Vicky,
I had to throw out a couple of my Alba products because they had toxic ingredients. I don't trust all their products now. Do you only look for products that are clear of animal products and animal testing? Or do you check all ingredients for their danger rating?
Have you used the Skin Deep Data base?

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

When I went vegan, I cleaned up my act in all areas, food, beauty products, cleaning supplies, vitamins.

I only use non-animal tested vegan beauty stuff, and Ecover makes a lot of nice green cleaning supplies for the house.

If you are interested in reduced priced beauty stuff, you go try www.luckyvitamin.com, I buy a lot of my vegan stuff from them as they discount up to 75% on many items.

Some natural companies you may consider are : Alba, Beauty without Cruelty, Ecco Bella, Aromavera.....

If you need advice or suggestions, just ask me, as I had to convert my whole house and all my creams, deodorants, scrubs, toners, etc when I went vegan.

Here's is a website where you can look up skin care products and ingredients to see how they score in toxicity. Grab your favorite skin care product and enter any ingredient listed on the label that you have a question about into the search field and you will find out if it is bad for you or not. Even things that you think are ok may have problems. Many of the so-called healthy and/or organic skin care products have toxic ingredients.

I also use natural products to clean my home.
I am looking into personal products as well to start using.
Clean to me, also means taking a trash bag and cleaning up the neighborhood when I go for walks with my dog, and using reusable grocery bags etc.
I'm trying to clean up all areas of my life!

Here's a link to some really good information:

www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/

It seems pretty sound to me. If our bodies naturally produce oil to protect and repair the skin, then why would we want to strip it away? Instead, the idea is that "like dissolves like," so you remove dirt and makeup with oil and end up with clean skin without stripping the natural oils from your face. You use a combination of castor oil (that's the one that cleans) and a moisturizing vegetable oil of your choice. 1:1 ratio is for normal skin, and if your skin is oily you use more castor oil, and if your skin is dry you use more vegetable oil. Then you steam your face, either with a hot washcloth or a steamer and then use the washcloth to wipe away the oil.

It sounds gross at first, but the first time I tried it, my face felt like a baby's butt! So I'm going to stick with it a little bit and see if it really does help my wacky skin.

For the majority of my cleaning I use vinegar, baking soda, a green dishsoap and olive oil. Other than that I don't do much else but like you seem to be epanding my clean efforts. What is the oil cleaning method for your face? If you don't mind:)

Hi everyone! I've noticed that there is a certain group of people in this team who have taken the idea of clean beyond food and are applying it in other areas of their life like beauty and even the household. I've also noticed that the longer I continue to eat clean, whole foods, and the longer I listen to my body, the more I seem to want to expand my clean habits.

So my question for all of you is, in what ways other than food do you live clean? Personally, I just switched to an all-natural deodorant (no antipirspirant, yay!) and am trying out the oil-cleaning method instead of using harsh soaps on my face. But I'm always looking for new ideas, and I hope this could be a good thread for throwing around new ways to be clean.
