My joint pain has lessened considerably since I started eating clean but when I drop a few lbs my bad knee has to catch up and it gets loose for a few days during which I eat 5 cherries several times a day. That seems to do the trick.

I'm not sure if it's just in my head or not, but it certainly does feel that if I "cheat" and eat something with HFCS, hydrogenated oils, or sugar in it, my body doesn't rebound so well after workouts. I even tend to get more sore while sitting at my desk at work if I'm not eating well.

I had never been diagnosed with IBS but I had problems with it for years until I cut out the HFCS. I don't care how many people say HFCS is the same as sugar...to me it is much worse! I don't eat soy because of the thyroid (except edamame once in a while), but fortunately I don't have problems with raw foods, gluten or wheat.

I think it is possible to feel better after one day, especially if the things you were eating were something your body couldn't handle. Make sure you drink lots of water, because your body has to get rid of the junk.

I wish I had done a daily journal when I began, because I don't remember how long it took to feel better. I was too busy concentrating on what to do, and then one day I realized it had been a few weeks since I spent a day in bed riddled with pain.

Now, if I eat wrong I feel it in my back within a few hours, and I don't feel well the entire next day.

Its wonderful to see how much great feedback we have gotten on this subject!! I am really impressed!! Batiko1, you certainly know what we are going thru!! Not only do I have to watch out for the HFCS but, I also have to watch out for high fiber foods, soy and wheat!! I also have IBS and Candida. Any veggies and fruit I have has to be well cooked and pureed. Also have to be careful of gluten. Like I eat Bob's Red Mill gluten free steel cut oatmeal and cook it well. So you can see its not easy.

I do try to eat as clean free as I can. Just no raw veggies or fruits. All I know is that its worth eating clean!!

okay guys...so after one day of clean eating I woke up this morning with significantly less stiffness and pain in my feet, wrists, ankles and neck. Still have low back pain. My question is this...Could ONE day of clean eating make this much or a difference or is all this in my head?! Thanks for everyone's help and ideas so far on this!

If you have some time, read the posts on this team. There is a lot of good advice. Most of us on this team follow Tosca Reno's books. You can find out more information at www.eatcleandiet.com/

There are many ways to "eat clean", but the general idea is replacing the processed foods with fresh foods that are as non-processed as possible with as few chemicals as possible. I think that Tosca recommends that you combine protein and carbs at each meal and eat small amounts every few hours rather than large quantities just a few times a day. That keeps cravings down and keeps your insulin level.

For me personally, I began by eliminated high fructose corn syrup because my liver and kidneys were not functioning properly and the fibromyalgia was really bad. I read that there was a connection between liver problems, fibromyalgia and high fructose corn syrup, so I stopped eating it. To eliminate HFCS, I had to go back to eating mostly whole unprocessed foods (it is in practically EVERYTHING!). I found The Clean Eating diet when I was looking for recipes, and started following that as a guideline, although I have to admit I still eat chocolate every chance I get!

After about three months, my body started working better and I was almost pain free. As a bonus, the goiter from thyroiditis that I had suffered from for 11 years disappeared too! Now it has been a year and I feel better than I've felt since I've been an adult.

If you start clean eating, your body will naturally detox over time, but there is also dry skin brushing, which stimulates your lymphatic system to release/eliminate toxins. Some people do detox diets/cleanses but they weren't for me because I couldn't stress my kidneys any more.

The thing that I found out is you don't have to radically change what you eat all at once, just take little steps, and keep adding small changes. Before you know it, you've changed your entire diet and you feel great!

I have joint pain, head pain, stiffness. I'm not diagnosed with anything. I am tired of feeling so crappy. I eat a lot of junk, convenience, and am not into exercising yet. How would I go about starting to eat clean? I really want to feel better. How do I detox my body like someone mentioned?

It is not fun at all. I was in such bad shape that I almost considered disability. You would think office work would be easy on the body, but sitting in a chair to work was agonizing, and if I had to pick up a pack of paper, I was in worse pain all day long.

My neighbor has it too, but she won't listen to me about the diet changes. They have her on all kinds of medicines that are causing her to bloat up, but she isn't getting relief. She is almost to the point where she can't work.

I truly believe that a lot of it is caused from pollutants and toxins. Once my system was given a rest, and I quit filling it with artificial stuff...I felt much better.

Definately. If I eat clean avoiding the HFCS and processed foods, simple carbs, I feel wonderful. As soon as I start eating junk food I have aches and pains all over. Right now my sinuses, head, and joints all hurt and I am miserable, I had some not so good food in the past weeks. I never learn. Also, if I eat right my blood pressure is way down.

I have the same thing and clean eating has been a blessing. It has helped tremendously.

Last night was my 30 year class reunion and I didn't eat clean and I had a few drinks and I woke in the middle of the night in terrible pain. My whole body hurts this morning.

So now it's back to detox all this garbage from my system. It's just not worth it.

Absolutely! Ditto what ETOILA said... Pre-clean eating, I suffered from fibromyalgia so badly that I had trouble getting out of bed. I not only had joint pain, but I also would get muscle spasms (even in my hands if I picked up something too heavy!).

Once I got rid of the artificial stuff, and the HFCS, I can even do kick-boxing now. I have only had a few fibro-days in the past year, otherwise I've been pain-free. The only time it acts up is when I start eating wrong foods again (like if we go out to eat a few times in a row). I end up with back pain, stiff feet and just feel crappy.

Karen, I am really sensitive to sugars of all kind real or artificial. When I am eating sugars my whole body rebels. I have serious neck pain, headaches, and I am exhausted and feel irritable. When I am not eating sugar...I feel great! Clean is a definite way to go!!!

Hi!

Of course, I'm not a doctor but, it sounds to me like you may have Fibromyalgia (I have this). I've done much research on this and they all say the same thing. Stay away from junk food and sugar!! Especially sodas!! Diet or regular. Really bad!! Artificial sweeteners are a no-no on Fibromyalgia. Eating clen surely should help as that what they all recommend. Along with mild, low impact exersize such as walking and rest.

There is alot of info on the net. Just do a Google search!!

Hope I've helped a little. Please remember this is just my two cents on what I've learned thru research.

Does anyone think that clean eating improves joint pain. It seems to me the more sugar and other junk I eat the more my body hurts.
