I completely banned artificial sweeters from my diet 2 years ago and have not missed them at all. There are some sodas sweetened with Stevia and with Agave Syrup that I like and find at PCC (local co-op) and Whole Foods, some at Trader Joe's. I've even seen a few brands at regular grocery stores.

What brands of Stevia have you tried? Some are much better than others. I've settled on Nu Naturals for myself. They make a clear liquid that it only takes 2 or 3 drops to sweeten anything I want. They have a powdered form and you can get packets for on the go as well.

The people who have tried it and not liked the taste were using 3 to 4 times the amount needed.

Thanks for that link. This has been a real issue with me - frankly I don't like the taste of stevia but I don't want the added calories of sugar. And so much of the information I've read is contradictory that I'm just really confused. I'll check out the info this team has posted.

Believe it or not, that info has been circulating for more than a decade and nothing was banned.
There's a No Artificial Sweeteners Team that has a lot of links to updated health info on all artificial sweeteners that you can read without joining -- you wouldn't believe the amount of negative health info (or maybe you would):

It is possible to join the team as an inactive member just to display the No Artificial Sweeteners logo on your SparkPage so that you can spread the word to other SPers, many of whom overdo the artificial sweeteners.
The Team Leader, FearlessLife, is very helpful and has answered any questions I've asked.

I'm with you the whole way on this one. I use Stevia and it is wonderful. I would recommend this over anything else, it balances the insulin in your pancreas. emoticon

Try Stevia for sweetening everything. It's all natural and everything I have read about Stevia has been good. You can find Stevia in the grocery store or the health food store. There are drops that can be used to make soda pop or cool aid type drinks. Good Luck. Sassy

This is really a good read and listen, take the time it will just make you angry at the FDA. The harass farmers over Raw Milk, but look what they do to the people of this Great Nation.

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government."

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. "
