I LOVE the Nectar Cappucino Latte flavor. It tastes wonderful. I also use the Jillian Michaels protein (it's affordable and easy to get) and often look at the recipes on http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot
.com/ They are under Links & Resources and are absolutely awesome. :)

I just started using Jay Robb Whey protein. It has 25 grams of protein and is sweentened with Stevia. I use the vanilla and the chocolate with almond milk. The only down side to it is a 12 oz container is 20.00. The 40 oz container is 34.99. I have yet to find it on sale. The way I figure it though is my grocery bill has come down since bariatric surgery and will come down even more once my husband has his. I had quit trying to find a good protein until I found this one. The up side is that it really taste good.

I also use the GNC brand of whey protein. I use the vanilla and it works ok. It's the best flavored powder I've used to date and my surgery was 5 years ago. I make a small smoothy with it when I need to boost my protein. I take about 1/2 cup of thawed unsweetened fruit (I use frozen because it lasts longer and thaw it because my blender can't handle frozen. fresh would be better if you can afford it) a couple tablespoons of low sugar plain or vanilla yogurt (to sweeten a little bit), 1/2 cup of fat free lactose free milk, and 1 scoop of the protein powder. I also learned that for me the taste of banana helps mask the protein flavor. I like to use fresh but a little banana extract works.

I just received my surgery date and have just today started the pre-op diet.... The say the first 2 days are the hardest... I truly hope that's true! LOL!! Actually, hasn't been too bad so far. I am, for the first time, trying Whey Protein... Jillian Michaels (I believe I bought it at WalMart). It is the triple choc shake and I mixed it with water. Not wild about it but it was okay. I drank it... I am optimistic that it will do the trick although I do plan on trying other brands also.

If you always do what you always did you will always get what you always got!

I have plans to do things differantly!!

I'm one month post-RNY. I had tried all sorts of protein drinks over two weeks before I found one I could drink - I was starting to panic by then. I now use both Nectar Fuzzy Naval and Nectar Chocolate Truffle. I prefer the Fuzzy Naval (peach/orange) in water, but it is okay in milk. I drink the Chocolate in milk when I need the extra protein.

Hi Pretty Fluffy. Just had to drop you a line and tell you how GREEEET you look!. Can't believe you ever weighed more than you are now!. I was also heavy at one point (340) Gastric stapling, lost lots of weight. 15 hip operations later, gained weight, and now am having to lose about 40 - 50 pounds. Haven't being doing bad though, have lost 20 pounds since January 3rd/08. I need to find out about this Protein med that everyone talks about, and how Protein impacts on your body when you don't have it in your diet, because I do not eat meat except for a little bit of chicken now and then. My problem is that I don 't eat enough, nor can I exercise. My daily diet, if I don't watch it, is usually only about 5-6 hundred calories. I think it is a combination of a couple of things, not being hungry, and afraid to gain weight. Now, when I drank Beer, I could get enough calories, but we know that isn 't good!. I also can 't exercise very much, but I have started to do some chair exercises and they seem to be doing the trick. So, if you could tell me about this Protein business and how it works,I would be grateful to you. Having had my Gastric Stapling done 20 years ago, I wasn't really given very much information, and what I was given, I forgot! How long did it take you to lose your weight, and how long have you been with Spark people? Once again, you look Super. Thanks for any help that you can give me. Take care. Peggy Johnson pjohnson@persona.ca emoticon

I always say that for every pound we lose, it is really two, the one we lose, and the one we don't gain, because by the time we are desperate enough to diet, the pounds are going on at a pretty steady rate.

Try Isopure. I have found that it mixes the best with liquid. I use soy milk, a half banana, half cup frozen strawberries and two scoops of isopure for my shakes. It is worth 64g protein. Takes me about 2 hours to drink. You can get isopure online and Amazon for $35.00 for 3lb jug ($56.00 at GNC).

When I drink my protein I just treat it as any other liquid, though I try to not drink anything else for 15 minutes before or after drinking it. The only powder I can really handly in Unjury Chicken Broth. I add a little pepper, onion powder and garlic powder and make it taste a little more like soup. If I use any of the other flavored protein powders I have to add banana. For some reason banana get rid of the "protein" taste for me.

I treat it the same as any liquid. I wait 30 mins after a meal to start drinking the shake.

I don't drink any of them. I've tried several but could not stand the taste; however, I don't like milky type drinks and never have.

I do make sure I eat all my protein everyday, along with 5 fruits and veggies. After doing that, I don't have much craving for carbs, but do get in some.

I buy 100% whey protein at GNC - it comes unflavored and flavored and I mix it with water.

I use it as a snack - so I don't have to worry about the 30 min before or after a meal.

I do it twice a day.... It makes it way easy to get my protein in.

My favorite tasting protein shake I get at Wal-Mart...it is called Six Star Body Fuel...it is sugar free and comes in chocolate and vanilla. It is okay made with water but tastes awesome made with milk (soy or real). I also use it to make high protein coffee sometimes as well :)

Just curious... when you drink your protein shakes/drinks, do you treat them the same way as water (none 30 mins. before or 1 hr after a meal)? Or is the shake/drink part of your meal?
