Even though my pc crashed and I haven't been posting, I've still been working on my Add and Subtract. I continue to find inspiration in some of DR. WAYNE W. DYER's Daily AFFIRMATIONS

No one is capable of making you upset without your consent

After a month I realize that I must continue to practice this to help me overcome years of old habits. I do not view this as a chore, but as a way to "Feel Good"

I am going to try to start a new habit of logging foods that I think I am cheating by eating. I often try to ignore them, and then it gets worse. I already had 2 chocolates this morning (I know, bad idea) and was ready to eat the entire box. But if I log them in (actually only 120 calories) it doesn't quite seem like all is lost.
Next, the subtract habit is to quit the snacky food.

You haven't failed unless you quit trying.

This challenge has succeeded in keeping me away from Coca-cola and sweet tea. I still have a 41-day streak for that "subtracting sweet drinks" goal.

For drinking 8 cups of water per day, my longest streak is 10 days, but I did poorly yesterday, so I gotta start today on a new streak for the water habit! Guess it's not enough of a HABIT yet!

Alright so I am at:

Stay within calorie range: 3 days (it helps that it was upped due to my exercise)

No eating in front of computer: 0
I need to be more mindful and stop using "I'm tired as an excuse" for that one meal. Today will be my first streak day for this.

So for the habit to add I have a one day streak looking to make it two with today.

The computer thing has no streaks. I do good with breakfast and lunch but dinner seems to be an issue. I plan on eating no where near the computer for tonight so that I can get my first streak in.

Day 3

The negative voices are already starting to decrease. I feel a sense of calm and confidence. Reminding myself that I can choose how I feel and react. Breathing helps me make the transition from negative to positive.

I have also talked myself out of going for ice cream before going to the pool. I remind myself that it is a want... not a need and to wait to see if I still want it went I actually leave for the pool. the delay helps.

First of all - I plan to keep my April habits going and to that I will add:

Add: Slow down my eating

Subtract: Rushing - that means I've found myself rushing everything lately and that adds to stress and fast eating so - this isn't going to be easy but I want to really slow myself down and do the important things the right way.

I like this challenge - it really helps to focus on improving yourself one skill at a time.

I would like to add: slow down, mindful eating - fork down and wait between bites

Subtract - thinking that food is the answer when I feel physical pain. (chronic foot/ankle problem)

Add: Analyze my day every night. What did I do well? What can I do better? Did I flex resistance muscle or did I have a sabotaging thought? Did I do strength training? Cardio?

Subtract: Candy. No candy at all. No Hershey or peanut butter cup miniatures. Zip, nada, nil, none.

Streak: 1 day for both Today I gave myself a B+. Good food control and cadrio; -0- ST

I've been working on both of these, but end up 'catching' up my food log at the day way too often.

Sneaking the food sensitivities less will help me heal faster, and possibly get to add them back in to my menu guilt- and damage- free sooner rather than later (or never).

I would like to add the habit of drinking more water. I don't feel ready to commit to 8 glasses but I'm usually pretty bad about this, so adding any will be valuable!

I would like to subtract the habit of reacting with a feeling of RAGE when people don't do what they "should". I am not sure how successful I will be at this! But lately, I am just so angry at so many people (particularly students!!!!)

Would you like to stretch yourself a bit and take a couple specific steps toward your goal of a healthy lifestyle? Here's a challenge to kick off May to an energetic start!

Pick one habit to add. Pick one habit to subtract.

FREELADY
habit to add: I will drink 8 cups of water each day.
habit to subtract: I will not have any sweet drinks.

Let's each try for a personal best and keep a streak going. Even when we break a streak, let's still post the best streak we've had. Just for example . . .
perhaps your habit to add is, "Exercise 30 min. per day." You could share that your current streak is 3 days. But give yourself credit--and encourage the rest of us--by also reporting that your best streak so far is 9 days!

Let's cheer each other on to take a new step!
