Know some of these Jerry lee Lewis. Love the old movies and old sitcoms. Most of new stuff not worth watching. I used to read all the time, now my eyes aren't as good and hate admit it, just hate wearing glasses. Not the looks of them, but I forget and look up and makes me queasy.

Making it real!

Wish I had some suggestions for you, Rita, but I don't watch TV. Just too many books to read and most of the stuff on TV is not what I enjoy! I usually go over to my mom's at 6 and watch Jeopardy! I do treat myself to a movie now and then. I especially liked the "Monster's University" this summer. I am going to go tomorrow to see "The Butler". I mostly go to the kid movies and the family type movies. We have very limited choices here in Havre so it's not often there is even a movie in town that I will pay to see! I'm sure some of the others will have lots of suggestions. Sorry I couldn't help!

I stumbled on "Keeping Up Appearances" on Netflix and watched all of them with my husband.
We enjoyed it very much! Tried to watch Patricia Rutludge in the "Hetty Winthrop" series but it didn't work for us. My DH and I like to find a show that we both enjoy and then watch all of it via Netflix. We don't have cable or watch tv per se.

Well Patricia was young and slim in the Jerry Lewis movie- like we all were in our youth! :o)
I don't watch TV or movies unless I'm doing paperwork for work. Then I turn the TV on and it keeps me company! The kids are all in bed!

You have described Patricia Routledge perfectly! I wouldn't expect anyone to know JP really, unless you were a fan of Blakes 7 or Dr Who - apparently a character in that was based on the one she played. This is a link to a page about the character and a photo of her at that time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Servalan I found another picture and couldn't recognise her at all. I got it wrong too, she isn't in France - in Africa. I gather there's a website, but I didn't look it up.

I have a confession to make. I don't watch many films. I haven't been to the cinema since 1977 and if I can avoid them on TV I do. Yes, I know I'm odd - I'll admit it for you all emoticon

I know Jerry Lewis and Diane Riggs, but not Jacqueline Pearce or Patricia Rutledge. Was she the heavy set woman in Keeping Up Appearances? My mom used to watch that, but when she moved here to Florida, I couldn't get it for her. She lost interest in most of her shows though.
I had a celeb crush on Russ Tamblyn, ('Westside Story', 'Tom Thumb', '7 Brides for 7 Brothers') He played the younger brother to Elizabeth Taylor in 'Father of the Bride'.

Aha! Linda I'll sign your autograph book any day emoticon Thank you.

Yes, I know what you mean about celebs and animals. As for judging - I always remember a very wise old man saying 'Never judge anyone by your own standards'. I try to live by that - not everyone has had the safe and secure upbringing that I had.

Hope that makes sense.

emoticon Sassy, knowing some old TV/movie star is not your only claim to fame. You're an A lister in my book!! Only names I recognized in these posts were Jerry Lewis and Dianna Rigg-and only because you put 'the Avengers'!

I do find it curious how many old stars get very involved with animal rescue. I hate to say it, but I like animals more than people most of the time. I know, for me, it's the unconditional love I get from my dogs. Humans are not capable of that. There is always judgment off in the corner somewhere. I strive to be the person my dogs think I am.

Oh, you have no idea! She was a cult figure, you just have to mention Blakes 7 to men of a certain age and they will all quiver. She (her character) was wearing black leather before Diana Rigg in The Avengers. I'm still in touch with her sister. Jacqui is now living in France looking after hoards of rescued animals.

What fun, Eliz, was it 'Don't raise the bridge, lower the river' ? I just looked it up here

www.imdb.com/title/tt0061591/

I see that Jacqueline Pearce was also in it. She rose to fame here in a series called Blake's 7. I only mention it because my main claim to fame is that I went to school with her. She was a couple of years above me, but it was a very small school, so everyone knew each other.

Oh! My goodness!! I was watching a TV station called antennae TV and Jerry Lewis movies were on!! LOVE!!!! Jerry Lewis! And the movie was one he made in England and Patricia Rutledge was in it- oh my goodness she was FUNNY!! Wish I had caught the name of the movie! Love-Love-Love Patricia- I own the entire DVD set of "Keeping up Appearance"- reminds me so much of my Scottish Grandma! (My paternal grandmum Scottish, paternal grandfather Irish, maternal grandfather English, maternal grandmother Norwegian/Finnish- I have a lot of UK in me! LOL!!)

I have Patricia Rutledges bio on DVD too.
And Martin Clunes- he is my new favorite- except for the baudy stuff- LOL!
And Call the Midwife- love! I read all of Jennifer Worth's books!

O.K. I've gone from old- (Jerry Lewis) to present! LOL!! Thanks this is keeping my mind off of worrying about Moses! The surgery is 11:15 a.m. U.S. central time, if they are on time.
I can't go, my Tom will drive him 70 miles south to the children's specialty hospital. He's an expert now! As I hold down the fort.

When my daughter comes to help me at 2 p.m. I will walk!

emoticon The only horse show I remember was "Mr Ed" the talking horse. I didn't watch much TV as a kid and watch even less now. I like PBS and can't hardly wait for Downton Abbey's new season to start. I watch Jeopardy! with my mom almost every night at 6. And usually try to catch the local news-which is really the news from a bigger town about 120 miles south of here-either at 5:30 or 10.

Mostly I read. I've never seen any of the reality shows. Don't want to see the "contest shows" I let books take me away. My musical taste is stuck in the 50's, 60's and 70's. And I start playing my Christmas music-especially Kenny G's stuff, the day after Thanksgiving. I like jazz, classical and rock. No country for this Montana girl!

Gus was barking at me while I was spot walking to "Rawhide" so I picked him up and danced around singing to him. He just hates that!

You have to remember that I'm in the UK, so the tv programmes we had back then were about 10 years behind yours! The theme I gave you was for the story of a boy and a horse - Champion, the Wonder Horse. DH was watching tv and the adverts came on - I was in the kitchen and the music in the background. I suddenly found that I was walking on the spot to the music!

Note to self.... remember that it's not a good idea to pour boiling water when walking on the spot

emoticon

I remember Rawhide, but by the time it got here I was too old to be watching 'stuff like that'!

I wonder what else is the same but different between our two countries. What fun.

Whichever you choose - I hope you will all walk on the spot to one of them.

Now, how did it go................? Champion.........

This was hysterical. I'm with Courti-I didn't know Sassy's song but Eliz and I were probably singing it at about the same time. I remember "Rawhide". There was a guy on here, JIMDAB when I first joined and he always posted great stuff so I had him post "Go You Chicken Fat Go" which was a song we did our calisthenics to in elementary school. He's been off spark for a month or so and I sure miss his daily posts of tunes so this was wonderful.

I, too, have records and 8-track tapes. When I used to run in the Army I had a cassette player and a head-set. Now I suppose I should get an I-pod. I don't know what that is, but I suppose I should drag myself to an electronics store and find out. I do my old Richard Simmons 'Sweatin' to the Oldies' aerobics 3 times a week. They are on video cassette but I did break down and buy a DVD player last year since none of the things I wanted to watch were available on video anymore.

One of the songs I like to sing to myself as I walk is "Highway to Hell". Why do you suppose that is??? Great beat??

There is a new advert here in the UK, I have no idea what it is trying to make us buy, but the music reminded me of a very old record! Yes, a record - not a track....... those of you of a certain age will recognise it, those of you who are younger will have a giggle, I'm sure.

Anyway, just for fun, and to get some extra steps in why not walk on the spot while listening to this
