Hello and welcome!!

I know that taking that first step towards change is not always easy. Congratulations on making an effort and putting your thoughts into action. Even though you are quite comical, I do understand that your body may not have been comfortable as you began to walk; however, your body will soon get into the swing of things and you'll start to experience even greater feelings of joy and accomplishment!

I really hope to see big changes for you also. I have been depressed at some point in time, and stuck in others. I am beginning to see a light at the end of a painful tunnel and the efforts that I've made to improve myself have been completely worth it! I hope to see this same joy and improvement for you, and it WILL happen! Just never give up, even if you get down sometimes!

It's so great to "meet" you and I hope that you keep in touch. Let us know how the next walk goes!!

Hello everyone....I'm having a great day today. I'm working toward preparing myself for my first 5K at age 60. I have fibromyalgia and so up till tihis year I have not been very active and depressed and not happy with myself most of the time. This year I joined SP to make big changes and get back to the person I was happiest being. Before marrying and having children I used to walk 10 - 20K every day without batting an eye. Now that I am older it seemed like something I wanted to get back into the routine of doing. From our house to the main highway is 5k so today because it was a nice enough day I decided to try, for the first time which I thought would be a different challenge, to walk to the highway and back to see how my body would react to the outside walking conditions. About 1/3 of the way I started feeling my baby toe on my left foot complaining it didn't have enough room and was rubbing the toe next to it. At about the second third of the walk my right hip mentioned it had a kink and once I noticed that the rest of the body wanted to tell me their woes also. It took me 40 min. to walk and the wind was a bit too cool for my comfort level but other than being a little discomforted it was an enjoyable experience. I definitely could see myself doing this again on a warmer day when there was no cool wind. This is just the first small step to finding the person I once was and loving myself again because I can do anything I put my mind to.

To me HEALTH means Energy. Stamina. Flexibilty. A relatively pain free body. Enjoying healthy food.

I've been likewise disappointed in some of my health choices lately, but today I got back on track with 20 minutes of exercise and 9 servings of veggies! Watched an inspirational body transformation video on YouTube, and that's got me recommitted. :) Let's do this!

It has bothered me that for the last 33 days, I haven't lost any weight. The exercise and eating have balanced each other (as far as weight loss goes). Pants aren't fitting any looser. It amazes me that I am only 20 lbs away from my weight goal, and yet I keep sabotaging myself by overeating.

I'm that person that eats when she's bored, when she's studying, for celebrations, etc. Well, it's finally hit me that I will always be this way until I realize that mental preparation and focus truly play a big part in this. I HAVE TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!! The weight won't just fall off if I don't add consistent healthy eating along with working out.

So for the next 27 days, I will remain focused for this challenge. And hopefully after this first set of 60 days, I will begin another 60 day challenge to teach myself healthy habits.

Long story short, transitioning into a healthy lifestyle is hard. We all have our habits. However, it is not impossible! And once we acquire these habits, NOTHING CAN STOP US!!
