It's raining this morning, which may interfere with my plan to walk at the Arboretum. But never fear!! I have a 5k to do today and whether I'm treadmilling it or walking among the trees, I have the energy to get it done. Amazing what starting a vacay has done for my energy and motivation!!

On today's walk I noticed the beavers have moved up stream a bit more and thankfully so. I love them but I love my trees too. I am glad they moved up stream a bit to fresh bark.Yum! :) I heard one slap his tail to warn the others I was near then he dove into the water. They are amazing animals!

Have a sparktacular day everyone! emoticon

Work just keeps on being busy. So yesterday it was back to the stairs although I did get over to the mail to do a couple of laps at lunchtime. So the mall:

Halloween stuff is being carted to different, less obvious shelves to make room for (gasp) Christmas. It's October 3, so a little early to be seeing all that red and green glitter!

The jewelry store moved from the top of the mall to the end.

Starbucks has "pumpkin is back!" signs all over.

Honestly, I'd rather be outside!!

Right now I am planning to attend the woolly worm festival. emoticon The mountains will look spectacular then too with fall leaves at their peak.

Stacy, thanks for sharing your gardening! I love it too. As I was reading your post, my senses were with you in spirit! emoticon

My morning walk with my dog was very dark. It was foggy and I really could not see much so we walked back and forth on the gravel road to the pasture keeping away from the woods and water.

Yesterday was back to the treadmill - and busy at work despite working from home - so a little light. Darn! But I did spend my two hours in the garden and everything is ready for spring except building one more raised bed and adding manure to over winter.

Have a spendid Wednesday everyone!!

Today was another beautiful fall day here. While walking I noticed woolly bear caterpillars are out and about. Here in the south it is told through generations these "worms" can predict the upcoming winter. My father grew up in these mountains and knew a lot about old Appalachian mountain lure firsthand. There is a festival not far from here in Banner Elk, NC that is like a country fair and lots of fun. ( www.woollyworm.com/ for those interested.) This evening I also noticed spiders busy working on their webs to catch their evening meal at dark. I must say that on every walk I stand in amazement at what a beautiful world God has made. :) emoticon

Funny old day here, very dull.

Heard a helicopter flying , circling overhead.
A car's engine reving.
A builder making noise somehow and somewhere.

Lots of berries on bushes.
White flowers on holly - never seen this before.
Buddhist meditation centre with prayer flags flying.

The Lord is my light and my salvation. Who shall I fear?

Light on walking yesterday - a ten hour work day. emoticon

So I walked the stairs - 14 flights of 'em. Not much to see but concrete walls. And it smells sort of musty. Yuck.

Today I'm working from home so I get to walk on my treadmill. Hope the "string and a prayer" that DH used to put it together continue to hold together.

I LOVE my walks! I live in a rural area and we have a nice stream that runs across our property. My dog enjoys a cool drink daily and most days a little dip in the water too as we walk. I also usually arrive back home whelped with mosquito bites but nonetheless go back for more everyday. :) I enjoy listening to the water, it's soothing to me. More to come later. :) Have a beautiful day everyone!

Yesterday I walked while putting together a raised bed - so not a lot of walking but lifting, pushing, and reaching combined with a bit of walking.

I saw the poles we used to make the beds, the front loader, and my DH who willingly labored to make it so!

And I heard a lot of swearing (DH) when things didn't go exactly right, the sound of the front loader (it's noisy), and me yelling "Stop now!"

I'm also aware of the dust and the smell of hot grease from the machines!

Just beautiful weather with blue blue skies.

Increased length of walk by 15minutes.

Chinese people outside cafe.
Asters
Big rose hips on bush

Chinese people talking
Man shouting as he threw ball for his dog

A beautiful day here in Hampshire UK. Warm and sunny after an autumnal mist to start the day. Walked a new route with DH - he picked blackberries. Photos on blog soon

Saw:
Field of grasses
Lots of blackberries
Trees still in full leaf, not much sign of colour change yet, just a very few yellow ones.

Heard:
Lots of birds, including blackbird, bluetits and raven
Dogs being walked - could hear their check chains rattling
Construction work in the distance (building a new business centre)

Glad to be back with what appears to be a full internet signal.

After 2 days indoor with Leslie Sansone 1 mile indoor walking workout, I was able to walk outside today.
Much much nicer outside walking as the sky was a beautiful blue without a single cloud, the trees are still green and filled with fruit . . pears, apples and walnuts....what a shame I can't pick any bec they're not mine! The sun was a bright yellow. The day was crisp but with the warm sun it was a wonderful walk.

I heard the birds, I talked to some friends, and heard the kids playing and talking as they returned from school.

Beautiful day but foggy this morning.

Seagulls calling to each other.
A friend saying Hallo.
A cement mixer going round, and round and making mess all over the pavement

A man covered in tattoos, including his face.
A woman carrying a glass case with three white rats in it.
A caterpillar of little Muslim girls and boys going to Mosque, who all screamed when they saw the rats.

The Lord is my light and my salvation. Who shall I fear?

It's alright to walk in doors in bad weather. Where you walk is not so important as long as you are getting in the walk. I did walk outside in the rain today but only for a short time. Being in the fresh air and smelling how clean everything was was great. Keep up the good work.

I had to use the indoor walking workout with Leslie Sansone.....1 mile. Even if I do it half as fast it's a good workout for me now. The weather is not so great today.....humid and cold and as I have a sore throat I decided to stay in again today. For this reason I saw and heard nothing other than Leslie's voice and the beat beat beat of the music. Not as nice as walking utside but I'll need to get used to it as winter is coming.

Bleachers at the track
A beautiful harvest moon!
My daughter jogging towards me ready to finish our workout & catch up on our day!

Heard

Motivational workout music through my earphones on the 1st half of my jog. It helps with my pace.
The sound of my breathing. My lungs are burning today.
The sound of my daughter's voice as we catch up on our day!

Been posting in wrong week!

Dog barking in distance
Noise from a cement mixer/lorry
Noise from a tree being shredded again

Half a parsnip, the long pointed bit lying in the gutter like someone's nose.
Leaves on pavement
Tree cutters or arboriculturalists, as it said on their van had closed pavement with signs and red and white tape. Had to walk in busy road.

Amazing it's week 3 already!

Saw

Wet bleachers. I had to be extra careful doing my stairs due to the heavy drizzle.
Little diamonds sparking on the grassy field from the light reflecting off the dew.
My daughter's bright smile ready to get this day going with a run!

Heard

Interesting facts about biology from the college class she's taking.
Plans were making for tonight's football dinner.
The sounds of cars going by.

My back was acting up so I got home and gave it a good stretch routine & put some ice on it. I'm feeling better already.

Week 3 already!

Let's keep our eyes and ears open this week too. It doesn't matter if you are walking on the spot, around your home, on the treadmill or out in the open you can find something to tell us.

So.... choose at least one of the following for each walk (you can do one three times if you like, but make the results different) AND make a note of the weather on each of your walks. The seasons are changing - let's view them from all around the world.

1) listen for 3 sounds. Sounds from you iPod, TV, the country or town - anything is valid including the sound of your washing machine

2) notice 3 visual things. If you are in familiar surroundings you can still do this - for example, choose 3 items of the same colour that you have in your room,

Walk with purpose and enjoy your week. Don't forget that you can download your chart so that you can mark off your progress. 12weekswalking.wordpress.com/about/w
