As I wave goodbye to January, I am not any different in weight (up or down a pound or so depending on how you count the start???) but I am proud that I kept on doing things that needed to be done even while being very busy. I am happy about the new February thread!

January is coming to a close and i am happy that i worked at making it count!However my progress is very slow because i regularly sabotage myself. So this is a tough one for me.
I hope to make some progress on that account in February.
The focus that this thread represents for me is a great help!

I did post to one of the MANY threads complaining about this new practice. I haven't noticed it recently, so maybe they listened???

Well here we are at week FOUR! I'm focusing on my behavior goals and trying to get my weight down back to pre-trip levels (sigh) and of course my period is coming this week so... I WILL see the 180s soon. I still have a bit of hope that it will be in January, but either way I think we'll need a February thread too, no? :D

I am really proud that I did days 11 and 12, tracking and experiencing hunger. I did plan my meals for one day -- part of my goal for the month. Things happened and daughter and her family came for a dinner unexpected so I thought well, I'd eat it the next day. I had the same breakfast and lunch. The next day my husband brought home fresh fish, so had impromptu meal plan change. Finally ate my planned meals on the third day. I'm going to try again. I could just cook for everyone else and make mine separate, but like both those days the things everyone else was having made good healthy meals for me and it feels friendlier to all eat together. If they are having something unhealthy then I might have something else. So I hope this doesn't sound like excuses, but meal planning may be a real challenge for me.

I hate the new SP practice of making links out of our words. I don't mind having ads on the pages because something has to pay for this site, but I really, really don't like these. I want to read what people are saying, and this makes me think the person highlighted the word ... weird!

I like to think about that experience where it is hard to stay in range when you have gotten way off. That happens to me as well, and I think it is a good thing to remember. I like that steady feeling when it is not hard to eat within range. So in the future, I hope i can remember that learning experience! When I overeat, I don't only have to ask myself whether it is worth the calories, I have to also ask myself if it is worth putting myself through the upcoming hungry feelings!

Oh JUDI I have definitely learned that lesson! The past six months have been a stream of pulling myself back on track-- that's the ONLY reason I haven't gained weight in the midst of all this instability. I give myself tremendous credit for that.

And I stuck close enough that the main struggle has been getting my appetite back down again. I know it will be better after today (day two of tracking/staying in range). I woke up ravenous this morning and was starving again by lunch. I'm eating very very careful and focusing on whole grains and filling foods.

And just because I'm feeling like a challenge I think I'm going to do a Jillian Shred's workout today emoticon

Well, we do what we can, Heidi. I think that we have learned an important lesson through Beck that if we get all bent out of shape every time we can't be perfect, we would have quit a long time ago and we would weigh twice as much as we do now!

I'm doing pretty well. I'm in a "too busy" spell again though. I hope I can get caught up. I have a list of cooking projects that I need to do to keep on track. Tomorrow, the stir fry veggies. Today was the hard boiled eggs. And there are others...

January is marching along ... and we are making it count!

well week three ended up being a crazy drive across southern Ontario, two days in Montreal for a wake and funeral, and a day and a half driving home. No logging, eating was not completely terrible, but hardly great either. exercise was rare. So, I'm spending this weekend getting back on track. Today is Start To LOG AGAIN day.

I had a better day today. I am not giving up on January! I have been on a roller coaster of whether I am doing my good choices or not. But I am not giving up, and today was good, so why shouldn't there be a lot of good days?!?! Right?

I'm going in the wrong direction again. I was starting to get back to "normal" after all the visitors, and now I am swamped with school starting.

My goal is to do the Beck book, but not necessarily in 6 weeks. I want to do it well, not necessarily fast.

My first challenge is meal planning. Just have not done it. I plan on the fly. It has worked for me, but I think this is my best opportunity to improve my eating habits and nutrition. So my goal for the rest of January is to plan one week's meals and stick to the plan. We'll see how I do!!

I expect to be back to my happy weight of 126 (BMI 20.2) probably in January and then I start the tightrope again of maintenance. I can do it!!

I am charging on into January, finally on track! Tomorrow I will swim. Today, my eating was good. One small indulgence I had was a cup of cocoa. I made it for my students today, and when they left, I was throwing out all the rest of it, and I took one cup for me. But I did NOT eat the chocolate chip cookies!!! I am very proud about that!

Tonight, I might write again in my journal, but for sure I am doing it every two to three days. I am not going for perfection. I am just staying ON TRACK and being completely done with all of my vacation eating!!!

Checking in for Sunday & Monday...

1. Planned food Sun. but not Mon.
2. Sun. reduced portion sizes, but I warmed up too much leftovers for dinner (once it gets hot and spreads out there is so much more there!). I did leave quite a bit of food uneaten. Mon. I did awesome with portions!! emoticon
3. I have been sitting for all my meals and snacks. I did not eat any of the kids lunches while I made them today!
4. Did a 40 min. trail run Sun. and my 75 min. p90x workout today.

Goals for January:

1) track all food
2 stay on track with calories/fat/carbs/protein averaging 1300-1650 per day
3) exercise at least 30 minutes daily
4) I will log in every day and read my advantage cards as often as I need to.
5) I will read a chapter in the Beck daily.
6) I will write in my journal at least 3x a week.

I would love to join in this challenge to help me get back to basics this January. I am going to make these goals realistic and do-able. I know if I follow these, I will not only see some pounds lost, but also head in the direction of food=fuel instead of food=reward.

1. I will plan my meals and snacks the night before.

2. I will reduce my portion sizes so that I feel hungry before my next snack/meal. I am not counting calories this month. Instead I will focus on eating small portions of healthy foods to fuel my athletic lifetstyle.

3. I will sit down to eat. I cannot continue to snack and nibble while preparing meals for my family and cleaning the kitchen.

4. I'm training for a half-marathon and finishing the last 4 weeks of p90x, so I'll be exercising a lot. But that isn't really a challenge for me like the food is!

I have a lot in common with Rachel's list. For me, the tracking in advance is key. I will start doing that again very soon (when company leaves). Also, getting to bed on time is an issue for me!!!

Hello all! I'm so glad to see you renewing a challenge thread for January. I'm in, of course! Like many of you the Nov-Dec challenge helped me to minimize the damage. Weight-wise I ended up pretty much where I started off but I'm taking that as a victory. My goals so far for January are about the same as always... Exercise regularly, eat within calories except for once every week or two PLANNED, and log daily. This is not new or exciting, but I struggled so much with these basic steps in the last two months that I know I still need to keep the focus here. My job market stresses will continue, as will (I hope, I hope) the traveling challenges. I will use this thread to post my calories and exercise. My goal range is 1650-1850.

My "weeks' in my ongoing tracking begin on Monday so here goes:

Jan 1-2
Saturday: 1,688cals 34 minute brisk walk
Sunday: 1,767

WEEK ONE Jan 3-9
Mon: 1,663
Tue: 1,752 2 miles Leslie, 6 weights, 3 abs
Wed: 1,868

Fri: 1,998 travel day AND interviews-- I am very happy with this number given how stressful this day was!
Sat: 1,858 lots of walking...2.4 miles at least
Sun: 1,813 travel day

Tue: 1,795 50 minutes wiiFit plus weights and crunches

today is January 1 and I want to start this yeaer in a positive manner and iwth a good effort -- these are my goals with new ones added

1) track all food
2) exercise
3) stay on track with calories/fat/carbs/protein with 1440 per day
4) according to WW I get about 1400 extra calories spread out over the week which i will honor
5) I will go to Weight Watchers every week on Tuesdays -- If i can not make a Tuesday meeting I will go some time else during the week.
6) I will lose consistently each week.

My goals for January:

1.PLAN menus ahead of time and PREPARE meals (this is a biggie and i have slacked on it )
2.Stay within calories range (1800 max)
3.walk/or Leslie Sansone at lest 5 times a week
4.continue with Pilates which gives me more body awareness and helps me be more flowing in my movements (i am quite brusk)
5.and of course plan to go to bed around 11 if not sooner.

well i did somehting i have been thinking about for a while -- i changed my spark people and am reinvented as dancingqueen105. my list is the same for the new year.

OK, I'll write some goals too! (It is not my usual thing ... but I do like the idea of being accountable ... so here goes...)

For the first few days of January, I will continue "coasting" while my visitors are here. I will track all food, as I always do, but I will not be doing my "serious Beck" work.

Then, somewhere between Jan 6th and 10th, I am going Back to Beck once again. I will:
- Write in my journal every 1 to 3 days
- Track food the NIGHT BEFORE on most days (let's say 5 out of 7), and always track by the end of the day, making any adjustments.
- I will put my exercises ON MY CALENDAR for the week ahead, being sure to get three visits to the pool (unless there is a very excellent reason not to, like me getting sick or a funeral or something...)
- I will go to the Daily Check in almost every day, sometimes every other day.
- I'll report back here at least once a week.
