BEESPJs - one of my fav. drinks at one of our Tim Horton's restaurants here in Canada is the medium hot chocolate - it has a whopping 300 cal, 57 carbs, and 460 mg sodium. Needless to say, since finding that out, I no longer order it!

75 gr of sodium in sugar-free gelatin? What's up with that!

I was surprised eggs have sodium in them. I didn't know my dad, fed his chickens salt, lol NOT

Most dry cereals have a lot of sodium. Shredded wheat cereals usually are the lowest.

Last year I discovered that chickens and turkey are often high in sodium. I found a fresh turkey this year with only 80mg of sodium per serving, and it was free from antibiotics, steroids and (my mind has gone blank, what was that other thing?), and it was "humanely" raised. The problem, it was 3x the cost...I paid $30+ for a 14 lb turkey, but I decided it was worth it for only once a year. I might even try to find it again during the winter, maybe Christmas, we love left-overs.

I like to use different kinds of vinegars instead of dressing on my salads. Most have little sodium so I was surprised to see Nakano rice vinegar with Basil & Oregano has 240 mg in only 1 Tbsp.

In the great shipyard of life it helps to be a little dinghy.

What foods have you found that are surprisingly HIGH in sodium?

I made a cup of fat free, sugar free cocoa today and was shocked to see that this 25-calorie treat that I am used to having during the winter months has 140 mg of sodium per cup! For that amount of sodium, I could eat a sizable bowl of potato chips! (Of course they'd have a lot more calories than the cocoa!) I would not have expected to find so much sodium in my cocoa...glad I read the label!
