I don't know if I have shared this on any of the threads here but I've shared it with my partners, but I joined one of Spark People's 5K training programs. They have several. I was a track runner in junior high and a little in high school but it wasn't something I ever kept up with. I've ALWAYS wanted to "be a runner" that's just been a burning desire in me for such a long time, but it was something I put off until I was thin. "Once I lose all the weight, then I can run. Once I lose the weight, then I can train for a race." Well, I realized that it's never to soon to train for something like that and the only one holding me back was me....I wanted to be a runner so I just decided to be one. I just completed my first week on the training program and you know what I learned about myself?
That I'm stronger than I realized
...I have more determination than I realized.
Because while the first day was a little tough, the second day of training I battled sore muscles and fatigue and wanted to quit half way through, but I kept going and finished the day. I realized that I can be a runner, I will be a runner and I don't have to be 140 pounds to do it...I can be anything I want.
All your life you are told the things you cannot do.
All your life they will say you’re not GOOD ENOUGH
or STRONG ENOUGH or TALENTED ENOUGH. They’ll say you’re the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or BE THIS or achieve this. They will tell you no, a THOUSAND times no... AND YOU WILL TELL THEM YES
