Honestly - Insanity was hard on my body - tendinitis, etc....but I enjoyed it. P90X2 is just ridiculous! Or I am old.....LOL.

Hi Lauren and emoticon

I'm sorry to hear about your back injury. Have you seen anyone for it?
Yoga is great at strengthening the back muscles, but they need to be in decent shape before you go back to it.
Take care.

The Marine Crops marathon is on my "to run" list too, but it tends to clash with the Denver marathon, which is one of my favorites to run since it's at elevation, and is very well supported locally. Also, it was my first marathon back in 2008, so I have almost an emotional connection to it!

Hmmm...so looks like maybe P90X is a little like the "Insanity" program? That really IS insane, and well beyond my aging body's capabilities.

I was going to the Y regularly for a while, then stopped in November. I need to get back into it!

I picked up some yoga DVDs, then hurt my back. I don't blame the yoga - I think it was a combination of things, including work, where I lift and transfer clients. I need to get back into yoga slowly to avoid injuries.

I am hoping for the Marine Corps Marathon but may have to adjust fire.

I just think that P90X2 is just too extreme. I was hoping for it to be more ST and this just seems to be "what kind of crazy moves can we come up with".

Rhonda,

So which marathon are you training for?
I've heard very mixed reports on the new P90X2. Is there anything in particular you dislike about it?

Yep, Fridays are my long run days. As a matter of fact tomorrow I have a 16 miler scheduled. It will be my first attempt - the longest I have gone is 14.
I, too, love P90X but I hate P90X2.

Would love to try a Cross Fit workout!

ELECTRALYTE: Ouch on the broken ankle. How did you manage to do that? I hope you're healing well.

MRS. CARLY: I love Zumba too. There aren't any classes near me, but I have the DVD.
I'm also easily "bored" and switch up my routine every 2-3 weeks or so.

Rhonda: I'm a runner too. Your regimen sounds similar to mine in many ways. Do you have a "Long run" day? Mine is Monday, unless I have a scheduled race over the weekend!

Crystal: I hope you're making good use of the new gym membership. Did you get a session with a Personal trainer with that?

ORCHIDLADY56: I haven't tried Crossfit yet, but would like to. I've done TRX and P90X on-and-off for a while...it's tough but it works!!!

My regimen looks like this:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday running, cycling, combination of both OR Brisk (4.2mph) walk and jog/run. With P90X Plyometrics workout thrown in there to mix things up a little.
Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday: Weights including machines, free-weights, and the P90X program.
Sunday: If it isn't race day, I'll generally have an "easy day" = brisk walking, light jogging, or a DVD.
I do Yoga every day.

I've been doing Crossfit for about the last year and a half. Dearly love it, but you have to be prepared when you walk in to give it your all!

I fell off the exercise wagon, hence the 15 pounds that snuck back on. The desk job doesn't help either. However I joined the gym a month ago and have met my goal of walking three days a week for an hour, covering four miles per hour.

I'd like to do more and would welcome any ideas that would be a logical addition to the walking, say pushups and situps or something.

I'm trying a new program! I ordered the Brazil Booty DVDs, those things really work your booty by the way! I also lift weights, circuit training 3 times a week, I try to hit some classes as well, spinning, zumba, all that good stuff! On the weekends I go for a jog or walk!

can't you tell I'm EASILY bored?!?!?

I do walking outdoors mostly. I have plenty of beaches and Redwoods to roam in.
I also do DVDs and my treadmill.
I do free weights for upper body, trying to tone my arms.
About 5 or 6 days a week for a long time now. Except when my ankle was broken and I was in a walker for a year. emoticon

What is YOURS?

Do you do cardio/aerobics alone? Or do you lift weights too?

Cycling? Running? Walking? What do you like to do?

Are you following any particular plan?

How long have you been exercising regularly?
