February goals met. I am grateful to Moonshadow145 for setting up this challenge. Many days I did not feel like planning my food ahead and logging everything I ate, but I did it because I knew I had to report here! Likewise, since I had to do at least 10 min. exercise every day, once I got started I often ended up doing more. The accountability was very helpful to me!

No S Diet is from a book by REinhard Engels, but he has had a website where much of the information is free.

http://www.nosdiet.com

No snacking between meals, no second servings on any food item at a meal, and no sweets--except sometimes on days that begin with S.

In the book, he goes into more detail regarding why those habits are the most logical to attack. I first came on his stuff about a year ago in October. It took me over a year to fall off the wagon, try other things again, and then finally come back to it to commit to it for a year. I never thought I could stick to 3 meals a day, 5 days a week, but I can and I love it! I love getting hungry between meals and I love eating one plate of what i want, chewing slowly, savoring my food. MMmmmmm! I tried eating 5-6 meals a day for YEARS but it never kept me from bingeing, which was my real issue. I've overeaten some on a few weekends, but I haven't binged for over a month. Beck would not approve because you don't have to plan each meal ahead of time, but I've kept the ingredients for wonderful, "good fat," high fiber meals around just about all the time because that's what I enjoy most. It was between meals that was my problem. Now I just don't even think of myself as someone who eats between meals. Big change. emoticon

Thanks OOLALA53!

After two years on Best Life and Beck, and just hitting the 50 pounds lost mark, I DEFINITELY advocate for higher calorie weight loss programs. I don't feel I'm on a diet and I don't plan to change my eating habits at all (other than some slight downward adjustments as needed--only once so far!) I really could do this forever

Moonshadow, I like your calorie goals. A person can live with them. Sounds like you are. Setting the bar too high, especially without working up to it, just seems to be a set-up. emoticon

This has been working well for me. I've decided I'm going to start a new post every two weeks and edit with each for that period.

I am tracking calories, and noting when I go over or under my nutrional goals. My calorie range is 1700-1900 and I plan to go over once per week or two

Week Three Calories Over/Under
Monday 1,741 none
Tuesday 1,849 "
Wednesday 1,924 slightly over calories
Thursday 1,602 under cals, carbs, ptsm
Friday 2,004 over cals/ft/chol, under carb
Saturday 2,681 over cals/ft/chol (planned splurge)
Sunday 1,734 Slightly over chol

Week Four
Monday 1,904 slightly over cals, potassium
Tuesday 1,753 over on chol, under on carb
Wednesday 1,881 in range on everything!
Thursday 1,819 slightly over chol, fat, under on carbs
Friday 1,936 slightly over cals but, oddly, not on anything else
Saturday 1,782
Sunday 2,270

Heidi

January/February Goals updated.

1. I will visit my diet coach Sylvia at least one time. (still not yet)
2. I will get back on the No Sweets wagon (with my same exceptions as before, fortune cookie, sugar free gum, mints, and cough drops.) Update Jan 18, I took a handful of Cinamon Toast Crunch cereal, and I have decided that this is NOT ok for me to eat. Update 1/23: last night I ate a TON of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, so I reiterate, I CANNOT EAT THIS! What was I thinking. I reaffirm that I am stopping the sweets again!!!
3. I recently made a ton of appointments for health maintenance. I will keep all those appointments and I will consider whether there is anything I did not schedule yet (such as a MAMMOGRAM!) Update Jan 18, I went to the gyne. Got info about scheduling the mammogram and bone density. (Went to new Knee doc and have appt for an injection).
4. I will set up an appointment to be diagnosed for ADD. (Still not sure who I am going to see for that.)
5. Some things I always do anyway are: track my food, post on the boards just about every day, eat mindfully.
6. Need to work on Drinking Water and Getting to Bed Earlier. Not sure if I want to commit yet! :-) (DH and I are helping each other with the getting up earlier and getting to bed earlier.)

Sparkfully Yours, Judi

I am going to plan my food for the day and check it off as I consume it. If I don't eat a planned item I cross it off and write in what I did eat. I take these steps before the food goes in my mouth. That is the plan. This is a Beck step and I apparently skipped it; probably thought I could short cut the system.

My goal is to do this every day for a week without exception starting Saturday. emoticon

my goal is to keep tracking my food every day and excersising 6 days a week(unless i'm sick). My calorie range is 1200-1500. If I can do this daily and not cheating no more than 5 times I'm treating myself to a pedicure at the end! (the good kind, with the nice leg wrap and everything!!)

14:1490 calories and 2hours of excersise
15: i had 1790 calories but I'm not counting this as cheating because it was simply crackers because I was so sick it's all i could hold down! And before I felt sick I did do 30min of Insanity.
16:860/no excersise (still sick)
17:1390calories/35fat g's and 30min walk on my lunch break
18:1350 calories/45fat g's and 2hours at the gym
19: It was a cheat day for food. It was me and my husbands 10yr anniverasary of being together and we ate Chinese food. But I did work out for 2 1/2 hours this morning!
20:1492 calories and 1.5 hours at the gym

Hi to All,

My goals are to track calories, and exercise daily.

I just got a Bodybugg and my daughter is setting it up tonight. So I have to get those calories burned.

***** Does anyone use the BodyBugg? Do you like it? *****

I will be tracking my food on this sight since it gives you such a good breakdown.

Will let you know calories for today this evening. Had early morning appointments so have not exercised for 2 days

You are right. It will just erase the text and not delete the whole post. But at least it shortens up the real estate that it uses up.

p.s. I like that quote about frustration. Very wise!

I want to make a suggestion. Oolala made me think of this idea.

On threads where we keep editing our old ones, I never really go down and read what other people wrote because it is just listed as "edited" and it doesn't show who has been writing lately.

How about if we go to our old one, click on edit, copy it (to be pasted soon), then erase the old one (so it won't take up space and lead people to read one that is not the latest). Then go to the top and "reply" and paste in the update.

I am going to try that right now...

This may sound confusing, but my point is that I would like to be able to read people's updates without going too far back.

I've recognized my need for accountability. I updated my original post this morning. This challenge kept me in line yesterday afternoon when I was thinking about spontaneous eating.

Is this challenge helping to keep you accountable? Are you updating your original post daily? How are you tracking your progress?

I'm getting ready to stay accountable. My starting day for tracking the goals I set begins tomorrow.

Each day my plan is to update my original post on this thread the day after I track what I eat. Lol, I'm even thinking about giving myself a star for each day I'm in range. How's that for accountability?

Good luck to everyone, let's stay accountable together!!!

my goal is to keep tracking my food every day and excersising 6 days a week(unless i'm sick).

Well, I did everything yesterday except stay within points. I had my first latte and it put me over. I guess I should just stay with regular old coffee.

I will check in to the site and post something everyday,
I will track my food, and stay within my range of 1400-1500.
I will exercise for at least 30 min,

Had set a goal to complete the whole month of January according to the No S Diet with no binging on the "free" days (not Beck approved, but here we are.) I have been successful for the first 13 days. I am starting the accounting on Day 14 today.

I will be tracking my food on this sight since it gives you such a good breakdown.

Will let you know calories for today this evening. Had early morning appointments so have not exercised for 2 days emoticon

Alright, I'm jumping on board here! I started these Jan. 7th.

1. I will work through the Beck book, posting my days as I go through them.

2. I will log my food at least 4 out of 7 days each week, staying within my calorie range. I'll work my way up to 7 days, but I haven't been logging at all, so 4 days/week will be a big improvement!

Here is my goal. I will be dedicated to writing in my food journal and not quit journaling in the middle of the week. No matter if I eat healthy or stray off. I will look at my weight success 25 pounds at a time instead of the whole picture. I will keep a good positive attitude, If not I will talk to someone about my feelings.

1/15/2010 Well, I went to weigh in at weight watchers last night. I gained. But I figured that I would. Have had one leg on the wagon and one off. I promised myself that I will get back on my program today. So far so good. I started my journaling this morning.

By the way, I would like to have a diet coach, like they refer to in the Beck diet solution book. Does anyone like to be my diet coach?

My goal is to continue logging my food, staying within my calorie range (1700-1900 with a plan to go over by a few hundred once every week or two.) I plan to do this here for four weeks.

WEEK ONE (Jan 11th)
Monday: 1817
Tuesday: 1906
Wednesday: 1845
Thursday: 1766
Friday: 2406
Saturday: 1695

MY WEEKLY AVERAGE WAS 1906!

WEEK TWO (Jan 18th)
Monday: 1,667 under on calories, carbs, potassium
Tuesday: 1,899 over on cholestrol (eggs , shrimp)
Wednesday: 1,897 over on cholesterol (eggs + shrimp)
Thursday: 1,885
Friday: 1,889 under on Potassium
Saturday: 2,454 planned splurge: obviously over on calories, also fat and some other stuff I can't remember!

This was inspired by the recent four-week food logging challenge that a few of us wanted to continue working on, but we'd like to open it up to any Beck-related goal or behavior you want to work on and report to us about.

You can start anytime, pick a length that works for you.

Post to this thread with your goal, then edit that post daily, or whatever works for you, with your progress.

I'll start mine as an example ...
