A good idea, Newkid... I have stockpiled creams and cosmetics too much. Some of these products do not keep forever, ha ha. So I am deciding to use what I have before buying anything else. A hint I learned from a magazine article is to use my face cream on my neck area also. It is important to moisturize the neck as well as your face.

Rejoice in each new day; it is a gift!

I went around the house collecting unused or partially use hygiene products. I use to be a cosmetic and skin cream hound. Instead of throwing out unused face products, I am using them on my hands to take away lines and sunspots.

I also lined up partially used bottles of shampoo and shower soaps in my bathroom--for quick retrieval and use----to every last drop.

Lastly, I cleaned up an old plastic make-up bag and put old make-up (old never used lip gloss, power etc.) and gave it to the little girl next door.

I made slow cooked oatmeal with my own fruit. While I was eating breakfast I made myself a commitment that I am going to eat this whole week with meals made only with what I have left on the shelves and in the refrigerator. I am not buying even the most smallest and inexpensive item. I am going to sit here, do an inventory and make out my menus--may even have enough to make it through two weeks.

Oh I am just delighted to have found all these "saving tips" and I thank the Spark members for sharing these good ideas!

A reminder that I want to pass along... On Jan. 22 the U.S. mail rate increased from 44 to 45 cents for a first class letter (postcard and other rates also increased)... However, if you had purchased the "forever" stamps, you do not have to add additonal stamps. At work, I sort incoming mail and to my surprise, I see that many folks are using additonal stamps to their forever stamps. If there is the word, "forever" on your stamp, you don't need any extra postage. A wise tip is to always ASK for the forever stamps when making stamp purchases.

Rejoice in each new day; it is a gift!

I created menus from left overs and the pantry and freezer.
Supper included a hamburger dish called Maid Rites using hamburger and buns purchased a few days ago. But it includes celery, onions and several items in the fridge.

I buy yogurt with the plastic lids, after we eat the yogurt we wash them up and reuse them.
Some are used for lunch box for my husband's, lunch box coleslaw, potatoe salad, three bean salad etc..
Then some are used for his nasty habit he chews. After he is done chewing he put the lid on then put in the trash. "Nasty"

I made lasagna using spinach (from the store) and kale from our garden.
Kale has a chemical in it's leaves that prevent it from freezing well into winter.
I picked it right before we got our big snow.

Freezer meals are so good - already been tested once and so convenient and I consider those days as "no purchase days"

Groceries just keep going up and I missed the sale circular this week so feeling at a loss how to plan my shopping. will just make it a minimal purchase day and peak at the add when I first go in the store - I don't think well on my feet so I try to plan shopping ahead of going.

We are eating out of our freezer again tonight. I had frozen rotisserie chicken and dressing that I have unthawed and will serve with cauliflower and pickled beets.

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

Big pot of chicken noodle soup From scratch so gluten free and 2quarts cost $1.25 [included some left overs from other meals] for 3 quarts!!! So 6 big bowl of soup for us to enjoy with alice of bread and fruit on the side.

When I figure the cost of something I figure new items going in by planned servings - so the noodles were left from pkg of lasagna but I had accounted the whole pkg of noodles when I made the first meal so counted these as free. The veggies in the soup were some left over and some fresh cur and sautéed together. does that make sense?

I used a couple of packages of frozen ham leftovers today - for lunch to make DH a BBQ ham sandwich and for dinner to make us Sparkpeople's Crockpot Potato and Ham Soup, which we think is good. I am trying to use those frozen leftovers so that I can defrost my freezer to move it and to save $$$!

Yep, the healthy leftovers are about done - time to start making new meals - planning how to cook bread, chicken, squash and small roast all at one time so oven only runs once, the shortest amount of time... tomorrow is the day to do that but must plan today.

Since i live in household where No-one, except me , eats leftovers, I have been nibbling the past couple of days on leftover veggie and fruit trays. I have not had to turn my stove on since New Year's eve. and is all yummy goodness for me :)

Making sure I am using the squash an dpotatoes that we have in storage room and not letting them go to waste like happens so many years. Not the best for diet food but if daily use it for starch, it cuts down on servings of grain I have to buy!! Balance, balance, balance seems to be the key to so many frugal efforts.

Well it was really last night but I went to my favorite double coupon store and bought some cheap and profit-making items. I also got some pork roasts for $1.49 a pound since meat is so expensive and I have a new crock-pot (bought on Black Friday so got an awesome deal) it will mean cheap meals.

The profit making items were 2 bottles of vitamins that were on sale buy 1 get 1 free. I had $1 coupons for each bottle and then received a $5 electronic coupon for buying 2 of them. I think I made $3 on that deal!

Stayed in so I wouldn't use gas, made a pot of veggie soup from scratched with what I have on hand that will last me about 4 days and doing my laundry. Unless it's an emergency, I am only allowing myself to spend $$$ 3 days a week and only for what I need. The hardest thing I did today is refuse to lend my son money. It broke my heart--had to do it emoticon emoticon
