Trees--

I just read an article summarizing research about the effect of adding T3 (Cytomel) to T4 therapy for those experiencing depression. I've been meaning to post it to the forum.

My computer crashed, so I lost that tab. I'll have to go through my history or duplicate my search.

I remember thinking that for those whose docs won't prescribe cytomel, if they see a psychiatrist maybe the psychiatrist would consider it based on these articles. The doc reviewing the research felt the T3 made a difference in improving mood.

You might consider ordering Erfa from a Canadian pharmacy. Apparently its quite similiar to the old Armour.

I know I really miss taking it. I hate the depression and hair loss the syntrhoid is causing. I am praying daily the armor comes back soon!

TREESA57, I think that's why people liked the Armour is because they got the T3 with it.

Thanks Julie8464 - I am hoping that all my hours in the gym and in the kitchen do pay off and instead of gaining. I'll keep this forum posted. Thanks for your help.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I'm not getting big dramatic losses but half to a pound a week. The best part of that is I don't restrict myself like I did before, if I want wine I have a glass. I still don't do junk/processed foods and very little red meat. Just don't think it is going to be a miracle weightloss pill, it's not but it will let your hard work payoff.

The Cytomel also helped me mentally too. I felt so down and depressed and that's all gone. I think since I feel better I tend to stay more active and make it to the gym. For me this was bigger benefit of the drug.

Let us know how it works for you.

Does the cytomel help with the depression as well as the tiredness? I was never depressed on armor like I am on synthroid. I just hate this synthroid but in my area none of the pharmacies can get the armour! If adding the cytomel will help I am willing to go back to the dr and ask for it!

Julie8464 - Did you notice (over time) that it became easier for you to lose weight? This is the most frustrating (as I am sure it is for alot of people) since I exericse and lift weights 6 days a week, eat clean meals, weigh and measure all my portions, watch my carbs, don't eat processed junk, haven't had a drink or even anything sugary since Thanksgiving (and that was one super light beer and a sliver of my mom's homemade pecan pie)

Cytomel is the hormone replacement for T3 (the "other" thyroid hormone).

From what I have heard and read, if you are still having hypothyroid symptoms (fatigue, can't lose weight even though you exercise and eat right, etc.) may help you even though you are on a T4 med (such as Synthroid, etc.)- at least this is what I am hoping.

I felt a change the first day I took it.

I am just curious (and I know everyone is different) but I was just prescribed Cytomel (not sure of the dose yet as I just heard back from his nurse) but how long after starting cytomel did you start to feel a change - as in less fatigue, etc.
