... surrounded by crap, but very happy!

On Monday and Tuesday, grandson AJ & I worked on clearing out, cleaning up, and sorting through DH's and my bathrooms - cabinets, shelves, drawers, above, below, every surface! He hauled everything out to the living room (where I was working); then completely cleaned the empty bathrooms, so it looks as if we're just moving in.

I wiped each item clean (AJ helped), and proceeded to get my bathrooms in order, AT LAST. One goal was to consolidate and see what my true inventory is of household items and toiletries - that's how I found out I have 14 boxes of Natural Instinct Hair Color...! AJ is coming again tomorrow, so
I want to be completely finished with this first set.

About 75% is taken care of - thrown away, bagged to donate, or put back correctly - with just a fraction more to go...

and now I am... TIRED! G'night~ emoticon

Well, I've been away for a little while, but it seems I have another chance to try harder to lose some of this weight. Heart cath on yesterday was clean, no stents so let's try this again. Walking is not an option due to sciatica, etc. so intake will have to be it.

Here I sit, sweatier than I have been in awhile, but in less pain than usual, because our grandson AJ came to help us clean up! Actually, we "hired" him to do the heavy lifting-reaching-getting-putting-walking and so forth stuff for us. It won't be hard to find lots of stuff for him to do...

DH either can't or won't help me organize our cabinets and closets, or declutter his stuff, which is desparately needed. I've been asking him for years to help with the physical part of the organizing, which I can't do efficiently. I start, work some, but have to stop due to pain; DH can't handle having it half-done, so I have to put away what's left - it's discouraging.

So AJ will help with that, as well as continue cleaning. Once all our nooks and crannies are clean again, AJ and I will go room by room and put this place right. AJ hadn't been able to find a job during senior year or this summer, so his Mom set up for him to babysit Kaile every other week (she goes to Day Camp with SS when SS is with them on alternate weeks).

I had thought of using AJ to help us physically as a way for AJ to make money, and then found out about their (no-pay) arrangement. It works out, because we want to see Kaile on those "off" weeks as well; but I'm sure we couldn't take care of her all week, like we have in years past.

SO, now I've cooled down enough to get into the shower, I'll get going. Shorter work today - Kaile's at a friend's - but I gotta rest up, cause both of them are coming tomorrow!

LOTS of walking today - actually walked a few times this week - plus 10 minutes of intense aerobics (OW OW OW!). Plus lots of getting up-and-down, walking back-n-forth, while straightening up, groceries away, and doing laundry.

It looks like we'll be able to have GD Kaile (now 7 years old), two or three days a week... We can help reduce the cost of child care, and reap the benefits of having Kaile here to keep us up and on the go! Now that DH is getting dialysized each night, he's feeling better and better. He surprised me and picked Kaile up this morning, and we kept her til her bedtime.

She definitely keeps me on track food-wise - I take being a role model for a growing girl very seriously - and gets me up on my feet more too. Today she played "Office" - a game she's played since she was about 18 months old, imitating her Mommy - while I did my online work. Of course, we had to stop for regular Dance Breaks (who needs coffee or a ciggie?!).

I have a file of free or low-cost fun places to go with kids - I'm already planning our next day together, and it includes... emoticon

Well, it’s the beginning of July, and I remembered to weigh-in. After another busy and stressful week, I lost two more pounds – surely due to staying on track with food and sleep. I looked over my records for the last few months, and it sure has been a crazy, up-and-down Spring, in all respects!

Since I always say to focus on the long-term, rather than what the scale might say on any given day, I decided to take my own advice! Since mid-February, when I started a weekly-average record, I’ve lost and regained and lost and regained and lost... and ended with a loss of eight pounds.

I am happy to say that my weigh-ins on yesterday and today were my lowest ever on Spark! The last weigh-in for my Spring 5% Challenge Team has been extended to July 5th. On one hand, I’m happy to have extra time to at least stabilize at this new lower weight – very possible if I can stay on track.

On the other hand, it IS 4th of July weekend, and ripe with temptations. Extending the Challenge deadline through July 5th is an excellent idea: more motivation to withstand those temptations, and to learn to turn the changes that holidays bring into a normal part of our healthier lifestyle.

I’m still mentally “finishing up” June, but I will definitely be back to set up a new July Challenge goal for myself on this thread.
