I have managed to stay away from Pringles potato chips since Aug. 18 - I am sure that is a new record for me. I can not eat just a few so it is best for me not to buy a can at all.
I will keep on saying to myself : I choose not to eat Pringles potato chips.

I can't believe the junk food my husband and I both brought home yesterday. We made the mistake of shopping before our lunch and while we were hungry. He bought Pringles chips - 3 cans - and thought he could ration them according to the serving on the label - NOT - he ate them all that afternoon and evening. I brought home a package of Cadbury Finger cookies. I too thought I could ration them according to the serving size - NOT - they're gone! And again - they are chocolate - the very thing I am trying not to have anymore!

I'm going to do this challenge again.
Pringles potato chips are NOT what I CHOOSE to eat this week.
CHOOSE to eat an apple with peanut butter on it instead of a can of Pringle potato chips.

This was such a successful challenge the first time around a few months ago that we are going give it another go

Our 7 day challenge is:

Give up just "one" junk food or high calorie / high sugar/ high fat food item.

Chips, soda, bagels, donuts, butter, sugar, cookies, whatever it may be. If you feel it does not fit into a healthy diet or you feel guilty when you have, give it up for just one week emoticon.

If we can live without it for one week then we can live without every week!!!

This sounds like a good one. I get such a craving for salt sometimes and it is a real challenge for me to stay away from potato chips. I can do it for 7 days though if I don't buy any because no one else in my household eats potato chips.

Today was my Birthday and my daughter bought me a very fattening cake from Dillon's. It was a marble layered cake with Chocolate filling in between the layers. It also had whipping cream, Cookies and very large strawberries as decoration on the cake. I ate a thin piece and gave my 2 son's and grandson big pieces so not much left. My son made enchiladas and cheesecake. I did eat a big piece and I am still hungry so will go get some veggies.

I lost my mojo - where did it go?

Friday and Saturday at work was awful. I ate 2 bags of chips and a Milky Way and Saturday I ate a Milky Way. Also Saturday hurt my heel and was not able to walk very well. I did have to go outside a couple of times to do things in the rooms to get them ready for guests. My foot hurt so bad. I was never so glad to go home. My heel still hurts really bad. I have an appointment to exercise tomorrow at the doctors office so I will have them look at my heel and then find exercises that I can do to get my cardio and strength training.

At work is the hardest for me also Marilyn & CANDOIT54.....high stress everyday....now that the nicer weather is here I try to get out of the office during the day.....it truly does help

Today is a new day. All the candy is removed from the house so a big temptation is gone.
And I have removed all sweets and replaced them with oranges, bananas and pears. Oranges are so sweet they often satisfy the craving for sweets.

My new challenge is to only eat chocolate when part of a healthy food such as a protein bar also to cut out potato chips unless I make them. If I made them they would be baked without sodium. I would use light olive oil to keep them from sticking and help them brown evenly and a salt substitute (potassium) and garlic or onion powder for seasoning or Mrs Dash.

I made it a week with no chocolate. My mother made a dessert with chocolate and I resisted even trying a bite. No chocolate at work last night either. I missed my chocolate.
I plan to cut out the bad chocolate but when chocolate is part of a healthy food then I will give myself permission to eat it. Example : Marathon Protein Bars by Snickers which are very high in protein and fiber. I eat these for breakfast.

Sorry I've been out of touch. I've had so much homework this last week and a positively crazy schedule. I'm hoping this week will be a little better and I can stay caught up a little more. I made it through the week with no potato chips. I did break down and buy a snack size bag of TGI Fridays Cheddar & Bacon Potato Skins, but I didn't eat them yet. I have a feeling they will be in my tummy sometime this week. On a good note, I made my goal of breaking 300 pounds this weekend when I weighed in at 299.5 yesterday morning. I'm officially in two-terville!!!!

Whew. I got hrough this whole week without eating any cookies. Now if I can continue on with that habit and add a new one this week. So I am going to try another week without cookies and cut out the squares as well. That will be two big temptations for me but I am learning to eat healthier so that means cutting down on carbs.

Well, I've stayed off the sweets since last Monday, though some days it really WAS a challenge. Today hasn't been too bad so far. Healthy foods, and not really craving the sweets too much. Yesterday I was craving them all day long, but I have to admit I feel better and more alert without that sugar

Day 3 I was going to buy Marathon Protein bars for breakfast because they have a lot of fiber and protein but only have ones with chocolate so did not buy them. After this week is over I will go back to eating them but they will be the only chocolate I eat. No more candy bars for me.
Day 5 Had to work 3p-11p at motel and it was very boring until the last hour when we got busy checking in people to rooms. I had a really hard time ignoring the chocolate only inches from me. I had to turn my back to them and find other things to occupy my mind and hands.
Sunday is Easter so that will be the biggest challenge. I am going to my baby sister's house for dinner and an Easter Egg Hunt. Then from 5pm -10 pm I have to work at motel again. Major temptations all day.

Tomorrow will start my week #1. March 26th 1st day.

Day 1 Tuesday. No chocolate today. Yeah me!
Day 2 Wednesday No chocolate today. Really wanted the candy bar but did not get one.
Day 3 Thursday No chocolate. Went to Wal - Mart and Easter candy everywhere.
Day 4 Friday No chocolate. Had to buy stuff for Easter but did not buy any chocolate.
Day 5 Saturday No chocolate. Boy was it hard today.
Day 6 Sunday Easter No chocolate. I gave candy away and resisted the chocolate desserts.
Day 7 Monday No chocolate. Easier since not working today.

I try to keep sugar free fudge pops in the freezer or sugar free chocolate pudding in the cabinet for the really tough times.

Sometimes though even sugar free just make the cravings worse.

I worked Tuesday and Wednesday nights and even though the candy was there tempting me I resisted. I really miss my chocolate. I forgot that I had bought some chocolate pudding a few days before we started challenge. When I was getting my dinner ready to take to work I found it and almost took it. I remembered my promise so it is still here. I need to give it to my grandson so I don't eat it.

Day #2 went good......the days that I work are the hardest because of the stress and the habit of pushing it down with foods. But yesterday I went outside on break and walked for a bit and went out again for lunch. Getting out of the office even for a few minutes does help rejuvenate. emoticon

When I eat less sugar than usual I feel so much better. I had some chocolate easter eggs yesterday and today I am draggy, tired and irritable. I know sweets does this to me but I get such cravings and sometimes I give into those cravings. I'm always sorry later though.

This is one battle I have to keep fighting - to consume less sugars.

Actually Laura peanut butter is a healthy fat and consumed in moderation it is good for you. I have a tablespoon at least 4 times per week with my oatmeal. I use natural peanut butter. It was recommended to me by 2 registered dieticians. You might want to read some articles about it. Here is one from Live Strong:

Yesterday was hard for me. But I made it. Even though I did have peanut butter, I made a fruit cream cheese dip for my triscuits. And I only put the peanut butter on my celery. ONLY the requested amount, which was difficult for me. emoticon And we went to my son's New High School for Parent's Night and meeting the place for next year. We went to Waffle House and I made good choices, no waffles with maple syrup. I chose good choices for my dinner last night. Very proud of myself.

Almost slipped up today when I went to Tim Hortons. I was going to buy a cookie then I remembered I was on this challenge. I bypassed all the sweets and had a coffee with milk only. Day 2 conquered.

It can be really hard. I know, because I'm an emotional eater, but keeping track of what I eat each day has really helped. I recently found out I had some serious health issues, so that is a big motivator, just wish I would have started sooner. Hang in there - we can do it!!! I'm staying away from snacks high in sodium for the week.

I will give up chocolate. I am a chocoholic. I will not buy anything chocolate. Tuesday will be the hardest because I will be at work and the Snickers and Milky Ways are on display for all to see and buy. When I get bored I tend to buy 1 or more. Found out working Wednesday also. I am determined to stick to this goal. I haven't done so well on any of my other goals so I want this to be different and actually keep my streak of no chocolate going.

Our first weekly (7 days) challenge is:

Give up just "one" junk food or high calorie / high sugar/ high fat food item.

Chips, soda, bagels, donuts, butter, sugar, cookies, whatever it may be. If you feel it does not fit into a healthy diet or you feel guilty when you have, give it up for just one week emoticon .
