Wow whole grains contain sugar, I didn't realize that, it might be why I am dealing with this infection now. I have been taking some antibiotics and now don't seem to be any better for it.
I am going to do something more natural, talking to a nutritionist and going to make the decision to get this fungus or whatever it is out of my system/
Got the chills most nights and sinus pressure but not an ear infection. What I don't know only been reading about candiditis and it seems to be what I am fighting. It can take over about every body system and wreak havoc there. A site I was on and reading up on this dr advice about colonics and other things I can do for now seem to be the thing for me. I hope to be rid of this before too long, unless it's already gone too far.

"Now that I know that whole grains contain sugar, I realize I've got to get serious about my diet."
Grains contain starch, which in the body is broken down into its component glucose (sugar) molecules.
This cannot be avoided while maintaining good health. Glucose is the preferred fuel for the body. It is the only fuel the brain can use, and is highly preferred by the heart, as well.
The average adult requires 100g of carbohydrate per day just to fuel basic body functions.
Those who use "sugar" almost as the bogey man of nutrition are either ill-informed or promoting a product or program.
I am not advocating that we all start drinking Coke. We can get all the carbohydrates we need from whole plant foods, along with all the protein, essential fatty acids and micronutrients, other than Vit. D and B-12.

HI, I ALWAYS GET SUCH GOOD INFO FROM EVERYONE-HERE'S SOMETHING THAT MAY HELP YOU. I'VE HEARD THIS ON MORE THAN ONE HEALTH SHOW. OIL OF OREGANO CAPS AND OLIVE LEAF CAPS ARE GOOD AT FIGHTING FUNGUS IN OUR SYSTEMS. YOU CAN GET THEM ANYWHERE-BUT THEY HAVE NATURAL ANTIFUNGAL PROPERTIES. I'M NOT SURE WHETHER ONE BRAND IS BETTER THAN ANOTHER-HAVEN'T RESEARCHED THAT YET-- HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE--

Fungus what is it called? I agree about all those modified foods and that pesticides and hormones changing our food industry. Whatever happened to making food good for us and not being all about money?? I was dealing with candida and not sure if it's all gone Yet!! I didn't go to a practitioner not sure if there is one that would help in an all natural way. The person that lead me to cleansing was a nutritionist.

I have tenea versicolor. When consistent I used a Golden Seal poultice which works to restore the pigment in my skin. I also add a drop of tea tree oil to the paste.
Now that I know that whole grains contain sugar, I realize I've got to get serious about my diet.

Saw this posting after I posted my other reply.
That's so great that you are taking those steps to be healthy! I have done the same thing with all the cleaning and personal care products as well. It does make a difference what we ingest; our skin absorbs so much!
It sounds like you are doing as much as possible to stay healthy and that's wonderful. We all need to be proactive in our health.
Best wishes, Cat

While you are quite right that the processing, pesticides and hormones have altered our food to the point of it losing its nutritional value, other underlying issues can contribute to ill health.
I have been eating whole foods for two years and while I have improved, my doctor realized that following the diet and exercise program he prescribed and not getting better meant there was something else going on. He tested for and found a low grade bacterial infection, food allergies (even whole foods can cause inflammation if your body doesn't like them), an extremely toxic level of mercury and a fungal overgrowth.
The fungus living in our bodies is normal, however their numbers can get totally out of control and that will wreak havoc with almost every system in the body. While trying to get this back in line, it is important to eliminate anything that will "feed the yeast", including high sugar, starch, fermented and fungal foods.
My point is that under normal circumstances (and yes, years ago when life was simpler), the yeast poses no problems. But, with pesticides, hormones, genetically modified foods, antibiotics, environmental pollution, poor diet and lifestyle habits, etc., it IS possible for yeast (aka fungus, although it's not scientifically accurate to use the terms for each other), to become a major problem for some people.
While the answer to weight loss and optimal health may be simple for the majority, there will always be people like me who defy conventional thinking. I thank God every day for finally leading me to the medical practitioners who are helping me unravel the complex issues I face.
Through my journey, I have learned that need to keep an open mind and that I am stronger than I thought I could ever be. If anyone had ever told me that I would be eating totally organic, eliminate all bread, pasta and sugar, and be dairy-free at this stage in my life, I would have told them they were nuts. I was blessed with a body that requires a finely tuned diet to work at its best. Some might call it a curse, but I realize that being this way has made me more sensitive to others and their plights, so for that I am grateful.
Wishing you continued good health,

I was incorrect in my last posting when I stated 'there's no cancer in my family'; I am an ovarian cancer survivor. That is why I feel I have been given a second chance. I became a vegetarian and eat all natural and whole grain. If there are any preservatives, dyes, processing, I basically forget it. I used to joke with my family "fresh,or frozen, or forget it". Yes, genes have something to do with whether or not one has cancer. That is why we have to think twice before we expose ourselves to chemicals in the environment. Think about fish in a bowl. We need to keep the water pure or they won't survive. I also think of all the formula recalls in China where the babies become ill, and many died from a protein additive. The same additive that was added to pet food over there. Now, there is another outbreak of pet food again. All from additives that would not have been found naturally in foods. It makes one think that whole and pure is the way to go. Take care and I wish you well. So, I do understand, somewhat what you are going through. I need to keep my foods as pure as possible. I also do this with all cleaners and don't spray fragrances in the house. I have gone organic or all natural with shampoos and soaps. I do not want to have my cancer return; I want to see my grandchildren.

I don't agree with that. If that were correct we would all be extinct; you think? If one thinks back to the Incas and Native American tribes; what did they eat? For that matter; all of us came from tribes somewhere in the world and that is how people survived. Disease was nearly unhead of here in America until the English,Spanish, and French came over here carrying the plague, etc. We have started hearing a lot of issues with foods since the fruit orchards started using pesticides, then the dairy industry started adding hormones to the milk and injecting the cattle with hormones to breed the 'perfect' cattle. With all the refining that is done to foods there is relatively no nutritional value left. Now we are seeing many people eat fast food that consist of meat and meat by products, refined breads, sugar soda, coffee with cream and sugar, etc. Where's the fresh vegetables and fresh fruits? Where's the whole grains? All they are eating are refined foods that are high in cholesterol and calories. Compare that to a healthy tossed salad with fresh green leafy vegetables that has been grown without pesticides in an organic garden.. some fresh fruit..and a whole grain pasta or bread. Fungus? Maybe one needs to wash their veggies and fruits. I grew up in the country and we ate from our organic garden and orchards. There is no cancer in our family. We ate whole grain and many veggies straight from the garden and fruit straight off the trees. We didn't care if a bird had pecked the apple; they were alive and singing nearby.

Hi, Yes that's definately true. I think getting back to more natural foods is really the answer. His premise is is that so many of the grains are stored so that fungus is able to proliferate. Even in the bible in Leviticus God talked about mold and how they were to cleanse the house if any was found. There is also stuff about the leaven "yeast". This show is on Daystar and a lot of very interesting info. Thanks so much for sharing appreciate it

So glad to help and I see you are doing great losing weight good for you. Hope that you get some good info from the website-he makes a lot of sense. With all the epidemics of disease around us there have got to be some better answers than what most of the med community can give us. Cancer, diabetes, etc are all on the rise and no one has any answers to why. Hope you are feeling better and I will say a little prayer for you

I loved that poem you sent about thought becoming words etc. that is excellent and so true. We need to watch what we thinks and what we say because it will order our lives. thanks again

Hi, Sorry to hear you are not feeling well but I'll be glad to give you the info that I have. The name of the show is "Know the Cause" you can also look it up on the internet. He has a lot of info about yeast etc. on there and it should help you I hope. He (Doug Kaufman) has studies the effects that fungus has on us and people really seem to experience much better health. Take a look and let me know what you think. Hope you feel better and I'll say a little prayer for you

Wow, what a mouthful I have been fighting candida for about a year now. I have used some cleansing pills and have added some pro=biotics. But I feel that now I am back at square 1. I am plagued with the headaches, feels like sinus but more intense. While on these cleanses I was on a strict diet and not able to always stay on it. I have been better some days. I'd like to know more where you got your help from. thanks!

In Mexico corn smut is called huitlacoche (sometimes spelled cuitlacoche), a Nahuatl word reportedly meaning raven's excrement. It is considered a delicacy, even being preserved and sold for a higher price than corn.

I did a web search of Know the Cause and found the web site. Unfortunately, no local TV station near me carries the show, but I did watch one of the shows on the site.
Kaufmann is referring to an internal fungal overgrowth, which I am living proof does exist! Not many doctors "believe" in it. I suffered for 8 years with all kinds of issues (too many to list here) and finally found a gastroenterologist who was also trained by the Institute of Functional Medicine and I am finally receiving treatment for the underlying causes of the conditions instead of being prescribed a bunch of medications that are intended to suppress the symptoms and end up causing more problems.
So, thank you for directing me to this site (www.knowthecause.com) I hope more people will realize that becoming healthy means listening to your body and providing it with the right foods for optimal performance. We truly are what we eat and it is possible to rebuild the cells in the body with proper nutrition. It's never too late to improve.
It's a great day; enjoy it, Cat

Your question is an interesting one to me. I am currently being treated for two major problems - mercury toxicity and fungal overgrowth (aka candida). One of the biggest changes in the prescribed diet is no grains - period! Fungus thrives on sugars.
I don't know the particular fungus that grows specifically on grains, corn and rice though. Hadn't heard that one strain is worse than others, so I would be interested to learn more.
As for substitutes for grains? My naturopath suggeste quinoa over any other grain if I feel I must eat something like that. (Now I am not sure if that would have the same issue you describe though). I have become adept at using spaghetti squash in my cooking as well. It's not the real thing, but it's delicious. Flax seed crackers work well for snacks. There are some interesting recipes for flax meal pizza crust online - haven't tried them yet though.
But, the longer I eat like this, the less I feel the need for "real" bread, pasta or other grain products. When I do decide to eat them, I feel lousy for days afterward, so it's not worth it to me anymore.
I just finished two rounds of a detoxing cleanse that eliminated everything but vegetables, berries for the protein shakes I had to drink and the supplements prescribed to speed the process along. No dairy or oil, no flesh, no coffee. Eat as much raw as possible and buy as much organic as possible. I felt better than I have for years! It's too extreme for daily living perhaps, but now I know when I feel especially "blah", I can return to that eating pattern for a week or so to regain my vitality.
Is it the grains? Is it the dairy? Is it eliminating the caffeine? Is it just sticking as close to the earth as possible with what is eaten? Or is it a combination of all of the above?
Please let me know what station you saw this on? I'd love to check it out.
All the best, Cat

Hmm.. I've not heard that before. Most of what I read indicates that years of processed foods cause many of our diseases.
