I know I'm not going through so much. I know other people are worse off and I should be grateful, but I am in a slightly self-loathing, I-hate-life kind of state. I just need to rant and I really, really, really appreciate the feedback all of you are giving me. It's nice to be able to let it out to someone who is detached from my life. I know the endorphins from exercise will make me happier. I just need to get back into the routine of going to the gym. I know life will get better; it's just hard to envision sometimes.

Oh, and I love to dance real crazy to music. It does uplift me. :D

I read. it gets me away from thinking and I also ride my stationary bike while I'm reading. I get my workout in and also get to relax. It is my 30 minutes a day.

Drink water before eating or exercise when you want to eat. Both help curb the cravings

Great tips.

I walk "it" out of my system. And as has been said, get rid of the junk food. This way if you munch, at least it will be on carrot sticks or popcorn or something low in calories. It seems to be working here. Hang in there!

I have two favs for releasing my stress:
1. Journal ... see my blog ... link below
2. I ride my stationary bike ... great stress reliever!

Whatever works to get rid of the stress and the associated emotions vs. eating them!

May I suggest you writing down your feelings in a journal. You may find after a period of time that a pattern will emerge. We cannot let food control us, clean out your kitchen from junk food and only have healthy foods available to you. If you get stressed out you won't be a danger to yourself if overeating carrots. But get to the root of the problem. Don't put a bandaid on the issue, dig deep and get it out in the open.

When stress hits me bi time... i take my weary body to my favorite spot on the river and I sit on "My unthinking rock" I close my eyes and try not to think of anything. the scenery is so peaceful it brings me back to reality in an hour or two. there comes a time when you need to really unwind without chocolate. a beach, lake, meadow or any favorite place of yours maybe under a back yard tree.

Yep, I understand what you're going through.

I had finals last week and while I survived from any kind of binge eating from that, the day after my last final is when I found out that my DH was being laid off soon. I binged on potato chips for 3 days!

I "woke up" when I stepped on the scale Monday for my weekly weigh-in. Sighhhh....Up 2 pounds! To think I had wasted all that hard work, I renewed my vow to keep pounding away.

Have you created a visual to look at as a constant reminder? Pictures of how you want to look, etc.? It's a great way to respark your motivation, especially when you're at work.

Good luck!

I've always been an emotional eater, but lately I've been under a lot of stress. First exams so I used that as an excuse for my overeating. Now those are over with. Now I'm using work as an excuse. And anxiety that I have from other potential jobs and being a failure/not accomplishing anything is creeping in at full force. I don't know what to combat this. I haven't been insanely binging, but I have been eating crap. Breads, pastas, chocolate. I'm a carboholic. I have never been one for soft drinks either, but in the past two weeks that's what I've been reaching for. Perhaps it's for a sugar rush? Surprisingly, I have lost 2 pounds in the last two weeks. I guess this is due to lack of sleep, lots of running up and down stairs (at work)and having little time to eat. But when I do eat, it's crap like I said. Anyway, I feel if I post this it will help me release some of my issues.

Thanks for listening.
