I have been cutting added sugars for about 3 weeks now and I am consuming about 65-70% less in added sugar than I had been. This past week I have also been playing around with clean recipes since DH is away on business; I thought it would be nice to do without hearing his grumbling. So far I am feeling great! I have Fibromyalgia and normally wait up in the morning drained. I haven't been nearly as tired. I haven't had to take pain meds at night most nights, except for the occasional 200mg asprin if I flared my shoulder during Phys Therapy. I have more energy and concentration during the day and I'm just feeling brighter. I have been staying up later and getting about 7 hours of sleep instead of 9 and I'm going strong. So I am interested to see how this all pans out as I continue to incorporate more clean recipes into my weekly meals.

Clean Eating is like a bad religion- full of obsession and accult thinking.

"How could your embrace be any warmer on a 20 inch waist? I'm Flawless!" Fruit of the Loom Commerical

I am living life with Fibromyalgia (FMS)! I may not be able to do what I once could, but I am better at what I can!

This is my first day of eating clean. Looking forward to checking in in a month.

One month completely clean and I am feeling amazing! I wish I had started this years ago!

I'm only 3 weeks into eating clean, but I feel amazing!

I haven't had to use my sleep aid the last 4 nights (this was after a bout of insomnia last week), I feel energized all the time, and find myself smiling all the time for no reason emoticon

The scale is moving slowly, but I have already been losing inches.

One month of eating clean (down right squeaky) I am already feeling more energetic. I sleep like a baby and have lost over 4 lbs without starving or depriving myself.
Portion control still is the biggest challenge for me, especially when it comes to carbs.

You'll never regret a workout!

Two months in and I definitely have more energy. There have been some negative events in my life and I feel that working on getting the right nutrition stopped me going on a poor eating spiral.

I have my book and website info and feel confident that I can stick to the principles of the plan.

Thank you for your friendly support here. I'm starting yoga and will change teams for a while. Wishing you all a great journey to healthier eating.

It hasn't been a month yet - but my eye whites look whiter ! Sounds funny to notice something like that but there is a link between eyes and health. I had a fairly healthy diet before coming here but some white flour/sugary products got through. I've also cut coffee down to one cup a day and absolutely no cola, even diet.

I'm wondering whether my liver is processing fewer toxins? Whatever it is, it's a beneficial change. emoticon

i've been eating clean for 5 weeks now and am feeling real good about it. i'm off activities due to an ankle sprain so i've realized the importance of eating clean during the last 5 weeks. another 3 weeks minimum before they'll re-assess me to see if i can return to activity. although it's a challenge and an upset to not be able to work out. it's given me, my body and mind, the time to reflect on the importance of my journey and realize what this lifestyle change has given me.

Today is my 1 month anniversary of eating clean. If you saw my blog, you know that I want to eat pizza and ho-hos. But I think that is more about my TOM coming than anything else. I also was vodka. Sweet, sweet vodka.
However, I remember when I gave up smoking (every time I gave up smoking, that is) and I remember that the 1 month point was when it was the hardest for me. So it could be the reason i want the bad stuff. But ever since doing this, my mantra has been "I'd rather be thin than drunk." and right now, "I'd rather be thin than eating pizza."
So that's me. 1 month in.

Hubby and I have been eating clean for 2 months now and I feel so much better. I use to have a hard time getting off my fat butt to want to do anything. Now I'm getting up to do 5k walks, taking my son outside more instead of letting the TV be his babysitter and I love working out now.

Still reading Eat Clean Diet Recharged and my husband and I are on Day 2. He had previously already lost 30# prior and I need to loose about 20+. Haven't had all the cravings as usual. A big thing for me is to not use creamer (Italian Cream) in my coffee which I was addicted to. Day 2 of black coffee hasn't been that bad. Haven't missed creamer as much as I thought. That was one of my first goals...Check in later. Glad to be able to read what others experience eating this way.

I realized something this morning...I thought clean eating was something new and cool and I could learn all about it and get excited about it and do it (it helps to motivate me when I have new stuff to learn) so I bought all Tosca's books and read them and have been doing it for about 20 days..but it hit me...Almost every recipe in my weight watchers books are "clean", I don't HAVE to do Tosca's stuff..lol...I mean some of her stuff is great, but it just hit me that CLEAN isn't a new term, it's just what healthy people eat on a daily basis! DUH, so I went through and marked every recipe in my favorite cookbooks that are Clean...nothing with sugars, although one day I may go through and figure out how to clean them up..but for now, I feel a lot more in control about what we'll be able to eat.

Just dug out my Clean Eating book last week and have been working on getting on track with it for a week and a half. I'm about 50 percent on the track right now and already I am actually getting up on time instead of hitting the snooze bar in the morning, and I haven't had my afternoon candy bar at work in about a week.

I am so excited to find this team too! I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been eating super clean all week (except for one evening and a bowl of potato chips which I am blaming on my kids haha) and I also exercised all week. I have managed to lose 3 pounds the first week. I am so motivated and really want to stick with this! It truly does work!

I just wrote about my one month eating clean on my SP blog, but I also wanted to share something that happened last night.

After a month of eating clean (with, yes, a handful of cheats), last night I joined some friends for ice cream. I just couldn't muster up much interest in my small dish, and I only ate about half. However, that was enough. My mind felt fuzzy and two hours later I crashed HARD from the sugar. Not worth it anymore!

i’ve been eating (mostly) clean for 2 weeks and i have to say i feel SO much better. i have more energy, i don’t feel “gross” after i eat, the foods that i make for myself satisfy me much more than the “diet” frozen meals i used to eat.

that being said i ALMOST slipped up this morning. after i’d fasting for 13 hours and getting a physical, i came very close to stopping for brekkies at a fast food place. i stopped myself by thinking about how healthfully i’d been eating and how icky (and guilty!) i’d be feeling after i had a fast food breakfast sandwich.

i’ve noticed that despite the fact that i used to break “diet” promises to myself all the time, i’m much better at sticking my clean eating promise to myself. have any of you noticed this as well?

So I have been doing this for about a month. I purchased the cook book and got a subscription to clean eating magazine so I could vary my meals...don't want to get bored. I feel great...no afternoon foggy feeling and my energy level is high...have caught the cold my family has had...not as bad as everyone else but am staying hydrated and having fresh food to ward off the cold as long as I can.

I've been steadily eating cleaner for about 3wks now and today and yesterday were very noticeable for me as far as how I felt. I feel awesome. In fact awesome doesn't even begin to describe it. I have cut out all processed foods except for a half a bb bagel in the morning. I just have to have that for energy but I'm going to look into making them homemade. I also eat cheese. I don't know if that counts as unclean or not. I use Kraft and it says all natural, but I eventually plan on seeing if there is a healthier option for that too. I'm scared to look at the ingredients. The third thing that I haven't given up is 1tbspn of Ranch dressing for my salads everyday. Also make sure to check your labels if you aren't feeling the effects, there may be something hiding somewhere that you missed!

I've been incorporating clean eating for over a month now and it's been great. Initially I started as a way to break a plateau but I really do love how it makes me feel. Can't wait for school to let out so I can go fruit picking. There are tons of farms around my area and I'm gonna pick tons of fruits and freeze them for smoothies and pies this winter. I also tried to get into an organic CSA and they were all sold out emoticon At least next year I'll know to start looking sooner.

I weighed in today and lost 4# in my first week of getting serious with tracking my nutrition. I also lost 1.25 inches in my hips, thighs, and bust. I,also, am eating fairly clean... should be incorporating more organic foods, though. I'm also feeling more energetic to tackle those projects like spring cleaning.

Hey 1LB! Let's eat clean!

INDYMAMAOF3-I switched my coffee from creamer to black, and sweetner to a drizzle of honey too. I drank lots and lots of cups before, but am now satisfied with one a day.

Going4Healthy-I too love that look from others as they see all the healthy groceries in the cart!

Stace-This is also my first week of eating clean, and like you, I have lost 3 pounds!!

I can't remember when I joined this group. I really started using Spark on 2/17/10 so I think it has been a month since I started eating clean. I have not read the book, yet, I am a student so once the semester is over that is my goal. In 44 days I have lost 18lbs. I do think it has to do with eating clean. I read every label and if I do not know the ingredients I don't eat the food. I know it has completely curbed any cravings. Once in awhile I get a taste for chocolate but I eat dark chocolate from Trader Joe's that's organic or limited ingredients. I love eating this way and will not go back. I have referred a few folks here so maybe they will show up.

PS....I feel great!

I have been eating clean for 2 weeks and I am feeling great. I have been able to cut my addiction to sugar. My morning joe was fat free creamer (to much to measure), sugar or an artificial sweetener, and a bit of coffee. My hubby used to tease me about having a little coffee with my cream and sugar. But, I started by switching the sugar/sweetener to honey (just a drizzle). Once, I got used to the taste, I switched from creamer to skim milk. For one of the first times, I think that I really got a taste for the coffee that I was drinking. And, you know what, I am not sure that I really like coffee.

I think that I'll be switching to tea. emoticon

Even though I've eaten Clean before, in the past, I have been back at it for 2 months, now. Yay me!

The biggest positive I have noticed, is that I no longer suffer from PMS! No bloating, no scale gains, no tenderness in the chest, and no cravings!! emoticon

When I go shopping and am buying enough to use a cart, I get many looks and positive comments from fellow shoppers, as they take notice of all the 'healthy' foods I'm buying. emoticon

I'm up the challenge of eating clean. I did it years ago without know what it was. I looked good, had energy and felt super. Time to get back on it. The family is going to just have to come along with me.

I started eating clean the first of December, lost weight pretty fast, mainly not eating white sugar. Then mid-December, I got back into white sugar and gained the weight back. Started back to eating clean this week with no white sugar, almost down to where I was before Christmas, weight-wise. But, the most amazing thing is what has happened with my joint pain. Within 3 days of no white sugar and concentrating on Boot Camp, I am not taking any Ibuprofen and the joint pain is mostly gone! Again, I am in the process of convincing myself this is the way to go for me!

Thinmama- I completely agree with the food being wonderful. I thought for sure that the food would be bland but I think I am eating better tasting food than I ever have!

one week eating clean. i know that isn't long but i started feeling better by day 2. more energy,Another thing i noticed that I was surprised of is food tastes so wonderful to me. I think before i was just eating to eat and didn't put much thought in it. But now i'm savoring and really enjoying this.

I feel healthier already. For one i gave up smoking in late october, have also given up coffee and i'm drinking tons and tons of water along with eating clean. On top of all these wonderful things i have lost 10 lbs this week!!! cant wait to see how i'm doing in a 1, 3, & 6 months.

neither success nor failure is permanent...

short term goal:

10%= 23 lbs = 212 lbs by 05/17

39lbs=no longer obese=196 by 6/21

long term goal:
71 lbs=no longer overweight=164 by 10/11

I'm a little over a month without processed foods or refined grains, and I haven't had any diet soda in about three weeks. I eat fresh produce daily, and my fiber intake is around 40 grams a day.

I'm sleeping well and I have more energy. My digestion is much better and I have fewer headaches (I used to get fairly painful ones a few days a week). I find that my meals are more satisfying as well.

Hey Vita,

Please keep us posted on your progress. I too damaged my metabolism with too much calorie restriction. I've since gained and lost over 50 pounds but am still 20 pounds overweight and it's SO much harder to lose. I did without calorie restriction for a long time and maintained this weight... so I'm hoping I can jolt my body and drop some pounds with clean eating too.

I'm in week 2 of Spark, but week 3 of eating clean, so I'll check in in another week or two - hopefully with good news!

:)

It's time for my check in @ 1 month...

I am happy to report that I've lost another 2.7 lbs, bringing my total loss in one month to 10.4 lbs!!! I haven't been under 80 kgs for ages (I think the last time was in Fall, 2005) and I'm really happy that I made it this far!

I have to confess that I haven't been eating 100% clean, last weekend I ate out 4 times and each time I didn't play by the Clean Eating rules...I felt a bit of discomfort after pigging out, so I went back to Eating Clean without feeling too guilty.

I was a bit worried last week because I felt a little bit tired. I thought I wasn't eating enough and was losing muscle mass. I went for a body composition measuring and was happy that the weight I lost was pure fat and my muscle mass was the same!

I don't feel tired anymore and think feeling a little bit tired last week was my 'new' PMS kicking in (I used to get REALLY cranky, wanted to stay in bed all day and eat nothing but Ben and Jerry's...so I'm not complaining anymore about feeling a bit tired, this is a huge improvement!)

I am feeling positive and at ease...I am so happy, I feel like I can definitely achieve my goals this way!

I've been eating clean for 6 weeks now, and I feel really good. I love eating 5-6 small meals a day and often have trouble fitting the last one in because I'm just not hungry...yeah!

I've gotten rid of 5 pounds of fat and have gained some muscle, too. I've been training hard - cardio and weights 5-6 days per week.

I've also gotten rid of an inch in my waist and an inch and a half in my hips. So...all in all...doing well - feeling energetic and positive.

Have a great day everyone!
Pat :-)

One week in and I feel wonderful. The bloating around my stomach is gone. I haven't weighed myself in a few days (don't want to get obsessive about it) but I can feel and see a difference already. The jeans I'm wearing today, I couldn't fit into 2 weeks ago. They're still tight, but they fit! And this is with cardio only 2-3 days per week, and no strength training yet. Eating clean and drinking lots of water has made a huge difference.

I've been eating 100% clean for the last two weeks and I've noticed wonderful changes:

- I lost 7.7 lbs

- My skin has improved (I used to have a rash in my face, went to the dermatologist for several years and after trying many cremes and drugs, I just gave up...who would have ever thought I just had to eat more veggies and less junk to have clear skin!)

- I sleep much better (I fall asleep easier, wake up easier and get by on less sleep)

- I have more overall energy (I used to take an afternoon nap whenever I could, I don't need those anymore)

- I feel happier and I think (I do not know for sure yet, as I'm midway through my week ;) ) it eating clean helps easing PMS

- I feel IN CONTROL and I feel more at peace...it feels like I don't have to worry anymore about what I eat, because I already have my day planned out. If someone asks me if I want some whine, soda, snacks etc. I just answer no, because that food or drink was not made for me to consume! That's the way I feel about it now!

I look forward to checking in with you in a few weeks!

I am starting my eat clean diet plan today. I had oatmeal with strawberries and two egg whites for breakfast. This is typically what I have for breakfast minus the egg whites so this was not a problem. I have been up since 3:00 a.m. and tried to do pilates. It was a new DVD so I didn't get very far. I willl try again tomorrow. I am training for a marathon so I will be walking 4 miles later today. I have packed my lunch and snacks so I will try my best to stick with the program. I want to lose at least 15 pounds by early October.

I ate mostly clean for months. Mid-April a friend came to visit and I always seemed to find a reason to not eat well.

I ate mostly clean last week, but I was camping so I over did it on yummy prepossessed pork . . . Salami and a big piece of breakfast sausage. However, I have been eating clean since Sunday dinner. I do feel much better.

I did have a Noah's bagel with low-fat veggie cream cheese in a staff meeting and a homemade chocolate cookie. They were tasty at the time, but I did get a tummy ache.

I am tired from lack of sleep, but my body feels better.

I have been eating clean for about 3 weeks...I cannot believe the side benefits of eating clean!!
1) 20 lbs GONE (and never to return!)

2) A lump in my neck is completely gone.

3) A skin tag I had on the other side of my neck for 1 1/2 years fell off! (Gross, but true!)

4) My hair has stopped coming out in the shower. I always blamed it on the crappy water in our well, not how I eat!!

5) More energy to be ALIVE!

My only side effect is I have had more headaches than I have ever had in my life. Just trying to roll with that, hoping it's just the toxins coming out! :)

IT*SNEVER2LATE--very scary about the fatty liver & your chronic fatique/fibro. Getting on the clean diet should be so helpful for all of these things! Hang in there~ emoticon

This is my Baseline-
Diabetes- Blood sugar levels within normal limits, but highly erratic.

Fatty Liver Disease- My liver is TOXIC. Last week,my liver was substantially enlarged and painful. Liver enzymes UP. That's why I joined...to detoxify my liver. EATING CLEAN will help me cleanse my liver so it can repair itself. This is a lifesyle change-not a detox program.

The toxins are trying to get out thru my skin. I'm having flare-ups of roseacea and psoriasis (gross!)

I am SO tired and I hurt all over. I have been diagnosed with Chr.Fatigue Synd. and fibromyalgia.

I'll check back in a month. Thinking positive thoughts!

I've been eating clean for 3 months.

Before: gained a huge amount of weight in a short amt of time, swelling in abdomen, hair loss, fatigue, stomach problems -- months and months of testing and doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong

After: after eating clean for 3 months (I also cut out most forms of bread and tomatoes), I've lost 28 pounds - 2 clothing sizes, reduced the swelling in my stomach area, have energy, and feel good! My daily stomach ache is gone. And I have the energy and desire to work out several times a week.

It's been about a month for me.. not *totally* clean, but about 90-95% clean. I experienced some dizziness during the first couple of weeks, and felt very "empty". I'm used to it now, and cannot stand eating anything too sugary or fried. I have been pretty much the most unhealthiest eater ever my entire life, so I can just imagine what withdrawls my body was going through. I have been having headaches as well, I didn't think to attribute them to my new diet.

I'm on day 18 and today I had the WORST cravings, everything from ice cold BEER! to milk shakes to a big thick steak. I guzzled my water and ate my Tosca Reno protein bar (from her recipe) and moved my body more than usual, doing extra cleaning and running around with the kids. I was almost laughing like What? am I actually craving a Beer right now?

It doesn't help that I cut the processed, refined foods, sugar, red meat, booze, and the such all on the same day.

Ok I just got my book this week and have begun the Clean Eating lifestyle change. I read the book and it is so informational and gives a clear explaination of what food does to your body and why we all need to eat clean. I am motivated. I started SP on 12/29/08 and have lost 8 pounds altogether. Today is the 5 th day "eating clean" and I do feel great! more energy actually.

Indygirl, I get those symptoms (headaches espcially) when I'm coming off the caffeine. If you have stopped drinking coffee, tea or soft drinks that may explain the symptoms. I suppose coming off of processed foods like refined sugar could give you some of those too. Stick with it, you should be feeling better soon!

CONGRATS to everyone here is doing such a great job!

I have been on Spark for between 4-5 months and I figured a lot out about my body's needs. I started out on a high calorie diet and lost weight quickly. Then I thought something must be wrong because my calories were much higher than others. So for the last 3 months I cut down. But I gained all my weight back.

Recently I upped my calories again and POOF! Weight is coming off again! I guess I work out enough to warrant eating 2000 calories. emoticon But it was a hard lesson to learn because everything you read tells you to eat less. I am very active and I find that eating a lot of healthy fat and high calories is GOOD FOR ME!

I am also the new leader of the Nourishing Traditions team which specializes in this kind of eating. Stop by any time!
