I am beginning to make my own menus by varying the ones I liked - changing the seasoning or switching chicken and fish.

I keep the book by my computer because I use it a lot to make my menu plans. I have tried a few recipes and of course I like some more than others, but I have some keepers, that are easy, fast and delicious.

I am finishing up with week 4 (or week 8) I have done the cycle twice now and I am going to start it over again. My body and my mind is really responding to this program. It has been a very positive experience. I went to the farmer's market today and was so excited to have homegrown fruits and veggies!!

I love this program! I've followed loosely because I've been sparking for 2 years, but I learned a lot and tried quite a few new recipes by re-visiting the beginning!

Got myself back in check, thank the Lord! Have been eating well for the last 2 days and getting my strength and walking in. However, I won't be on again for a few days. Several meetings at the church, then Thursday night heading out of time for Family Day at my son's summer internship job. Looking forward to seeing him, but will have to be really careful about eating. Will be staying in other people's homes for a couple days, so will have to eat what's offered but will work hard at moderation. This is what the teaching is all about, right? Have a great rest of your week, Everyone! emoticon

Hi all,

I have not been good following the Challenge. Going to have to skip this time and try next time around.

Too much personal stuff going on, but I am making good food choices and exercising.

It's been a really crazy ride this past week or more. Graduation party, planning, shopping, cleaning, cooking and decorating. I didn't make wise choices when it came to my eating plan. The rain and the heat prevented me from continuing the excercise I am used to. I had skipped meals, over ate in many situations because I was too hungry. Sheeze! I am so glad the party's over! HA! I am ready to get back on track. I am excited to dig out my TSS book and back to cooking and concentrating on me again. The most important thing I have learned through TSS... It's not always about 'me'...however, if I want to help 'me'...I MUST make it 'all about me'- because no one else will (or can) Keep up the great work SP! Thanks!!

Sometimes you just have to give in to a craving, but at least you were using some control. You thought about it, measured it and enjoyed it. To me, making good choices most of the time allows for the occasional treat.

Today wasn't so good for me! I overate and exceeded my calories by almost 25%. BUT- there's always that isn't there - before I ate the chips at dinner I thought about it and decided I was craving them so badly that eating them tonight was better than eating half a bag tomorrow if my defenses felt even lower. So I got out the scale and measured them and ate them. Tomorrow I will get back on track with following the meals in the book more closely to help me regain my momentum. Have a great night of rest and a blessed tomorrow, my SparkFriends:)

I'm with you Elizabeth. I need to reread the book and do weeks 1 and 2 again. It isn't that it's difficult it's that rather than making this part of my life I let my current life habits get in my way.

On to start again. today is a NEW day.

Hello! Continuing to stick with the program. I was so excited when I got home from work tonight because sitting on the George foreman were 4 inside out burgers ready to cook and herb fries ready to pop in the oven...and I didn't do it!! I actually got to do some swimming, take a shower and relax. I love this program, but it does take a lot of my time---well worth it time, otherwise I wouldn't have stuck with it for 7 weeks so far!

I am glad to hear that other people are sticking with it and earning that "healthy" reward as a result!!! Keep it up!

Took a chance with creating new menus from the recipes. Have done through Sunday and they all came out okay for calories and nutrition. I did have to change one snack to lower the calories. I can do this.

Yes Absolutely! Even though I am only down 3 pounds, I can see the difference the workouts have made. I love the recipes I have tried and am looking forward to try more from the book and the Spark cookbook! I have found that I like planning out my meals and exercise sessions and the support and ideas from others here has really helped.

I made the Lean Philly Cheesesteak for dinner & it was delish!!! Hubby loved it! I used low sodium roast beef from the deli (Boar's Head) & low sodium provolone cheese. I never would've believed that I could saute mushrooms & onions w/out olive oil! It turned out fabulous! Hubby had his in a tortilla wrap & I had mine in an oatbran pita...yum! yum! Definitely a keeper recipe! I'm already thinking of other meat/cheese combos that I can make...& perhaps saute some pepper & onions!

I've been on target today...I did my body sculpting class & then spin class this morning...ate a healthy breakfast & lunch & dinner. I'm maxed out on my calories for the day, but feel good about the choices I've made! Drank all my water & then some! It's been a very good day!

I hope everyone is doing well! Congrats all round, my Spark peers! We ROCK!!!

Congrats, Melodyannette! I am so impressed with your 23 lb loss! Way to go! I lost 4 lbs in
the last 2 weeks and am going to continue on with Sparking! The recipes are very good, and the plan is not at all difficult to follow, even for a snacker like me! Sometimes I eat part of a meal, like breakfast, and save part for later, like eat cantaloupe for a snack. So I don't even miss snacking because it's built in. Still getting the same calorie amounts and lost 4 pounds!
I love this lifestyle of eating and exercising!

Get a move on!

Great job Betzy!!! WooHoo!!! We're doing it!!!

I had my annual check up yesterday & received positive feedback from the doctor on how I'm progressing! HgA1C was 5.4! All my lab values were good & my weight was down 20 lbs in 9 months, according to his records! BP was great! So, I was very pleased! My hard work is paying off, big!!!

And I want to share a great recipe I found on SparkPeople that I made yesterday. It's Shrimp Pasta submitted by PSYCHOFREAK. I made it exactly as is instructed, except I added sun dried tomatoes & a bit more garlic for my taste. It was delish! Only problem I had was maintaining portion control because it tasted sooooooooo good!

I tracked & measured & weighed my intake yesterday. I did go over on carbs & fats yesterday because I made a conscious decision to enJOY a slow churned mini cup of mint chocolate ice cream & NOT feel guilty about it! Now, it's to the gym this morning for a body sculpting class & then spin class! (I did spin yesterday too, by the way...right after my doctor's appointment)!

EnJOY the day, my fellow Sparkers! Make it a good & healthy one!!!

I'm in! Only lost 1 pound this week, but since it was a holiday weekend with the guys home I feel like I did well. I am convinced that staying on this team for a while longer I will get into the habit of doing strength training and cardio like I should as well s being careful about my meal planning. Thanks for all the help, Sparkfriends! emoticon

Great start to week 3, down 5 pounds in 2 weeks. Loving being more active. Planned the menu for this week, using recipes from the last 2 weeks, enjoyed the inside-out burgers and oven fries tonight.

Need to keep focused, my kids are home for the next month, so need to stay focused on making good food choices.

I'm loving this. I just started week 3 for me. I previously did the spark challenge and lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks. I'm actually find that the Spark Solution is more than enough food for me and I love the work outs.
Let's see how far we can go!!! emoticon

I think I can. I know I can. I will.

I don't lose as fast now. But happy to report a loss of 2 lbs this week. Surprised as this hasn't been the norm for me. I am certainly motivated and have mentioned it several times to other. I think The Spark Solution is terrific, especially coupled with the Spark Coach.
As Chris says, Spark Cheers all.

I'm still going on too, weight loss has slowed a little, down to more like a lb a week, but I may need to change exercise etc.

I am still here too. Last week was a bit of a struggle, but I am planning out my weekly menu today to stay on track this coming week.

Still going strong. I need to work on strength exercises. I've been hesitant as had a heart attack in late March. However, I will give it a try and if it feels right will do it.

I've been using the book for almost 6 weeks now. I haven't been losing weight, the problem, however, was the not the book. I was eating to few calories for my weight so binging was a nightly occurrence. After I finally figured out how to change my weight and goals, SP bumped me up almost 300 cals. Now I'm finding myself happier through out the day, better able to think and focus, and much better able to deal with my 4 yo. I'm really positive that I'm going to start losing now. I'm going back and reviewing the book and piecing together what I need.

Good Luck in your Journey

I finally got around to making the Panko Breaded Fish with Tomato Salad and boy, was that good! I am really enjoying the recipes in this book. And losing almost the full 10 pounds I was aiming for is a nice side affect.

I am still going strong too. I still haven't gotten through all the recipes, so it looks like I will continue for another couple of weeks. I am down to about a pound and a half from my goal, so this last round should do it. Then I will try adding in the second snack to maintain that weight.

I am in week 4 right now and am still going strong, tracking, eating well, working out, and just plain feeling better. I have lost 8.8 pounds so far, my goal now is another 14 by the end of July. I am following the Sparkpeople 28 day bootcamp now, but because I fee some days are too easy I throw in more cardio and the excersice from the book. I know I will not be perfect with eating and working out everyday but this book has given me the tools to stay and get back on track!

Keep up the good work

PS... I could eat the Buffalo chicken casserol everyday!

Had the English muffin with cream cheese and fruit.

Is it just me or are they getting better at making tofu taste like the real foods. I remember a few years ago trying the soy yogurt and it was so tart it wasn't edible. Now i like the yogurt, cream cheese and sour cream...they all taste really good.

Brightest Blessings!

Today's breakfast was Huevos Rancheros. Wow, the flavors in this one. See my blog for a picture.

Also today was a weigh in day for me ... back down to 144, which is 7.5 pounds down since starting Spark Solution. (I had a little bobble in there). This is just 2 pounds from my 50 pound first goal. I know I am going to get there really soon now!

Started week 4 and off to a great start so far! This program is fantastic and I have never been hungry. In fact I have had to force myself to eat everything that I am supposed to eat some days. I love the exercises as well. This is a lifestyle that I can handle. emoticon

YES!! After a week with a houseful of relatives, we are off for a week and then we are both going to do Weeks 1 and 2 again. We liked a great deal of the recipes. And then in the
weeks after we will tweak a little more.

I like the breakfast cookies, the Bacon Swiss Scramble and the pan fried chicken. Because I cook for one, I haven't gotten around to all the recipes either. I am looking forward to trying out some more in this coming week.
