Fiesty, I checked the link from my computer and road runner redirected the addy for me too, to a bunch of ads! Sorry about that, I'll fix my link on the original post.

Grrr... roadrunner! No wonder the coyote was always wanting to ring his neck!

In New York, you can make sure you're getting the proprietary brand, not generic, by asking the doc to write DAW (dispense as written) on the prescription. Of course, then you'll pay the brandname price, not the generic price. ("It's always sumpin'", as Gilda Radner used to say.)

Thats brilliant, had no idea you could do that!

Purr!
Thanks for contributing, makes me happy I started the thread. If anyone else has any other medical money saving tips, just add em here! I'd like to add Planned Parenthood to the list of economical alternatives.

Patriciaak!
Sigh. Yes...of course you are correct... but which headline would get the most giggles, "hey cheapo..." or "show your good stewardship"?

Gotta have fun sometimes, particularly when you've chosen the name...

Anytime you feel you can't afford your meds please check into the manufacturer's patient assitance program. Just google the mfg and the words patient assistance. I know Forest does armour and thyrolar. I'm sure the others have programs also. It's a bit of paperwork but better than spending $ you don't have!

There's also websites that help like needymeds.com or rxassist.org.

I love the coupons!!!!! I'm on 50 right now, but I'm seeing a new doctor soon and am going to look into Armour :) .

I called Wal-Mart and they wanted $19.63 for a month's worth of pills and then I called Costco and they quoted me about $3.00 cheaper. Now, before you say "but pixi.. I don't have a membership to Costco" listen up..YOU DON'T NEED ONE TO USE THE PHARMACY!! It is illegal for them to deny you services. Call Costco (if you have one in the area) and bring in the coupon and that's a $6.00 difference in cost. I don't know about all of you, but my budget is extremely tiiiiiight. If you don't have a Costco then Wal-mart is the way to go. :D

For those of you on Synth, here's some help:
www.synthroid.com/PatientResources/S
yn
throidCoupon.cfm?CFID=310875&CFTOKENR>=76399780

Last refill, I ended up getting my pills in 100's dosage and paid out of pocket. The advantage of this is:

1. cheaper
2. dye free
3. Expiration date printed on sealed package.
4. Meds can be stored under ideal circumstances
5. Longer time before you run out

My regiment was alternating doses, 50 one day, 75 the next, cuz they don't make a 60 sumpin pill, which is what I need. My concern was that 25 daily swing was excessive, being as my a 25 dosage diff is a considerable percentage shift when the dosage is that low. On my 50 days I didn't have as much energy.

The solution was to get 125's from the good Doc,( I have a NICE doctor!) and split out a 30 day supply so that I am on 62.5, everyday.

Since I am splitting the 125 pills, I have enough meds for 200 days. Doc also gave me a refill of the 100, so that I wouldn't have to come back for a year. Mabbe so that he doesn't have to put up with my whining for 400 days? Ya, that's what I thought too!

: )

Now I store my splits in a small pill container, in a drawer of my nitestand, away from light. Put the rest back in the depths of my closet, away from heat and light in their original container.

Hope this is helpful.
Cutting expenses usually puts a smile on my face.
Incidentally Walmart was the cheapest place I could find to buy Synth. They WILL try to give you their $4 generic though, so CHECK YOUR MEDS before you leave the store. They did it to me BOTH times I went for refills.
