Welcome Sara

Please understand that you are not lone. This has happened to all of us. We learn from our msitakes. I hate thinking of this as a diet. It's a way of life. fFind the foods that you can be excited about eating and love to exercise. Take long walks. I hope you have people in the home who can give you support. If now we are here for you. It would be nice if you ahve a f4iend to walk with . No beating up on yourself. You are well worth the effort to be healthy

Welcome, Sara! This is, after all, a journey, and if you can view this as another way to learn about yourself, you won't add even more stress, which tends to also lead to weight gain!

Welcome!

Weight loss is accomplished with the mind.

A person who wants something WILL find a way....a person who doesn't will find an excuse.

Which do you prefer?
The pain of self discipline?....or...the pain of self regret?

Your body and your mind were telling you that your re-gained weight didn't feel right; so that is a good sign. Glad you are here. Don't use your energy to mope about the weight you gained. Use it, instead, to take positive steps to re-direct to a healthier path.
Like the prior poster, I've looked around for new ideas and info to help me continue my journey. I've been working on "mindful eating" (there's a good book out of the same name). This has been helping me with my night grazing. Also, sounds as if you need to find some good outlets for stress relief - can you walk?
You can do this. You've done it before. Just this time, you need to build in an "early warning" stress system so you can kick in extra exercise or whatever to avoid weight creepage in tough times. We are all rooting for you!

You are back before it is all regained. You have NOT failed because you are BACK and you have picked yourself up before you slid all the way back to the beginning or even past the starting point and gained MORE than you lost. Look at the great success of doing so well for so long. NOW, let the past go and dust yourself off and make a new plan and get back on track. Do you have any idea why after doing so well, you started to slip? I had lost a little more than 30 pounds and regained a lot more than HALF of what I lost and kept off for several years - I know exactly what the trigger was and I have forgiven myself for slipping and have been climbing back out of the pit I was in. I lost 160+ pounds and regained about 150 of them - after the death of my son and around the time my father fell, became and invalid and died.

Start with the knowledge you gained when you lost before but recognize that often new time, new situations, mean you need to find new tricks, tips, and ideas to make it work - at least I did. Much of the old stuff worked but not initially, I needed to find a new way to get started and the old habits started to come back naturally over time.

With love and caring from Nancy ... wishing all of you a wonderful, blessed, and precious day.

Hi Sara,

Not sure I can provide much support as I'm in the same boat..ONLY I have gained "ALL" of it back. I think you noticing where you are now is huge. You know the hard work it took to lose the weight and you also know you don't want to do it again. I'm trying to replace the "bad" food with good, like carrots, celery, peppers, etc. Maybe instead of grabbing the bad food you can grab that until you can get a better handle on the "why".

I don't know...

I am going to work out five days this week (waaaay more than ever) but once I succeed in that it might make me realize I can really do what I put my mind to.

Good luck...you can do this. Tell that stupid voice in your head to shut-up!

Emily

Hi all-
I am feeling so fat today! I am Sara and I just joined this site. I am excited about starting fresh with new goals but I am definitely going to need the support of members on this site to follow through with my weight loss plan.

A few years ago I lost 30 pounds. I kept it off for 3 years! But my worst nightmare is coming true... I am gaining it back emoticon

I have gained about 15 pounds over the past 6 months. It all started when I moved and got a new job. Looks like my tendency to eat emotionally has come back to haunt me! I really want to be a healthy weight. Hope I can meet like minded people so we can keep each other accountable:)
