Just thinking of this, I have many no spend days if I'm not out of gas. Last purchase was groceries Friday & gas last Thursday. I almost never buy coffee at work, since I work in a mall, and the walk to get coffee cold cause me to buy other things.

Well done everyone! I too have had many no-spend days lately. Today was also a no-travel day. And we made crock-pot soup with barley, all the remaining veggies in the fridge with about a pound of beef roast and a lot of garlic. Delish and super cheap! Tomorrow I have things to return to the library (so will pick up more free entertainment) and car maintenance(BOOO but will save in the long run I guess).
Good luck to us all!

Jodi

I had a goal of 12 no spend days for February and I got 11 no spend days. I am happy that I made it that close! My goal for March is still 12 no spend days because I know that I will have a lot going on this month. I just need to work on consolidating the spending into fewer trips. Mindful living.

Hoping that the weather improves so I can get going on the vegetable garden. That will keep me out of the stores and stock my freezer at the same time.

Soup for dinner today, no meat. Probably black bean burgers on the side. Even kidlet likes those!

Will be eating out of my freezer for the rest of the week!

Went to Walmart, saved $6.50 in coupons, bought mostly food. They're sugar-free Crystal Light-style orange drink is a real bargain. They have instant brown rice, too - the house brand.

you should put half of your $300 away each month and later buy yourself something you won't have been able to affored..... Then cut something else know matter how small and save that money for a special meal out.I print coupons and am saving now for next xmas. It's fun to see my xmas saving grow with money that would all ready be spent.

I am going through the Sunday circulars and will pick up a couple of "free after rebate" and BOGO items that I use. I will be out doing other errands so I will try to consolidate everything and save gas.

- a "spent-no-money" day today

- made a cheap but rich soup out of fresh veggies and a little buttermilk

- we went nowhere, so no wear 'n' tear on cars or gas

I reuse my plastic water bottles constantly. I rinse them out, using a bit of bleach to kill disinfect.

I hauled wood this weekend, as we heat with wood. Also recycled some donated fabric into quilt tops, that will be tied for casual use ... not "heirloom" quality, but they work to keep us warm and cozy.

Wanted to tell ev1 I started a new team! The idea was to put all my challenges & interests in 1 place (besides my spark page), instead of haveing them scattered on seperate teams!

I was gonna make it private, but then it wouldn't show up on my page. So, I left it public & made a thread under the Introduction titled 'CHIT~CHAT', for any1 that wanted to stop by & see how I was doin & post their tips, ideas, & or comments!

I hope no1 thinks I'm obsessed with my self, I'm not!!! I'm just trying to get the best use out of spark, for me!

The name of the team is weezie u r gr8 n *08! So stop by anytime you have time & ck it out & post your coments on the CHIT~CHAT thread

Clotheslines are a great energy saver. Have had them for years in all of the houses I have lived in over the years. I told my young neighbor that she could use ours whenever I wasn't using them and she at first said she would never want to do that! A couple of weeks ago I came home and she had her clothes hanging out and has been doing it ever since. She loves it too. We are both saving energy and getting exercise as well.

That's a great thing to do. My grandma used to make lap blankets out of her extra yarn and donate them to a program for the elderly.

I need to get on the decluttering band wagon, though. Maybe I should make an accountablitly thread...hmmmm something to think about!

We recycle all cans, paper, glass, etc. I used to hang my clothes out to dry all the time but with working and trying to take care of my hubby I haven't in a long time. I went though all my fabric and donated alot to a church sewing group that makes lap pads for nursing homes. I also donated alot of craft items to their kids group. I now have to do some more downsizing so they will be getting more donations.

I just realized today that I was doing something frugal. There is a biking trail about 30 minutes drive from my house that I went to all the time last year. This year I haven't been there once. I have been doing all my biking leaving right from home!

Clotheslines are a great, low-tech, time-honored way to help the budget and the environment. I love mine, and find I feel better about life in general hanging clothes up and bringing them in smelling good.

My own early teenaged son is autistic, and has all sorts of sensory issues, many of which kicked in when we started making out clothes all "stiff and scratchy" from the clothesline, as he put it.

You can let your kid know that if a child with profound sensory issues can get over it inside of just two weeks, he probably can too. Sometimes I find exploiting the adolescent male tendency toward competition is a great strategy.

Installed a clothesline and we are using it to dry clothes. My teenage son is still on a rampage about how the towels feel "itchy." Grrrrr...sometimes I think it would do him good to have to live without any of his conveniences for a week and then he would appreciate what he has. Kids!! Wow, Farenc - that's great financially, environmentally and fitness-wise. A three-way win.

Not much yet today, but yesterday I planned some meals to take on vacation, rather than relying on restaurants. And went to the library to pick up some light reading for the trip, rather than the bookstore.

This is probably more like "What frugal thing have you done this year?"....

We just moved into a new apartment that will save us $40 per month in rent, and we are now literally a block away from my husband's job, less than a block from a grocery store, and about 1.5 miles to my job. We will save about $300 in gas per month walking and biking instead, not to mention helping the environment and getting more exercise on a daily basis! YAY!

Yesterday I had some errands to run. My neighbor needed buns, so I picked them up for them. It kept them from having to make the same trip as I was. So in a way, I was being frugal for someone else.

Some of my favorite foods to make with pumpkin are pumpkin soup and pumpkin pancakes. I still have one bag in my freezer from last summer. I just might have to thaw it out and use it one of these days. emoticon

I cooked a whole small pumpkin yesterday. Yesterday I used part to make a little pumpkin side dish for our supper and put marshmellows on top (like sweet potatoes - can't get those where I live, marshmellows neither, but happened to have a bag from someone who bought them at an import store in a big city). This morning I made two loaves of pumpkin bread for breakfast with the rest. Mmmmm!

Today I am doing some batch cooking. I have a chicken in the crock pot that will feed us for at least 3 meals, and I also am making a big pot of chili. It helps me save money at the grocery store when I have my meals planned for the week!

Hi, I'm really excited to have found this team. I've been striving for a simple lifestyle for years. My husband and I feel it is very important for ourselves and our children.

Every Monday I'm not serving any meat. We are not vegetarians, but I felt that this would be a good way to be a little more inventive in my cooking and save a little on the food budget.

That's my frugal activity for the day! Thanks!
