart' on computer with a daily 'clean up' job for my dear husband. He has always preferred my *writing things down* for him, rather than 'nagging' (and I'm promising a 'surprise treat' for him with a good 'score card', so he's game :-) ). Today HE did the 'clean up the van' job-- and found our grandson's hiking boots left in our van... those could have stayed for months! I also found a granddaughter's jacket... and will mail these off to them in a couple days (after the hurricane passes thru!).

Went grocery shopping yesterday--had to clean out refrigerator to make room for new stuff. Got rid of produce and leftovers that were not up to using again. Does that count as a Declutter achievement?

I had said that Tuesday would be my decluttering day.
I probably did some straightening, but not as seriously as I just did. DH will be thrilled because I just reorganized our desk and filled a wastebasket with a stack of mail & outdated coupons.

I found some really useful Kroger coupons, including one for a bag of frozen veggies, and several for discounts on frozen items.

I kept my promise and spent the best part of today organising stuff. Gathered my knitting yarn stash (some bargains I couldn't resist, some inherited from my mother-in-law when she stopped knitting) into five large storage containers and promise I won't buy any more yarn until two of the boxes have been knitted up. Sorted some tins and plastic containers, put them out in a big trunk on the balcony. The only thing I threw out was a pile of empty cartons, but it's amazing how much more space there is now that things are better organised.
I'm so exhausted, in the past I would have reached for a beer now but I'm being good.

emoticon emoticon I am probably the worst (or best) procrastinator, so I have lots of decluttering to tackle...I will have to go about this systematicly. Actually, today is a good day to begin making a plan to declutter my life. I am a "list" person so I am first making a list of areas that need decluttering. emoticon Then prioritize each task and choose a day of the week to spend on that chore.

Some of my plans for decluttering involves(1) clearing out my closet of clothes I have not worn for a year or more,(2)shredding and trashing OLD papers that have accumulated,(3)recycling old magazines and phone books that are in my way. These are a good start and should keep me busy for September. Now I just need to choose a day that works best for me--Oops, there goes my procrastination again--Perhaps, I should just get started TODAY!

Linda

I'll have to bow out of this challenge.

I did most of the de-cluttering when I moved here a few months ago -- and this place is only two narrow rooms.

I didn't need to unpack everything immediately, so I've done some creative decorating with the storage boxes.

I don't think there's much here that a guest COULDN'T see as soon as they walk in -- IF I could fit a guest in here.

And, unfortunately, I still need some things so I wish I could see what some of you are going to have at your garage sales.

I don't need to de-clutter; I need a bigger (affordable) apartment!

Great idea! I have some serious decluttering to do.
Husband complains about my hoarding and shopoholic tendencies and although I've told him repeatedly that I buy/keep stuff to fill an emotional void, this does not change the fact that our flat is not very big and I have to at least organise the junk better if I can't quite bring myself to part with it all yet.
I'll do some tomorrow.
