Romans12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer you bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God ----this is your spiritual act of worship.
2) Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will able to test and approve what God's will is -his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Absolutely, the Holy Spirit is our Helper. He is our Power source for He is the power arm of God. It is through His empowerment that we are able to live above the circumstances of life and have authority over the power of the devil!

25 "These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. 26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 27 "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. 28 "You heard that I said to you, 'I go away, and I will come to you.' If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 "Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe. (John 14:25-29 NAS)

Let us always remember that the Father has given us a Helper ( the Holy Spirit) to be with us constantly to help us, heal us and to guide us. Christ did not leave us defenseless. Amen, we must put on the armor of God everyday. The Whole armor of God. Father, be with us during this day and keep us safe and battle worthy. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thank you, Gayle for that scripture and comment. Yes, the armor of God protects us from the schemes of the devil and is very important in a successful life of victory for each one of us.

Thank you, Sandra, for your comment. The flesh must die daily to its desires and be submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Trix, that is an emoticon Scripture! It is so true! Whenever sickness or injury attacks my body, or a problem comes into my life, I go to the Word of God for His instruction and His power, and He ALWAYS heals and delivers me!

That verse always makes me think of the beauty and perfection of the salvation God has given us. He is Almighty God and He is also our wonderful and loving Father, as He has called us in His Word! Many people think salvation means I get to go to heaven someday when my body dies. That is true but there is more.

Throughout the New Testament the words “save,” “saved,” and “salvation” have their root in the original Greek word “SOZO” whose definition includes to SAVE, RESCUE, DELIVER, PROTECT, HEAL, PRESERVE, AND MAKE WHOLE.

The Greek word “soteria” (which has origin in “sozo”) is the primary word translated as "salvation.” “Soteria” also means deliverance, health, well-being, salvation, and to save and saving.

Additionally, there is a connection between the Greek word for salvation "soteria" and the Hebrew word shalom or “peace.” The word shalom means “completeness, wholeness, peace, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, absence of agitation or discord, to be complete, perfect and full.”

God did not put us here to live a miserable, scraped-out existence. Every good thing we have and receive is from His Hands. So if we believe in God's salvation, then we should trust God for provision, for healing, for deliverance, for preservation, for well-being, and to be made whole, and more. His Word says so.

Thank you Trix... for that inadvertent reminder of God's gracious gifts!

Sandra, honey, I've been up since 3:30 praying and seeking God for some answers to your questions. I pray God's blessings over your life; that He will pour out His goodness on you and reveal Himself to you as the loving heavenly Father that He is. May you live life to the fullest and experience the good plan that He has for your life, filled with hope for a good future in Him.

While it's true that there will always be evil in our world because we live in a fallen world, Jesus said that we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world and deprived it of it's power to harm us. (John 16:33) Yes, people are mistreated in the world today and we are instructed to overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) We are also told that God has made us more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37) We can either choose to focus on the negative of what we see going on around us or we can place our trust and faith in God and live as the conquerors that He has designed and created us to be in His image and likeness. Our perspective will either lead us towards the negative or the positive. God says in 2 Corinthians 1:20 that His promises are "yes" and "amen" "to the glory of God through us". This team was formed to proclaim the promises of God in the face of life's problems. We do that by placing our trust and faith in God and standing on His word to overcome the enemy in our lives. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), so by faith we will go forward leading people to the victory that God gives us in Christ Jesus.

God all so talks about those who are poor and used as labor servants Sick He talks about how he will reward them later He put us all were he wanted us God never promised us a good or easy life Read all not just the parts we like There always was those with much and those who used people to get much There all so was those who did back breaking labor so others had a easy life People was not all ways thought of as equal Love of others or they would not have expected so much for so little of others The warld was not good And it is not now ether

You have some valid questions, Sandra. When I don't understand the "whys" of things I pray for God's direction and I listen for His Spirit to lead me and guide me into all truth. His word is truth as stated in John 17:17.

We know that Daniel prayed 3 times a day and I'm sure he, as a man ready to be thrown into the lion's den, prayed about that situation. Daniel was willing to go into that lion's den to prove that his God reigned supreme and would not allow harm to come to him because he believed in his God. (See Daniel 6:23) In Old Testament times the Holy Spirit only came upon Prophets, Priests and Kings. An individual outside of one of those three categories could not hear God's voice because the Holy Spirit was not given to believers until Jesus ascended back into Heaven and the Holy Spirit was sent to take His place on the earth. If people wanted to know God's will they had to hear it from the Bible in part, since it had not been fully written, and/or a Prophet, Priest or King. Daniel was saved from harm because of his faith in his God. Everything that we receive from God comes by His grace through our faith because it is by grace through faith that we are saved according to Ephesians 2:8, 9. It is difficult to exercise our faith when we don't know God's will in a situation.

Knowledge of God's will is progressive and is given through revelation of the Holy Spirit as we pray and study God's word. Jesus made the way through His crucifixion for us to come to God through Him to pray and hear from God. The Old Testament believers did not have that ability; they had to go through the Prophet, Priest or King. God's will is His word. We grow in the understanding of His will from the time we are "born again" until the time comes for us to arrive at our eternal home with Him in heaven. As we study God's word we come to know God's character and nature. We can understand His will through His word, revelation given by the Holy Spirit and understanding His character and nature.

Hebrews 1:3 tells us that Jesus is the "express image" of God so we can look at the life of Jesus and see God at work. Romans 1:17, 18 tells us that the law came through Moses but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ and that even though no one has seen God, His only begotten Son has revealed Him to us. So another thing we can see through the life of Jesus is God's will for mankind. We know that Jesus paid the price for the sin of mankind. That's how we know that it's not God's will that any should perish but that He wills that all should come to repentance and be saved. We also hear that spoken through the apostle Peter in 2 Peter 3:9.

Jesus said in John 10:30 "I and My Father are one." So we know that Jesus is God and we can look at His life, how He interacted with people while He walked on this earth and understand God's will. In John 5:19 Jesus said that He could do nothing of Himself, "but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner." And again in John 5:30 Jesus said, "I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me." So it's clearly evident that Jesus is God in the flesh and when we look at His life we can see God at work.

Your questions are ones that many have struggled with throughout the ages. But if Jesus is God in the flesh and we can know God's will through looking at His life in action, is there anywhere in God's word where we see through the life of Jesus where He put sickness and disease on a person to cause them to become stronger or to teach them something? No, quite the contrary; we see Him instead answering the requests of sick people through healing them. Acts 10:38 says that "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." In Luke 13:10-17 we see the story of a woman coming into the synagogue who was bent over with a spirit of infirmity. She hadn't been able to stand up straight for eighteen years. Jesus attributed her illness or "infirmity" as being from Satan. In verse 16 He says: "So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound--think of it--for eighteen years, be loosed from this bondage on the Sabbath?" John recorded in 1 John 3:8 that Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.

Now, concerning Paul's thorn in the flesh. This has been a subject of theological debate for years. I don't proclaim to know everything about God or why Paul's prayer for removal of the thorn was answered in the manner that it was. However, through my understanding of the scriptures I see that Paul's thorn was a messenger from Satan, that it was an "infirmity", thus originating with Satan, and that God told him to draw upon His grace to fight this battle with the enemy. Paul said that he would rather boast in his infirmities, "that the power of Christ may rest upon me." Jesus said to Paul that His "grace" was sufficient for him to fight this battle because what he lacked in his own personal strength was made perfect or matured through drawing upon God's grace. There are several definitions for "grace". One of them is God's unlimited power to do in us what we cannot do in and of ourselves. I believe what Jesus was saying to Paul about that thorn was that he didn't need God to deliver him from it because he had the power through his relationship with Christ Jesus to fight and win the battle against it. Now, again, I remind you that I am not all-knowing, only God is and I don't proclaim to know all about Him or His word, but as I have studied this portion of scripture this is what I have learned about Paul's thorn.

Sandra, you are one of many who have questions that are difficult and hard to answer. It is not my desire to debate the scriptures with you or anyone else, but as a Leader I feel it is my responsibility to try to lead our team in learning how to overcome life's challenges through applying, proclaiming and declaring God's promises. That's why this team was formed and I will do my best to answer yours and anyone else's questions on how to achieve this victory through their relationship with Christ Jesus.

I know this has been long, but these questions do not have a simple "yes" or "no" answer. I think Jesus summed up for us the perfect explanation to the "whys" of life when He told us in John 10:10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." What He is ultimately saying is that the devil is bad and He is good....all the time! When we come to understand that the devil comes to steal from us, to kill and destroy our lives we can understand the true enemy that we have and it's not God. A lot of the problems we have are simply from living in a fallen world that has been corrupted through sin and originates with the devil. Jesus came to give us abundant life. God is good and the devil is bad....a simple explanation to the "whys" of bad things happening to good people.

Thank you for your comment, Sandra.

We often do not see our prayers answered in a positive manner because we have not taken the time to seek God's will before we pray. But scripture is clear that when we pray according to God's will we will have what we have asked of Him.

1 John 5:14, 15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

God's will is not automatic. If it were there would have never been the Fall of man in the Garden of Eden. God has given His man the freedom to choose whether to follow Him or live by his own standards and desires. We see again in 2 Peter 3:9 that God is "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." And yet there are countless people going out into eternity doomed to life without the Lord day after day. If God's will were automatic everyone would be saved and there would be no need for Jesus to die for the sin of mankind.

We can know God's will through the study of His word and through communing with and hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit who leads us and guides us into all truth.

John 16:13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."

Amen! Thank you for that testimony, Judi! God is the healer! He works His healing in many different ways, sometimes instantly through a gift of the Holy Spirit such as the gift of healings or the laying on of hands, sometimes through a Physician, sometimes by standing on God's word in faith, and sometimes by cooperating with His wisdom in making right choices for our physical bodies. People who are healed instantaneously sometimes lose their healing by going back to the unhealthy things that opened the door for sickness to come upon them in the first place. When we learn to cooperate with Him in receiving His healing power through whatever means He wishes to bestow it upon us we are ready to experience His healing power in us and then to be able to pass it on to others as you are doing through your testimony!

Thank you, Judi, for giving God the praise!

Just a little witnessing here. Two years ago, give or take, I was diabetic, hypertensive, morbidly obese, high cholesterol, depressed and bi-polar. I rededicated myself to taking care of my Lord's temple (my body) and today I am no longer diabetic, hypertensive, morbidly obese, cholesterol is normal, not depressed and do not suffer from bi-polar. Get the picture??? With Christ, all things are possible for those who are called according to his purpose. Thank you Jesus. Could not have happened without YOU. Judi

Very definitely! Sometimes the health issues that we fight are self-inflicted because we haven't taken good care of ourselves. He wants us to work with Him in establishing good health in our bodies so we can live long and serve Him in good health! Thank you, Sandra, for that comment!

He has provided healing through the crucifixion of Jesus but are we walking on the blood of Jesus when we don't take care of our bodies?

Renew your mind to the truth of God's word today from Isaiah 53:4, 5: Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by HIs stripes we are healed.

Look at the definitions of the important words in these scriptures:
Griefs - Hebrew word literally means "sicknesses"
Sorrows - Hebrew word means "sorrows"
Wounded - Hebrew word means "pierced through"
Transgressions - Hebrew word means wickedness and rebellion
Bruised - Hebrew word means crushed
Iniquities - Hebrew word means our bent to sin or our nature to sin
Chastisement - Hebrew word means correction or discipline
Peace - Hebrew word means wholeness, completeness
Stripes - Hebrew word means blows that cut in

This is a picture of the crucifixion of Jesus and what His crucifixion did for us. He paid for our healing, spirit, soul and body through the stripes that He took and being nailed to that cross.

Matthew 8:17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying: "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses."

1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.

Isaiah prophesied of Jesus' crucifixion and that He would pay the price for our healing from all aspects of sin; effects to the spirit, soul and body of man. Matthew told of how Jesus was the fulfillment of that prophecy and Peter tells us that looking at Jesus' payment for our sin through His crucifixion, by the stripes that He bore, we were healed. We were healed at the cross so we are healed through making Him Savior and Lord of our lives!

God's word has a lot to say about taking care of our physical bodies. One primary scripture that shows that is 3 John 2: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Our soul is our mind, will and emotions. So if we are to prosper in health according to the prosperity of our mind, will and emotions then that means that our soul needs to be healthy. Our minds need to be renewed to the word of God to know exactly how God feels about our health, our will needs to be set to obey God's word in achieving good health and our emotions need to be brought into alignment with the truth of God's word in applying it to our lives for good health. We must understand that God wants us healthy and then apply His word to work with Him in achieving that healthy place in life.
