I am supposed to be here today and tomorrow. I messed up, though. I ate steamed patty pan squash and had beans for my protein. Those are phase 3 foods but I didn't realize it until after. I'm debating whether I should go back to phase 1 or just eat correctly for lunch, dinner and snacks?

Tonight a huge salad. Next week I will have eggplant on hand so I can make an eggplant lasagna.

I know its not exactly like dressing but if you get the Balsamic Vinegar spray it makes the salad a little more enjoyable!

I love my salad! But just quit eating it on Ph 2 because it's so blah without any dressing. Haven't found a Ph2 one that I like. So I started eating raw veggies and I find that I am starting to enjoy them just as much! Also have a new love affair with lemons.... LOL! I put the juice on just about everything Phase 2.

Just goes to show that our bodies will get used to anything if we stick with it long enough. So glad I found this healthy diet.

I feel good today, may extend phase 2 through at least breakfast tomorrow, possibly lunch too. The food on phase 2 is sort of like blah, yeah...whatever. Last week I ended up just eating plain romaine lettuce leaves at one meal (w/protein), because it's been so disappointing to have a nice looking salad with no dressing. I just got the recipe book for this plan from the library, and I know there's an all-phase dressing, just haven't found it / tried it yet. For lunch veggies, I've had some luck with bringing cold cooked leftover vegetables and eating them without reheating. Things like asparagus, where I wouldn't eat it raw, taste pretty okay the next day - I did this with cauliflower one day too, tasted better cooked and cold than it does raw to me.

I extended phase 2 even though I hate it for 3 days. It's torture but your right it does feel more like a "diet" that the other phases. The hardest meal is breakfast, and I eat a lot of steak!!

Week 2, phase 2 - this is the part that actually feels like a diet, but I'm fine with that. I think I had too much fruit yesterday, so sort of looking forward to balancing that out today and tomorrow.

I'm with you NMWERNER! You know my biggest complaint? I have the most beautiful eggs from my neighbor's true free-range hens and I have to throw away those lovely orange yolks! LOL! What a problem huh? I give them to my dogs and that helps a little.

I dread phase 2 every week. I am week 4 and tomorrow is phase 2 and I am already thinking about WHAT TO EAT!!!!! Breakfast is the worst because I hate the egg whites. I can't find nitrate free turkey bacon without it having 1gram of sugar. I basically live on steak, chicken breast and tuna. I tend to get hungry in this phase too because you are so limited. It's hard to eat so many veggies. Done complaining!!!!!

I don't think you are alone on dreading Phase 2. It's really all about meat and veggies. I use broth or water to saute everything and just add whatever spices you like. There are some great ideas/recipes out on Pinterest. But beware..... double check the recipe ingredients first. People put some stuff out there that is far from what's allowed.

Brkfast: I make out best with the egg whites in muffin tins. Haley has a few recipes. Add lots of veggies if you can.
Lunch: Turkey rollup w/mustard, kale & SF pickle and/or cucumbers
Dinner: Meat and veggie or salad

I found Sara Lee Oven Roasted Turkey in the deli section (with bacon, hot dogs, etc.) that has no nitrates. Here are the ingredients from their website:

0g Trans Fat per serving, Low Saturated Fat, Made with Whole Turkey Breast, Minimally Processed, No Added Hormones*, No Artificial Colors, No Artificial Flavor, No By-Products, No MSG, No Nitrates or Nitrites added

Good luck! I'm on the 2nd week also and Ph2 is a little easier. One thing for sure..... I'm not hungry!

This is my first day of week 2 phase 2 and last week I really did not enjoy this phase... hopefully with some changes these two days I will make it through without dreading every meal :) My problem is that I can't find meats without nitrates, and ordering them off the internet isn't really on option for me, so I basically have eggs or chicken for every meal including snacks and there is only so many different ways to make chicken :( I am throwing in a steak tonight for dinner and lots of mushrooms so that should help break it up! I am down 5.5 pounds and motivated to make it through!

Starting my first Phase 2..... wish me luck!

Had turkey bacon crumbles, chicken sausage (Homemade) and peppers/onions. I cooked the bacon first which left a nice coating of yum-yums as Emeril calls it! Then added chicken broth & some garlic to replace the oil. Made a nice au jus.

Cycle 2 Week 1 Phase 2 Days 1 & 2

I always dread this phase, although I seem to lose the best on it.

I made the pepperoncini pork roast for these 2 days of dinners. It was really good.

Lunch is always tuna and salad greens (mixed greens, spinach, kale, and/or romaine)

Breakfast was egg whites scrambled with onions peppers and mushrooms.

Week 2 Phase 2 Days 1 & 2

This phase is my least favorite phase. I haven't weighed myself in a couple of days because we had company.

1) I had the same breakfast and lunch as you did Renee'. Supper is the cinnamon mustard chicken.

2) Same breakfast and lunch as today. Dinner will be the chicken and vegetables soup.

Week 3 Phase 2 Days 1 & 2

1) definitely not my favorite phase, although my daughter likes it. she's not an oatmeal fan like am, although she does miss the fruit. It's a meat kinda day! eggs for breakfast (whites scrambled with onions, peppers, mushrooms in veggie broth) tuna on greens for lunch, hamburger patty and greens for dinner.

2) planned is same breakfast as yesterday... same lunch, but chicken for dinner.

Week 2 Phase 2 Day 1

I did very well the past two days, yet I'm up a bit... It must be water retention, I've not eaten enough to gain FAT... I really hate fluctuations.

So.. protein phase. Today I had egg whites and spinach cooked in veggie broth, organic, of course, lunch is chicken and mixed greens, dinner will be the stuffed mushrooms recipe in her book, and snacks are chicken and turkey jerky... I thought I did so great finding the jerky, No nitrates, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients, sliced from solid turkey breast meat, minimally processed... but it's got SOY SAUCE and CORN SYRUP in it! Grrr... it didn't mention that on the website. :/ oh well, I shall eat very little of it and hope for the best.

Day 2
I skipped the turkey jerky today, snacks today are 1/2 of a beef patty each time.
back down on the scales.

I hate fluctuations.

Thanks. I have already lost quite a bit since Monday... my starting weight was 223 that day. I'm already 9.5 lbs down from that. Water weight, I know... still, the scale number is improving nonetheless.

I also ordered some stuff online... Week 2 will hopefully be a bit easier.

while phase one went pretty good, phase 2 is already proving difficult. unable to find stuff I was wanting this weekend left me slim pickin's for phase 2. I had an egg white scrambled in veggie broth with onions & mushrooms for breakfast, skipped snack... didn't have one nor did I have a chance to eat it if I did. court was today and it started about 8:30 and I just got out. I'm eating lunch now: spinach and tuna. will probably have boiled egg whites with sea salt for snack when I get home after work... and I do have the Southwestern Beef and Cabbage Stew in the crock pot for dinners.

I'm almost wanting to give up already because eating should not be so hard or such a big deal... but I promised myself I'd go the full 28 days. I'm hoping that as I learn the diet it gets easier. I used to do Atkins and it was hard at first, but now I'm a "pro" LOL!

Hi,

This is my 1st week back on TFMD in 3 months and my 1st Phase 2 for this 28 day cycle.

The 3 cycles I did last year, Phase 2 was the toughest for me also. This time I'm hoping it will be better. I just bought Haylie's cookbook yesterday so I think the recipes will help.

I'm down 1.8 lbs form Phase 1 the 10th & 11th and if I remember right I lost good in Phase 2 before so I'm looking forward to these 2 days this week.

Phase 2 is always tough but here I am again, week 3, day 1 of phase 2. I added an additional egg white to my omelet this morning and it seemed to help (I have chickens and one is a bantam that lays small eggs so I used one of hers with 3 of the "big girl" eggs).

Phase 2 is the only phase I needed to adjust by adding slightly more protein and I still lost weight. I think my body needed more protein so I gave in to it and I feel a bit better. It may not be a one size fits all diet but I am making it work.

We can do this!

Phase 2 was really hard for me. I don't eat much meat and it was a real struggle. I'm hoping to have more of a handle on it this week. Last week almost made me give up. Hope your day 2 was better!

I too completed phase 1 and lost nothing, so I am looking forward to moving into the next two phases. I have completed multiple low carb diets in the past, so phase 2 should feel fairly natural to me.

Hi, I'm here! I made it through Phase I and didn't gain weight- my fear because of all the food and carbs! Decaffeinating wasn't tooooo bad :-) just a little tired yesterday. This Phase should be easier for me, because I am used to low carb dieting - like for the last 20 years!
