You have to be careful to read the labels, most rice give you the dry calories.

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government."

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. "
Thomas Jefferson

IMVEGAN, you may be right. It is difficult to truly assess the nutrition facts label. This is a product of Thailand and the way food facts are listed is a little different. I've gotten used to reading European labels, but sometimes the facts are a little lost in the translation with Chinese, Thai, or Japanese labels. I will need to investigate this further.

Some companies list a serving as 1/4 cup uncooked rice. Your package must mean that. Look at the nutrition label. 1/4 cup makes 3/4 of a cup of cooked rice.
My brown basmati rice package says a 1/4 cup of uncooked rice is 170 calories. (3/4 cup cooked)

Yep, things are deceiving. I bought an Amy's frozen no cheese pizza. Ended up with 19 grams of fat! It was good, but won't be doing that again. It said Vegan, so I really didn't look at the content until I went to add it to my "safe" list, but I took it off after reading the label.
I found frozen brown rice. Trader Joe's has it and now I found it by Byrds Eye. Comes individually wrapped, 3 in package at Trader Joes, 1 in package at regular supermarket. Good, and fast and no dairy.

You can't get the brass ring on the merry go round if you don't reach for it. Go for it. I know you can!

OUCH! i didnt know that brown basmati was so high in calories - 1/4 C = 190Cal. !!! OMG! who eats only 1/4 C? I usually serve myself 1/2C of grain with my meals, but today I was way down on my carb intake so I had a full cup with my meal. Usually that is not so bad, BUT today it was a VERY BAD idea! over 600+Cals of just rice! Soooooooooo, much self educating followed, looking up nutritional info on ALL the varieties of rice that I consume. Whew, what an eye opener!
