Well, my eating wasn't great-- bread with every meal (our neighbor brought us a loaf of her homemade whole wheat) and I actually came far under my calorie goal which is not great because I usually end up overeating the next day. I kept meaning to eat more, but held calories for the cookies, then only ended up having two. Anyway here it is:

Breakfast: egg w/ extra white, 2 ww bread w/ butter, soy milk with tea (348)

Lunch: Chicken on toast w/ lite cheese; peapods and cherry tomatoes; banana and two clementines (485)

Snack: soy milk w/ tea (100)

Dinner: Cheese sandwich and Shepard's Pie (Clean Eating) (486)

Anything Goes: 2 Mexican wedding cookies (150)

Total 1569 (131 under)

Very busy day, Church. Then to my granddaughter's dance recital. Then to the Mall and WalMart to finish shopping.

Ate a lot of carbs.

I was trying to go low today and thought I'd made it, but realized I forgot to log the sandwich thin with my snack... still came under tho, just barely :D

I know how tempting it is not to log when you know you've gone over but its soooo valuable! First, it lets you kno the calorie value of your go-to foods, which helps me make better decisions later on. And sometimes the "damage" really isn't as bad as you thought.

My calories vary a lot. Plus I do lots of unplanned eating so I estimate 200 calories over the actual tracked amount.

Today, I'm baking cookies for the family and for Santaland which our church will be sponsoring on Sunday. I'll leave Sunday for my work week and not return until Christmas Eve, which will keep me away from the cookies. Today, is my only cookie baking day this year.....I hope.

posting my meals right after dinner helps too... I went to a knit group last night and there were homemade candies and other assorted treats out. But I knew I was only 20-something calories under my limit and I knew that one chocolate would be 35-70 calories, depending on what it was so I ignored it all. Knitting helps too, because it keeps my hands busy.

Saw a new low yesterday, back up a bit today but I'm sure it will go down again, hopefully in time for my official weigh in :)

Great Eating Control! Herbal tea is a perfect idea! I used to do this when I lose 30 lbs! stop eating after 6pm and drink only herbal tea! I'm trying to go back to this habit now! emoticon

Sue - I hope your friend is OK... Great job w/the cookies!!!!

Today - range 1600-1900
Actual 1826...

Half the house cleaned, grocery shopping trip #1 done, prep cooking done for wild rice hotdish, cranberry salad and strawberry sauce for the cheese cake done :-)

All that chopping and fixing and I only had two tiny tastes of the strawberry sauce to see if it was sweet enuf!!! Beck's habit of eating only when sitting down really paid off -- it didn't even occur to me to munch while I cooked (a year ago? whoooooole different story!)

time for a cup of tea... aaaahhhhh....

Moonshadow145 - thanks about the info for Olive Garden.
Our plans changed, my Buddy Mary had a stressful exercise sessions and had angina. We cancelled movie and dinner at Olive Garden. I made 6 different kinds of cookies, wore myself out. A little tastes, but no binge.

Good going to the whole team....we can dot it.

ICANDOIT-- Olive Garden has all their nutritional info online-- did you know they have whole wheat pasta you can substitute for any pasta dish? I usually get the salad with no cheese or croutons and dressing on the side-- makes it very very healthy to pile on. Good luck!

BECK-- I love my tea habit, it helps me stop eating in several ways and I've gotten very gourmet with my tea choices

Okay, today I'm feeling a little overfull right now. Slept late so had bigger meals than usual but calories came in because there was no time for a snack...

Brunch: omelet w/ one egg and extra white, mozzarella cheese, two ww toast /w butter, 2 pears (644)

Lunch/Snack: salad w/ chicken breast, blue cheese, ov dsg; 1 ww bread w/ lowfat cheese spread; 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds

The day was good, dinner was a larger portion than planned, couple extra squares of pizza, a more expensive dessert choice. If I'd stopped to think about it, the choices were right there but I didn't. Oh well... Giving myself credit for going back and tracking it -- keep myself accountable.

Today, I can track my food and post here in the morning.

Our big holiday dinner is Sunday so I've taken a vacation day today to clean, grocery shop and then cook all day Saturday. Oh yeah, there's the practice for our Christmas program at church (I play piano for it) and then Sunday morning the Christmas service and Sunday afternoon the dinner - 30-35 coming - we haven't all gotten together in about 10 years so this will be lots of fun!

Then Monday morning is weigh-in -- that will be good motivation to stick to reasonable eating throughout the weekend.

Take care everyone - stay sane... I'll try to stop by to post my calories for today and tomorrow. Sunday I'm not going to track...

Day 4 - a good day, made out well w/cookie baking. Had 2 cookies, small size.

Calorie Range 1400 - 1600
Calories today 1456,

Tomorrow its a Move and dinner out. I think we will go to Olive Garden. Not too bad will have salad and probably chicken parm, get a take out box and divide it before I start. Let you now how it goes.

just time for a quick drop by today...

You all are doing great!!! What a cool thread -- ideas, encouragment, preparation, portion control, tracking and successes just flying around! WOOHOO!!!

I too was restricting my calories too much in an effort to "jump" back into good habits... So, I'm going back to 1600-1900 as of today.

Yesterday, I tracked throughout the day and was doing fine and got home last night, tired and hungry. So, I stuck to my "general meal plan" of dinner w/dessert, made home made (low sodium) slopply joes with potato wedgies, had 1-1/2 (just one bun) and had 4 christmas cookies for dessert.
I didn't count calories cuz it'd be guesswork but I was probably at about 2000 for the day. That's OK.

I'm giving myself credit for last night cuz I didn't abandon ship! :-) I had my dinner & my dessert, ate reasonable portions and was done. It felt good. And now I've tracked my food plan for today and it feels reasonable and doable at about 1650 calories.

Keep up the great work everyone!!!

Total Calories: 1364 - Went over by 164

I brought in eggplant parm and I'm not sure if the calorie count I tracked is accurate. I was thinking about eating half the portion, but it was just too good and I didn't. Eating half a portion works for me when I eat out because I'm uncomfortable when I feel too full, but somehow I like the full feeling when I'm home and relaxed. Oh, well.

I did additional exercise so I may still be in range.

Today I'm back on track.

It was a struggle but I came in 11 calories under my max. I limited myself to just one of each cookie and 1 spooinful of dough. It wasnt the cookies that almost got me-it was my mom's homemade chicken and dumplings. Oh they were so good! And I limited myself to one cup of wassail.

I did much better today. I think my lower calorie made me feel to deprived and so I overate yesterday.
Had my advantage cards in front of me while working and went over them. I think that and raising my calories to 1400 to 1600 is better.

My calories for today 3553 and my range 1400 - 1600.

So far today I have had 900 calories. The Boy Scouts are coming tonight with presents & goodies.

blech, went over today... too much candy! I didn't have a big enough snack so came home hungry and couldn't stop eating quite in time:

Oh ladies! I am going to bake Christmas cookies tonight unexpectedly...

I am trying to prepare myself by
1. eating a protein snack before hand

2. deciding to choose which cookies I will sample

3. Wear snug jeans

4. Maybe an extra bit of cardio to help out.

Its a live-it not a diet. I have got to learn to strike a balance!!!

This is one of my favorite family traditions. Usually one of my gfs usually comes over and bakes with my mom and me.

ICANDOIT-=- Everyone is different but for what its worth, I weigh about the same as you (210) and I'm losing weight at 1700-1900 cal/day. Its slower, but I know for sure I can maintain this calorie level for life, so I'll keep it off.

Calorie Range 1200 to 1400 calories,,,, I ate 1931 calories. I was going to have just one home made chocolate covered peanut cluster. Well. it didn't work I blew it.

I think I will put my calorie range back to 1400 to 1600 calories. I think I feel to trapped and diety at the lower range. I know in the new Beck book my range is 1800 & over.

BECK-- I second your advice about giving yourself credit. That is a powerful one. Its easy to criticize ourselves, especially comparing to other people here, but keep the focus on what you did right and how many positive changes you are making. "Anything Goes" is from the tracking system here--best life used something similar, and I find it very useful to include but control treats.

BLUESKY--You're a fellow bread-lover I see! try eating a bit more for lunch tomorrow-- especially protein and whole grains. I find that helps me not over eat by dinner. Good luck! Its hard to be surrounded by food, I know!

This was a more normal day for me in terms of the meal distribution. I did have my "anything goes" calories in the middle of the day, which I generally try to avoid because it always means I have to be very careful by dinner, but it worked.

Dmitri - you're so right -- we just keep going...

Today for me - in range, 1432 calories

I'm getting used to these dinners on this one-week kickstart plan - some chicken (or fish) and 1.5 c green vegies. At first I thought it'd be really gross w/out any sort of sauce at all, but... not too bad. I might incorporate this as a long term habit. It's good food and super low cal for supper.

Have a great night everyone -- I'm off to a chem final! With some healthy almonds for a snack (already counted in my cals for today)

Hey Amy -- start with the Beck chapter on giving yourself credit -- I think that's one of the most powerful things we can do for ourselves, even w/dissapointments.

What did you do WELL yesterday? What do you (or can you) feel good about? Give yourelf credit and move on with that positive reinforcment...

BlueSky -- good for you for tracking and posting - even when you had to estimate some. Now you've got a good starting point and a better idea of where to tweak your eating habits!

So, give yourself credit for being aware, counting the number of each thing you ate and writing it all down. Those are all critical habits to success in this crazy weight loss journey.
emoticon And then, pick just one habit that will have a positive impact. Like maybe take just 2 of a treat, enjoy it, and then distract yourself. Maybe walk away, talk to someone, do some dishes, dance to some tunes, grab a cup of coffee...

Gotta get back to work -- had to come here for some motivation to stick to my plan. It worked! Now I'll distract myself by diving into my work task until it's time for lunch at noon.

Actually I did 1292kcal yesterday, I want to keep my calories on 1100kcal I find it too hard for me! my job is stressful & i struggle resisting emotional eating!

Don't know about Mazzy but I am in a wheelchair with only one limb that works. If I eat more than 1,000 I gain. So whether I want to eat more I have to reset my mind to really decide if I am hungry.

Glad everyone is turning in their calorie amounts. YEAH to everyone if you made your goal or not.

Amy (SweetOrange) -- go get 'em!!! Great job on doing whatever it took to stay in range! Did you hit 1300 cal exactly? Every once in a while, mine comes up exact too and it sort of cracks me up - that with all the variety in what I eat, it coms out to a round number...

That's so true -- and as soon as this is written, I'm getting up AT ONCE, and going to walmart to get my healthy food for the day. I didn't go last night and I know I'll do better if I'm prepared... Cindi - looks like you had plenty of room for those unplanned calories. Good luck with tracking every bite today and seeing how it comes out! I bet you'll be just fine... There's power in knowledge and journalling every bite gives us that knowledge.

Gwynnie -- I think it's awesome that you've got an accurate calorie count and it's so close to the range you watned to hit. One of the things I really like about journalling is that if we want to change it, we can look at all the details and shave a few calories here and there. Or, it may be very appropropriate to change the calorie range. As Dr. Beck encourages in her second book, strating with a higher calorie range and being consistent is acttally better than starting too low and giving up. I know my calorie range next week will go back to my more normal 1600-1900. Let us know what you find to be your best and most doable calorie range -- 1200-15oo or a bit higher - maby 1400-1700? Great job on tracking and posting!

Posted calories were about 969, but I did some snacking that didn't get tracked. I plan on about 200 calories for unplanned. I'm not sure that is a good thing.

I'm going to try for tomorrow to be a little more on target and less of the unplanned snacking.

I'm going to adjust my calorie range - I really do know better than to try to eat under 1400 calories - I just end up starved and crabby after a couple days. But 1400-1600 I can do day after day and I will lose weight on that, so my new calorie range is 1400-1600...

This first week, I'm doing a kickstart program (1 week only) so four mini protein-berry-1/2 banana shakes through out the day, one additional snack and then a nice (but plain) lean protein and green vegie for dinner. Tonight was chicken and broccoli a half thin bun.(Check out my nutrition tracker for details.)

And of course, a single dove dark chocolate for dessert - 42 calories.

Today was within range - 1455 calories

Okay, I'm done eating earlier than usual tonight because I have water aerobics in an hour. I hope I'm doing this right

Breakfast: one whole egg w/ extra white, ww toast and butter, banana, hot tea (331 calories)

Lunch: Thai restaurant: brown rice w/ chicken and veggie curry plus a few bites of dh's veggies and noodles with light sauce (559 calories)

Snack: apple and orange (108 calories)

Dinner: ww pasta w/ shrimp and spinach w/ parm cheese; salad w/ veggies and ov dsg; pomegranate seeds (669 calories)

Anything Goes: dark chocolate covered nuts (170 calories)

Total calories: 1837 Mid-Range

I'm very happy given the unexpected lunch out... usually I have smaller meals and bigger snacks but this worked for my schedule today.
