It may be as simple as drinking more water, eating less, by measuring out your food, or even taking 15 minutes just to so some form of exercise. I can sure relate to getting out of control, especially when I am on the road traveling. I have taken out once again a recipe book that has wonderful Diabetic recipes for the crock pot.
I am not diabetic, but the recipes are good because they are low in sugar, fat and salt.
The one thing I got to get back into my schedule is walking on my treadmill.
Hugs to everyone.

I can't seem to eat correctly since I started driving. I stay away from home to get away from the heat and use someone else's AC!!!

I'm glad to see you back posting this month! Sure hope you find someone to help you with your housework.
Wow, I'm sorry to hear that your feet are bothering you. I hope you can find a solution for the discomfort you're feeling.

Relisa, your feet bother you, too! Glad you're working on a solution around it. Your stew sounds yummy. It's so hot where I am that I don't see how anyone works in a garden!! But, they must because many of the yards are beautiful here.

Hi, Dari!! It's been a long time since I've been in this thread. I enjoy dancing to music. When I get better, I'll do that again. Some dvd's are good, too. It's important to find what works for us.

Hello, I want to say hi and thank you for sharing your journey. I can relate to sore feet. I have trouble with mine a lot, especially when I do not have good support on my feet. I have found medi=pad socks do help to relieve some of the soreness.
I have a few exercise videos, but I tend to do better with walking on my treadmill or doing yard work outside. This I have found not only helps me burn calories, but it helps me keep my property looking nice.
I am sorry to hear you had a stressful August. I know that the heat itself can be difficult and add stress on top of that.
I am glad to read that you are back and that the nutrition tool is helping you. I have found that if I just cut back and I have seen results.
What is wonderful is finding the plan that works best for you.

I have a few work out dvd´s but the exercises make my feet hurt. I bought some plimsoles which are a bit flat, but I am thinking of walking instead.

I had a pretty stressful August and put on weight, but after getting back on Spark and using the nutrition list I am looking to getting it all off. I mean to stay on track from now on. I need someone I can trust to come and clean the house for me which I am hoping to happen by Christmas. This will give loads of more time to do all the other things I need to do.

Today is the beginning of the rest of my life.

Marie

I made a beef soup in my crockpot. I love this dish for not only is it tasty, but healthy.
Cut up 3 pound piece of London broil or roast beef. Set aside. Cut up one onion. Set aside.
Cut up 8 red potatoes and set aside. Have one bag of baby carrots ready to add.
Spray crock pot with olive oil spray. I do this so the food does not stick to pot.
Put in baby carrots, cut up potatoes and onions. Top this with cut up beef.
1 teaspoon of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and crushed rosemary.
2 cups of beef broth poured over, 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce and 1/4 cup of cooking sherry. Set for low and cook 8-10 hours.
I love making soups because in them I have meat and veggies and they tend to help me not be hungry latter on, but fill me up. I usually like to add 2 dinner rolls with 1 tablespoon of butter with it.
What is wonderful about this is it saves on cooking latter on in the week, because this soup can be ate in the next couple of days, saving time and money.
I ended up walking 30 minutes today.

Hello Dari, thanks for sharing. I have some exercise videos too, perhaps in between the week I can pull these out to give me a change of pace. One form of exercise I do like is mowing the lawn. I am hoping next year to plant a garden. This is good exercise too and in future I have asked my husband for a pool. I love to swim. This may take awhile. I do know sometimes schools have a pool where the residents can swim for free. Years ago I used to go to the school to swim. Hum, I will have to keep my ears open.

Hi Relisa, it was nice to hear from you too! I haven't tried the chicken dish yet. I'm going to thaw a piece of chicken tonight and I'm going to the store tomorrow for some of the ingredients. I'll probably make it tomorrow or Thursday. I'll let you know how I liked it. I'm sure I will. I've gone back to the gym and I'm using the treadmill, I like using Christian videos when I'm on it. It helps the time go by and it helps me concentrate on the music and video not on my walking. It also drowns out the noise around me emoticon

Hello Dari, it was wonderful to hear from you. The chicken was yummy. What is nice about it is you can put it on bread as an open sandwich is what I did. My next dish I am soon going to make is a beef stew. My husband loves this and it is a hearty meal that not only taste good, but keeps me feeling full and satisfied.
Today, I planned on walking 10 minutes and ended up walking 20 minutes. I love walking to Christian music.

I made a chicken dish today. Boneless chicken, topped with cut mushrooms (4 Oz), 1 can of cream of chicken soup 10 3/4 oz., 3 slices of bacon cooked and shredded over top and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Cut up chicken into pieces, cook in skillet until no longer pink. Put in crock pot with the other ingeredients. 15 minutes before done, add bacon and cheese. Enjoy .

What? No gravy? Who doesn't like gravy? I guess it's not a matter of him not liking gravy, it's what tastes better with the pork loin which sounds really good. Still haven't made the chicken. Today was my first day of freedom driving so I got a little out of hand and was out for about 5 hours and bought lunch out at Taco Bell. I people watched. That is so much fun.

The pork loin turned out really well. My son the chef at all the loin that was left. That was a true sign of it being good. The first night he yelled at me for putting gravy on his plate. He said the flavor of the meat didn't need it. 31 years and I didn't know he didn't like gravy! So try the Herb encrusted pork loin. So easy to make and so tasty!

I still haven't made the chicken. My daughter came up unexpectedly and we all went out for dinner, but I was at the store Sunday and bought the canned pineapple. So, I'm ready! I'll let you know. The porkloin sounds yummy too.

Fresh should be just as good maybe better, the only thing you won't have the juice for the marinate. But I guess if you crush the fresh pineapple, you can get fresh juice. Let me know. I made a killer herb encrusted pork loin last night that my son said was the best he ever tasted! And for him, the chef to complement me means a lot.

Bob, you're gonna laugh. I went to the grocery store yesterday and bought the ingredients for the Tropical Grilled Chicken. I'm loading my groceries on the belt to check out and realized I didn't get the can of crushed pineapple! I thought "oh, my gosh" and I'm not fast enough to go get it. Then I looked at the best and I had just put a fresh pineapple on it that I was buying and told myself,"I can use that." I'll probably make the chicken tonight. I'll let you know how I liked it. :)

Well, my wife and I like the red onion, and my son won't eat them, so I jsut split the other ingredients in half and made it two ways. I think the onion took a little away from the salsa for us as the onion was very potent! But outside of that we really enjoyed it. Hope you do to!

It turned out pretty good. It is here on spark recipes. I believe it was called Tropical Grilled Chicken with Salsa. I will probably leave the cilantro and jalopenos off the next time as my wife and I don't like hot stuff (well my stomach doesn't like it). But I loved the mango, pineapple, and kiwi and tasted very good.

I will let you know. I like fruity recipes. Especially for chicken as I ate so much chicken as a kid since it was cheap, that I really don't like it now. So I find ways to doctor it up, as it is a great source of protein which I need since my surgery!

I do the same thing Dari, I fill my water bottle with iced tea and sip on it all night long, there is a dispute as to whether you can use it in place of water. I was told when I was in WW and T.O.P.S, as long as it wasn't sweetened with sugar, it could count as water. Now since my surgery, I have been told as long as it is not caffinated if counts for water, but I think they tell us that because we can't drink caffinated drinks. So I have adjusted to decaf tea and it tastes as good. When we went out to eat last night at a restraurant with friends, I forgot and ordered a glass of tea, and I could taste the difference and didn't really like the normal tea.

Also, I have really gotten to like fresh pineapple. They have been rather nicely priced lately and the wife and I have been enjoying pineapples, strawberries and other fruits. I am trying a recipe tonight for grilled Citrus Chicken, that has a salsa with mango, kiwi, lime, pineapple, and honey and soy sauce. I will serve it over rice or angel hair pasta. I think it sounds delish.

I am addicted to water. You read that right. Water. I tend to sip constantly. Like some folks chew gum, I sip water

I have to cut down because my sodium level dipped under acceptable level. Who knew this could happen?

My level is in range, barely. Thanks for the prayers.

Hello Dari, thank you so much for your kind words. The health drinks I am making are from recipes that came with my Nutri-bullet.
As for an idea for an evening treat, what my husband and I have been having is cold fresh pineapple. Not only does this taste yummy, but it is good for us.
At night try to drink liquid, maybe a nice big glass of ice tea, or a smoothie. I like to take small sips and this I find satisfies me.

I shall take this mountain

It sure works for me. I add butter buds or liquid butter *with the pump in small amounts. Sea salt sometimes, even nuts or rarely chocolate mini semi sweet chips. Just enough to change the flavor up.

I am crazy about air popped popcorn & I have a little Presto microwave popper which is perfect in the microwave. I also like Skinny Cow ice cream bars, which are 100 calories and 2.5 fat grams. However, they are not cheap. Also, Laughing Cow cheese wedges which make a good snack with crackers of choice. Then, there's the Purity fudge bars which are 100 calories and 0 fat grams. Here's an odd fact! Since I started exercising, I started feeling a little weak. I found out about the Special K protein drinks & I drink one every other day. They are 190 calories and 5 fat grams, so by every other day, that averages 95 calories and 2.5 fat grams per day and is well worth the expenditure, as they seem nutritious. Seems I wasn't getting enough protein for the extra effort. The drinks are good, too! I just had a strawberry-banana one here at work for morning break!

I have the frozen fruit bars all the time. That is what I normally go for or my Skinny Pop popcorn. They have a new white cheddar Skinny Pop that is fantastic. But makes it hard to limit the amount you eat!

Relisa you're an awesome encourager and you have such a sweet spirit. Are you making up your smoothie and juicer recipes or are you finding them? I am a at night eater also and haven't found anything to substitute it with. The sugar free fudge pops sound like a great idea though.

Will keep you in my prayers Rook. Believing God with you for a good report.
Hugs to all my team mates. Keep up the awesome work. Thanks for sharing what has been working for you as you tackle the battle of the bulge. Thanks for also sharing your feelings and thoughts as you go through the process. This is so helpful for it reminds me that I am not on this journey alone , but others struggle just like I do, but with time and faith, we can encourage one another to push through to the other side.

Thanks for the prayers. I am on standby for July 1 if a surgery gets cancelled they will move me in that time slot otherwise it will be July 3. My wife works for this surgeon and she has briefed me on what to expect. Sounds like things have changed from the past, as they say my hand will be weak for a couple of weeks, but I need to exercise the finger right away. I am sure she will keep me in line. I have been trying to imagine life without my right hand and it is miserable! I don't know how I will survive, but I am sure that with the good Lord's help I will manager. Thanks again for everyone's prayers. I appreciate it.

I believe that what I have been losing is inches and belly fat. I believe this is what people in my circle are seeing in regards to my body's change. I love doing health drinks. I find that I am satisfied after having my morning drink. My goal is to add one for my lunch and have meat , and veggies for my evening meal. I have noticed I do not want to eat as much. I do love a good tall glass of raspberry ice tea, especially at night time. On a good note, I have been noticing I am not wanting to eat at night like I used to. If I do have something, I have been having either fresh apple slices or fresh pineapple. This seems to meet my need for a snack and what is good about it is it is healthy.
I do still have an ice cream treat, but I found fudge pops that are sugar free and only 30 calories, or is it 40. All I know is that they are under 100 calories, which is awesome.
I am sorry to hear about the carpel tunnel. This is very painful. A friend of mine battled with this and had to have surgery to help ease the pain. In the past I have learned that this condition is caused by repetitive motion. I will be praying for you .
I wish everyone a wonderful week.

Bob, I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands back in 1995. It was a very good decision. I lost my job at the time but it worked out okay. Unfortunately it has come back now within the last year or so. My doctor attributes some of it to my weight. Okay. It is a very simple surgery but you do have to be out of commission for awhile. I don't remember it being painful though. I do remember having to keep my hand over my head for at least a week. That's when the recliner came in handy and also the OJ trial telecast. Seriously though I'll be praying for you Bob and you too Della.

I've always been so toned. even when I gained and lost again. This time, I'm not certain it's going to be that way. I think it's part of the reason I've stopped losing weight I want to be attractive with no clothes.
I know my health is more important..... so, we will see what happens on this gluten free diet. ?

This may sound funny, but I may need him for skin removal when I lose all the weight I want to lose. But I'm embarrassed. He mentioned to my wife that he noticed the floppy skin on my arms. But that is a long way down the road.

My wife works for the surgeon and he is one of St. Louis University's top Plastic surgeon and a top Hand surgeon specialist. My wife has been raving about some of the top patients that he has taken care of and the miraculous changes he has done for folks that have had great accidents While I know my procedure is so common place today, she insisted that I go with him. So I think my hand is in good hands!

Prayers coming your way, Bob! I had surgery on my right hand for "trigger finger." That's when one finger getsstuck & won't fold up. Not good for a musician! I had a good doctor, and wish you one just like him!!! Hang in there!

Well, it looks like I am going to have to have surgery for my carpal tunnel. I have it severely in both hands, but my right hand is really bad. I have been wearing splints at night and during the day when I can, and had a cortizone shot in my right hand last week, but it has done no good. I am dropping things that I try to hold with my right hand, so surgery is probablly going to happen hopefully by the end of this week. I have a conference on July 10-12 that I have to wear a suit and it's formal, so I want to have the big bandage off before then. I hear it is only a 15 minute surgery and pretty common place, but painful. So If you don't see me around for a couple of days, and my notes have more typos then usual, that will be because I am only using my left hand to type!!! My wife is not looking forward to this. But I thought I would get mine in first, before she gets her knee replacement. I just keep thinking of all the things I have to do with my right hand!!! But I shall survive! Will appreciate prayers of course!

FAITH is not believing that GOD CAN, it is knowing that He WILL.

BOCCA, congrats on finding a good thing which worked for you! I don't know about those new-fangled smoothies. Guess I'm just old-fashioned, so until I see that the movement is going to last, I guess I will just have to eat anything that doesn't eat me first! emoticon

If you do not have a nutria-bullet, you can always try your blender. I have not tried to make the drink using this. I talked my husband into getting me my Nutri bullet and love it. This item is sold at Walmart and you can get it a lot cheaper then what I paid for it.
The one thing about the Nutri-bullet is it has a different kind of motor that extracts all the nutrients and makes it into a liquid. I do not know if a blender will do this. I know it will mix up the fruits pretty well, but I do not know about the greens.
I want to thank you for your encouragement. I so appreciate it. I have been exercising , but it is done through a non conventional way. I mowed this week one day for an hour. I have walked in the store all around, covering lots of floor. I have been cleaning my house, getting it ready to sell. My husband will be looking at a house near where our church is. We looked at it before and the owner has dropped the price . I believe this is going to be our next home. A little smaller, but then much easier to take care of. A nice yard so I can hopefully plant a garden or set up an area to enjoy the outside. If this happens, I probably will not be on very much. Time will tell, I just take one step at a time and do what I can do to help support the team and be faithful to my duties as a co-leader.
Wishing everyone a great week.

Bene, the side effects of many pharmaceutical drugs are devastating. I'm so sorry you had to go through that!
Take care of yourself.
