Your Welcome... I will keep an eye open and if I see something I will post it and alert you.
If you could do the same for me, I'd appreciate it. Always learning and growing here... love me a good abstract based on hardcore data!

Regarding the hype, my thoughts there is that its publish or perish... people are always looking for a good story.
Additionally... humans are similar, not exactly alike... drugs and foods run a spectrum dependent on how they are metabolized... lifestyle, what stage of life a person's in hormonally, gender and genetic differences all have an effect. I suspect Monk that I'm not telling you anything you don't know here, though...

: )

Germane to caffeine,I have read some stuff about individual genetic variant in caffeine metabolism. Apparently some metabolize it slower than others, with varying systemic effect. But before I embarrass myself by misquoting half forgotten information, let me find an abstract for you that deals with that:

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3838675 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3838675

Here's one that less specific but gets the point across in everyday American:

I've found that the more we learn, the more we know what we don't know and what we don't know is huge.
LOL

Have a fun day!

Thank you for checking into this. The rat study was all I could find as well and I just didn't find the results to really be compelling for humans. It's kind of disappointing that the caffeine/meds issue has been hyped to the extent it has in some online and offline publications.

hey Monkey!

The only study I could find was on newborn rats!
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6413944

IMO this is may be of those things that are anecdotal, not scientifically tested and proven.

I drink brewed tea all day and coffee in the morning, their caffeine doesn't seem to bother me... but then I take my meds before I go to sleep every nite.

If you find something, I'd love to see it!
Thanks for raising the question.

I've read that caffeine cuts the absorption of thyroid meds, but I would really like to see the results of a study that's been done on this issue. I search for this information and keep coming up with articles by Mary Shomon, which aren't linking to anything conclusive from a good source. Does anyone have a link to medical study results?
