I remember signing up for 4 shows in the spring of 2009 because they announced the spring tour without any mention that there would be a summer tour, and none of the venues were even close to Cincinnati. I was worried they would stop touring after LeRoi's death and though I better get some before it was too late. At some point later they announced the summer tour, and although I was happy and saw 3 more shows nearby (indy and cincy), I was overextended to try to go to the Gorge for the first time like I had hoped. Did that the next year in 2010---then I was happy I did, because they took the big break in 2011 and I was not sure how that would turn out.

This song is a favorite of my 16 yr old daughter Celeste, a relatively newcomer in the realms of Dave Matthews Band fanatics. She liked it from the first time she heard it---I had downloaded it in anticipation of hearing it in Charlottesville VA at the 4/17/09-4/18/09 weekend at John Paul Jones arena on the University of Virginia campus on the spring tour. The crew I traveled in a motor home and camped with knew all the words by the concert. (Celeste did not go, she was only 12 then.) We were also introduced to Why I Am and Spaceman (a personal favorite of mine) at those concerts and the kickinest first time I ever heard Recently --now on the new Warehouse 10 release this yr.

I thought the video that went with it was really out there, garish-- as are most of his videos---a take off on the original music video "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams in the late 60s or of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer". It didn't really fit in my opinion but maybe someone could make a case for that. Obviously Dave likes that song as he covered it that in 2008.

I am looking forward to sharing the 2013 season with my daughter--my new found DMB fanatic---my sons like DMB but do not appreciate them quite as much as Celeste, and that has only been in the past year or so. Her friends watch her in amazement as they listen to Pink, Kesha, LMFAO, etc. She even got an DMB iphone cover. First show Blossom Music Center 6/1/13---- 9 days from today!!!!

I have seen this song live 9 times in the last 3 yrs.

I will post one song from the DMB catalog each day and I would like to hear what you all think about it. Tell me if you like it. Rate it. Have you heard it live? Would you like to hear it live? Is it good live?

Just any thoughts that, that particular song brings to your mind.

Thursday, May 23rd is "Funny The Way It Is" Another song that reminds me of summer. Currently listening to the studio version as I type this.

"Funny The Way It Is" Facts
-Song Debut was in Madison Square Garden New York,New York on April 14, 2009.
-Album: "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King"
-Band has played it fully 188 times including 1 time in 2013 & 25 times in 2012.
-It is #49 most played song and #1 off of "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King"
-Was the first release off of "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King"

I have personally seen it 6 times live in 15 shows. Saw it 2009 x 2 (Indianapolis), 2010 (Indianapolis), 2010 (Louisville), 2011 (Chicago), 2012 (Indianapolis)

Favorite part of the song...

Another song where Dave will make you think. Along the lines of "Dancing Nancies"

"The way your mouth feels
In your lovers kiss
Like a pretty bird on a breeze
Or water to a fish"

Would like to hear what you all think?

"Oh hold tight
cuz the road can be a crazy ride
And I know that we're going to be alright
Because you are here with me"
