Family, I just felt like the Lord put it on my heart tonight to share some real life accounts of miracles that I (and one or more other folks I know of) have experienced.
I think one of the things that is hard for people to imagine or believe - even Christians - is that God cares that much about what's going on in our lives. I've told the story of how growing up, though my parents loved God and practiced their respective Christian faiths, it was more of a distant relationship we had with God. My family wanted to be close to the Lord but didn't really understand how. We knew God was BIG but He also seemed to be WAY UP THERE, in a distant universe far away.
For a good part of my life, my view of how I could approach God and what I could talk to Him about was kind of off balance. As a child, I'd been taught to pray about spiritually acceptable things, and as an adult, I could never think of enough spiritual things to pray about, and I didn't really understand how God viewed me as His child. However, many years later, quite a while after I'd returned to the Lord and my faith, the Lord showed me something.
I was sitting early one morning outside a coffee shop in the country near where I live, sipping my morning brew. I became entranced watching a young father preparing to take his little 3 year old baby girl on a bicycle ride. The bike had a special child seat attached to it, and the father was preparing his child - he put some kind of covers on her little arms and legs, and was putting a helmet on her head, when she began to protest violently. She did NOT want to wear that helmet, and she struggled every bit of the way until her Dad finally got her secured in it. Even with her yelling and fussing, he never lost his patience or yelled at her. He spoke quietly and just kept patiently working at dressing her in protective gear. When he was finished, she finally calmed down, sitting in her seat. THEN THIS: after all her fussing and fighting, he knelt down, looked at her, smiled, kissed her little cheeks and embraced her before getting on the bicycle himself and taking her for a ride. I could hear her little giggles as they rode off.
At that moment, I heard the Lord say in my heart, "That is how some of my children behave when I am trying to help them. I am trying to speak to them; I am trying to embrace them; I am trying to guide them, and they are struggling against Me, determined to do things in their own strength. If they would only stop and listen and rest in Me, I would show them great and wonderful things, and they would see and recognize My hand more in their lives. You see this earthly father lovingly, tenderly and patiently caring for his little child? That is how I feel about My children."
So I ask you to give this some thought, dear family. Think of your own children (for those that don't have children, think of someone you really love). How do you feel about them? Do you enjoy seeing them, embracing them, providing favorite food and clothing for them? Do you like to hear about their day, and what they are learning, and if they need anything? At Christmas and birthdays and everydays, do you try to give them a gift that will please them and make them happy? When you see them smiling and laughing, does it melt your heart, and make you want to see them even more happy? Do you ever feel - after you have poured love and gifts and whatever good thing you can think of - upon them, that you just want to think of more ways to bless them and show them you love them?
That is Father God. That is our wonderful Lord!
The awesome thing that I have learned as I've grown in my walk with the Lord is that - as our Father - we can pray and ask and talk to Him about anything. He loves us! He cares about every little thing in our lives. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to, "Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully." There is nothing too big and nothing too small for His attention. If it concerns you, it concerns Him.
All this leads to this: below are links to 3 blogs I wrote a few months ago about various kinds of miracles I have experienced from the Lord in my life. While I do not base my faith in God on my experiences (our faith must be based on what is written in His Word), my experiences merely bear testimony to what is written in His Word, and the love and care He holds for each one of us.
If you could use some encouragement or something to feel in awe about or just something to make you smile, please read these blogs. They were posted to bless and encourage folks, and help all to see how much God loves and cares about the details of our lives.
