Okay, I am confused, but fasting so I won't get into this, as right now I would eat a bucket of beans and not even care if they were red, white, green or even navy. emoticon

Oh! Our navy or northern beans are a tannish color! But you know. . . they really both do have similar flavor . . . to me anyway. The cannellinii bean is bigger than the northern bean (cannolini's are the same size as kidney beans). Hope that helps!

CD Barb ~ when Bebop said 'white bean salad', the canollini beans were the only white beans I could think of. How could you have 'navy beans' in a 'white bean' salad? To me, navy is the colour blue? This is so confusing as I've never heard of navy beans either.

canollini beans are really just white kidney beans (at least that's what they're called here).

northern beans are also called navy beans here.

Sounds really yummo emoticon Bebop. Are northern beans anything like cannonelli beans? Prolly spelt that wrong, but just wondered. I can get all the other ingredients but just never heard of those beans.

Oh my goodness . . . anything with tabasco sauce is good to me! I didn't always like foods spicy, but seems as though as I've "aged" it tastes good to me.

Hi everyone! This past week, I felt I really needed to get in more protein on my fast day. I went for tuna and ended up making a tuna white bean salad for dinner. It is so easy - 1 can of tuna packed in water, 1/2 cup of northern beans, a 1/4 cup of chopped red onions soaked in a tbsp of lemon juice (to mellow them) and some tabasco sauce. You can also add so fresh salsa (1-2 Tbsp) or some chopped tomatoes. All this for less than 300 calories. I don't really like tuna, but it is low calorie, high protein. I liked it with tabasco sauce so much, I made it again on a non fast day!

I'd never heard of quorn, either, but I checked out my supermarket's online set and you can buy it there. Apparently it is made of a fungus of some kind, which sounds slightly off putting but when you think tofu is fermented soybeans.... On the shopping list it goes!

I have tried veggie burgers and crumbles, it's the minced corn and chunks that the advertising company's say tastes just like meat and looks like curd that I can't bring my self to try:)

I love veggie burgers and veggie 'crumbles'. They are very tasty and have the same consistency as meat. You should try them! The veggie crumbles can be used just like you would hamburger, but you don't have to cook them as thoroughly. All you need to do is heat them up.

Women and cats do what they please, men and dogs just have to deal with it.

I have a question. When I looked at the video just now, he talked about Quorn. Is that a meat substitute like a veggie burger? Just curious....

I think the best effort day is a wonderful option though I did manage to achieve one 500 day. I was afraid I would "never" be able to hit 500 or less calories in a day. Knowing best effort is an alternative makes you feel it is more achievable. That is not to say you cannot "aim for" the 500 goal. Good Luck all!

Yep, DEE's seem to be the most popular at the moment Ramona. Always the way to go if you're diabetic. Very achievable tho' as it's simply a put in your Day of Extra Effort... too easy and don't stress about it.

Seems to me, if we are ALL just mindful twice a week, of CICO (Calories In, vs Calories Out) then we shall be a far healthier crew! Yes?

Being diabetic I've been cautioned about too low calories like that. My blood sugar has been going lower than normal readings these past couple weeks anyhow. But I love the idea especially of the Best Effort Day. I'm in the process of working on new goals and plans so B.E.D. will be in my plans for sure. Thanks!

Start with small steps and momentum will build. Celebrate moving in the direction of increased happiness now! With a plan and persistence moving towards your goals all things are possible! ♥ From Ask-Angels.com

Okay, Mel. Maybe I will choose Tuesday and Thursday. Monday's are too busy and Fridays, before the weekend, are usually busy too. emoticon

As far as recipes, if I see any that are good, I will surely share. emoticon

Chelsea~ my days are Wednesdays and Fridays. Most people choose Mondays and Thursdays. Mid week days seem to be easier for most rather than opting for weekends as too much stuff is going on Sats and Suns for people.

Do your very best on your 2 'BEST EFFORT DAYS'! Don't forget to claim your Rosette on that forum either, and also maybe contribute with some lo-cal meals that we can all enjoy?

I am not on ONE of those days today, but am still opting for the Chick Pea Salad that I've put on the Forum @ only 45 calories for a serve. I just LOVE stuff that fills and is LO-CAL and the more hints and recipes we have, the better!!

I like that goal! I will write down everything I eat two days a week, to start (I do none now emoticon ). Then once I feel more settled with my new weight training goal, I will look more into the 5:2 diet. emoticon

Works great for me too!

Don't forget tho', that the 5:2 or lo-cal is for 'die-hards'. Anyone on the team with worries that stop them doing this, then you have the option of going for the: 'Best Effort Day' whereby you do your very best at watching your food intake for 2 days a week. Reduction of calories you normally eat every day, is the way to go!
