My family is lazy. I have to beg, plead, scream, shout and go exorcist to get any help. My husband could walk the dogs, but it hurts him to walk, so he won't. My daughter still at home works, has dance, and basically doesn't help. My son at home I have to force to breathe, much less help. I'm having a crappy pain day, so my outlook sucks right now. But, no, no one wants to help. Such is life.

OKGOATGAL - Being in a boot basically sucks. Good luck with getting clearance for stationary bike. Do you have someone who could take the dogs for a walk for you? At least then they wouldn't be going nutso with you.

I'm behaving and the boot and compression wrap are helping quite a bit. I'm hurting more in my back and left hip from the uneven gait and limping, but not much I can do about that. I still get in 4-5000 steps a day at school. The dogs are going nutso needing their morning walk/run, but there's not much I can do about that either. I tried 10 minutes this morning. I'm not ready for that, at least without the boot. Elevating it is a challenge most of the day. The swelling is almost gone and the discoloration is slowly fading. It will be hard to take it slow. I'm just not a slow kinda gal. I'll be calling about a followup tomorrow to see if I can get clearance to ride a stationary bike here at school, so at least I can keep up some of my cardio.

OKGOATGAL, sorry to hear about your injury. If you can see a Physical Therapist, do it! Being a Physical Therapist Assistant, I stand by the profession, and they are more "specialized" than a regular doctor. Unfortunately, ligaments and tendons take a long time to heal.

Bless you for working with kids with special needs. I have a good friend who has an Autistic son, and although he is quite distractable, overall, he is a great kid!

Ouch...I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad you went to the doctor. I missed a step on a small stairs waiting for our restaurant to call us. I fell and couldn't get up. I just hugged my knee and legs while my hubby helplessly looked at me. I just wanted to be still at the moment and prayed nothing was broken. I thought I was fine until over a week later, I found out my foot had broken bones. So therapy for a few weeks and wondrously my foot healed to normal. Now I can't remember which foot it was. Lol. Please take the physical therapy once the swelling's down. Hope you feel better soon. Lots of hugs.

So disgusted right now. One step forward 3 steps backward. I was finally making good progress again, my walk/run times were getting faster, I could run for longer times, I felt great. Then Sunday, on my 4th interval I somehow landed wrong and by the time I went to the dr after work yesterday, my ankle and foot were swollen horribly. I tore the ligaments and tendons in my foot. Really!?!? UGH! So now I'm back off my feet as much as possible for a couple of weeks then we'll see if it's healing properly. If not, more will have to be done. I'm in a boot and supposed to be using crutches, but I'm not hopping around school on crutches. I'll hurt myself even more. At least right now my students are maintaining their behavior (I teach special ed to students with severe ADHD, emotional problems, etc who have behavior issues that do not allow them to function at their best in the general education classroom).

I'm sorry to hear this, Jen. Yes, please contact Fitbit right away. I never called but contacted them thru my account and they replied back via email. They may be slow with replying back so please be patient but they stand behind their product. I used to charge via my laptop until I got my smart phone. Then I only charged thru plug in or via car but never had problems. So please do contact them soon.

Maybe I need to contact fitbit as well. My charger has been temperamental, and it will only charge if I get it into specific positions. It will look like it is going to charge, but when I let go of it, it stops. I have propped it up on a variety of things to get it to stay charging, and it isn't even very old yet.

Step counts:

Friday - 12,454
Saturday - 13,376
Sunday - 11,444

These are from my Omron pedometer, because it is easier to access those numbers.

Great news! emoticon
You know we all hear stories of Fitbit's customer service and how they are so awesome. I finally got a chance to try them out for the first time during my vacation. I washed my Fitbit when I did my laundry as we were on almost 3wks vacation. I remembered it when it was in the dryer. Omg-I panicked at that time.
At first I placed it in the rice bin hearing stories from others. After couple of days, I gave up. But then I didn't want to give up that easily as I was in love with that toy. Lolol

So although I knew it was dead completely. I contacted Fitbit customer service and explained what happened. They informed me not to give up and follow few instructions. I did as I was told and Fitbit was alive again. But after I came back and few weeks, it wouldn't record my steps properly as the battery had to be charged twice sometimes 3 times daily. It was hectic. Then I kept it in the charger continuously for couple of days. That helped a little and was back to charged morning and evening.
I started to forget to wear it as it lost its value. Especially those days I traveled a lot or visited my family and friends. Although I walked but not consistently as I did before. During my vacation my best steps was 8miles. Oh how I wished I wore Fitbit that day.
So I contacted Fitbit again and explained my situation. Ta-da!! Replacement on it's way. I just love their customer service.
So if you missed me on Fitbit, sorry for not replying back as I didn't have any solution as I would only use Fitbit few hours of the day.
Can't wait for the new Fitbit and start showing my true steps again.

I'm ranging between 7500 and 11000 counted on my phone m-f since school started. I do not always have my phone on me during the day, so it's not as accurate as it could be. You are not alone in counting your steps, I just don't get into this forum daily.

Haven't been posting my steps because my past two weekends have been crazy. Even with driving 8 1/2 hours yesterday, I got in my 10,000. I went for a 45 min walk when I got home to get my steps in.

Sat: 23,488
Sun: 11,185

Saturday is impressive for me. I was in ND with DD and her BF. Went for a walk along the river in Grand Forks/East Grand Forks. Started my Runkeeper app after we went over the river to return to our starting point. That was 45 min and just slightly over 2 miles. According to DD's BF, the trip out would have been longer because of the curve of the river.

Hope everyone had a relaxing last weekend and week. I had so much fun taking mini vacation on our coastal freeway right next to the Pacific Ocean. I had a great time visiting old friends and family. Very therapeutic. My medicines are finally completed. Especially one of them kept getting me drowsy which I had to take 3x daily. I finally am beginning to feel my old self again. Since the doctor could only determine it was cold flu virus, they kept trying to change meds of whatever worked. And my diet got messed up during this time. Weirdest flu ever. But I knew it was temporary and just waited for my normal physique to return.
I've been walking but less tracking. Yesterday I forgot my Fitbit (1st time) at home. Where I drove to walk was long ways from home but it was a great walk. So I'm finally ready. Thank for all that support and everyone has been really great especially with Sparkmail.

I tried not to lose my patience but family and friends started to annoy me with am I feeling any better. I finally lost it and visited different doctor. Lol. Cough supp medication pill form which worked like a charm. Still gotta take it for a few days. And z-pack. Miracle pack. Lol
Feeling much much better and ready for mini vacation.
I guess there's so much you can do with those OTC. Special thanks to those who 'bug' the heck out of me. Wouldn't have gone to doc otherwise.

Ended up going to the doctor twice as it drained me out especially from coughing. I was ready to start walking a few days ago but my fever returned. So now it's completely gone. Only thing left is my unexpected dry cough from my chest cold earlier. Doc recommended I take complete rest until my antibiotics are gone. And then start walking slowing. Of course I don't have the patience to wait. I wanna join everyone in the race. My mind's craving for it. Lol.
Is this what happens once we walk daily. Run out of patience? I started to walk some today but haven't been watching much tv. I should've checked the weather first. Crazy heat. Lol. Ran back inside as my body's still vulnerable to hot/cold. What a step back tho.

I've setup up mini vac this coming weekend few months ago with those can't be beat rates. Includes free bfast nd dinner wine lodge. No tv no phone. Hoping to see deers tho. Will be so relaxing. Hope I'm ready so I'm taking it easy but you'll finally see steps. And hoping to catch up with you Bren, Holly, Jennifer, and most everyone next week.
Hope you had a wonderful month and get ready for next month with lots of walking.

Finally lost my patience and went to see doc. Told her where I stood with my Fitbit. Lol

While my mind wants to vroom vroom my body's actually making putter noises. But almost recovering tho. I should be done with my antibiotics in couple of days. And will be ready. Thank you for the beautiful sparkmails everyone including those not on my friend list.

Holly, I picked up a 12 hr shift as a Nurse Aide at work. Yep, hit the 20,000 on my pedometer. I just accepted your friend request. I only have about 4 or 5 fitbit friends right now.

Weather everywhere seems to be very confused this year. We never know what to expect, turn on the air, turn off the air and put on sweater, lots of rain this week so the flowers and grass is growing like crazy! Never know what to wear outside. Oh well, there are worse things for sure!

Of course you can stay Holly. It's good to hear from you and you're doing great. Our weather here in Cali I like to officially say is 'confused'. Even the weatherperson can't keep up. Lol.
I was so happy to see late 70s all coming week on Friday. Today I checked it's all 80s & 90s except for 1 day at 78. I'm sure it's related to our drought.
Trying to plan my days as I was on mini vacation off-n-on for the last few days. Awesome time with friends first then siblings and their families. And this long weekend with parents for Father's Day. Loved the quality time with tons of laughter. While mom loves shopping and gardening, dad enjoys quiet conversations and walking and taking care of lots of trees. Enjoyed teaching him new apps on his smart phone. Although it's so simple for us, I'm awed at his inspiration to still learn techie stuff.
I'm really or should I say my body is really bad when it comes to temp changes. When I was getting 'cooked' with hot weather, it took awhile to recover. I am finally back to par and ready for lots of steps for next few days.

Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is doing well! I just thought I would pop by this morning and see how this team is doing since I have not been here for a while! I see there are still many faithful followers and glad to see it!
I have to agree with Bren as I too get closer to the 50 mark, still have a year and a half to go but I do like this team and our awesome team leader the best! So hope you stay Bren and continue to cheer with us all!
Hope all of you are walking and getting in those great steps. I know I sure am. I had to get a new fitbit last month as I wore my other one out after 2 years. It was the first version so it was coming apart at the middle of the device. I love the new one since the clip is separate and you just put the fitbit in the little cllipper thing!

Bren, maybe we can create a "transitioning from 40's to 50's group. I am not far behind you at 48, and I do like this group of gals.

If you have been reading my statuses and blogs, you know that I got sick and went in to Urgent Care on Sunday. I spent a lot of that day doing nothing. Thursday, I was in a car and in computer training for most of the day (12 hours) but did get out for a walk/hike to the park, along one of the nature trails and back to my apartment. Don't know if I will get many more steps today.

Hey Girls!
Jen you are doing great! So glad we are fitbit friends!

I was on a great roll and then today I ate myself silly. Feel terrible...but I know I will get back on track tomorrow...seems like it happens to me every once in awhile.

Listen, I just looked through all those 50 somethings teams to see what they were like, and I have to be honest. I just want to devote my time to the 3 teams I love: this one, my NH team and another I recently joined. If you 40 somethings will have me, I'd love to stay here. I promise when I turn the big 5-0 I won't go on and on about it...but I've just grown so fond of you all (hoping Holly and Val come back soon!) that I just can't bear to leave. If there is a rule or an issue with it, I will certainly bow out...but for now, if you'll have me, I want to stay.

Hey Jen, awesome you got Fitbit. But you need to sync to our SparkPeople to get all the full benefits. One of the best is you'll never have to manually enter steps as an exercise as it'll automatically do it for you. I'll send you SparkMail with link on how to sync Fitbit to your SP acct.

And regarding the difference in number of steps. Not sure about that. But I know Fitbit is much smarter. I was having fun when I got my new Fitbit One. Tried pretending to walk while holding Fitbit in my hand sitting down. Regular pedometer I was walking fine but with my Fitbit no steps. Just laughing with hubby and testing new Fitbit. I know, silly. Lol.

I was in the pool at work on Wednesday for 2 hours and Thursday for 3 hours. Looking at my step count on Wednesday, no wonder I was so tired. Hadn't put that together till I just looked at it in black and white. These are pedometer readings. The fitbit has lower numbers, still not sure exactly why, but am guessing that my wrist is too stable when I am pushing wheelchairs at work.

Okay, so Tuesday's pedometer reading was 15,904 and fitbit recorded 13,798. I don't know where the discrepancy is, but I wonder if my wrist is too stable when I am pushing wheelchairs for fitbit to accurately track my steps. I carry my pedometer in my pocket, so perhaps that is getting "extra" from other movements?

Weekends are usually a challenge for me to get in my 10,000. It is hot and humid which makes me not want to go out walking, but I am staying at my sister's and she has a treadmill in her air-conditioned house. I hate treadmill walking, but it would be a way to get in my steps.
