I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I really needed some encouragement. I have been working so hard and have gone from 188 to 181.5 over 2 1/2 weeks by working out and logging my calories. On thanksgiving I blew it. I cooked healthier recipes and then I just ate too much of them. I am set back 2 pounds! ugh. So I am ready to take this challenge and stick to it through the new year. emoticon

Keep up the great work everyone. Remember that Thanksgiving (well, not for us Canadians but either way) is coming up and this can be (and usually is) a time of indulgence for most. It is more important than ever that you stick to your goals and make it through this tough period relatively unscathed.

Hey guys - I'm in on this challenge! I left Sparkpeople after I graduated college (just b/c it wasn't as easy to keep it up), and have gained a ton of weight. But I'm ready to get it back off, and I know I can't do it w/out Sparkpeople - so I'm back!

Commitment: To eliminate all other options.

I'm in on this challenge! I need to get back on track. I use to do pretty good, but since i've moved back into my home town, my jogging has stopped, and my eating isn't the best.
I need to make myself a schedule and stick to it! I'm getting better with eating healthier. When I get groceries, most of the stuff in my cart is fruits and vegetables.
I want to lose a good 20lbs by the holidays. I think that's a realistic goal. And I know I can get the support I need from all of you :)

Hi :) I would like to join this challenge too if it's not too late. I normally post in my other teams that have monthly challenges but this is the only one I show for this month so I'm in :) I'm doing great with exercising but eating is a different story. I will start with going back to counting calories to back into my calorie range and then from there make other changes. I would like to be at 165 or less by thanksgiving and 160 by christmas if I follow this.

I hope it's not too late in the game for me to join! I'm struggling with exercise. For the longest time I was a cardio fiend, but I haven't stepped foot in a gym in the last four months. I seem to have lost all motivation, and probably out of boredom. My company has a small gym they let us use for free, but it has very limited equipment. It's hard for me to get outside for walks because it's usually dark by the time I get home. I am open for any suggestions how to spice up my exercise routine and get myself back on track. Best of luck to everyone with your challenges!

I'm on board! My goal is to loose 7 lbs by Jan. 1st! I'm going with slow and steady to help me be successful! My real challenge is working out... haven't been to the gym since at least August. I am working to get enough sleep so that I can schedule everything better, including the workouts! Starting with 10 minutes a day sounds good; the dog could use some walking.

This is something I think I can make happen. Sometimes what gets me is the late night snack. I try not to eat anything after 7, but sometimes I get that craving. I'm hoping to stay consistent with drinking water as that can hold me over most of the time. Good luck everyone!!!

SCHILENSKI if you are really having trouble staying away from that free food ask yourself what kind of food you really enjoy eating. For the most part, you are able to find healthy alternatives that will help satisfy that craving and that way when you bring the snacks to work, you can bring something that you feel is on par to or even better than what they have in the lunch room.

sounds good to me! My biggest challenge is staying away from all the free food in the break room at my office...so far I've been doing pretty well but some days it is very hard. I've been bringing snacks from home to stay away from the lunch room

I am definitely in for this challenge. The last few weeks I have been struggling getting into the swing of working out on a regular basis. I am going on a cruise with my family in December so I am going to really start to be accountable for what I am doing and eating. I would like to be down 11 lbs when I leave. It is going to be a challenge but I am ready to make it happen! emoticon

Hey everyone this is my first time joining in on a blog but i think this is a great way to help me be accountable and find great ideas. I joined WW this summer in June at 237pounds and am currently down to 211 I did a 8 wk program with them but the cost is too much so hopefully this site will help me maintain and continue to lose. Short term goal 200 lbs by Christmas and 185 by February.

I'm in on this! I am working really hard to get back on track and I really want to do this before the Holidays hit.
Good luck everyone! My goal this week is to take my dog on a 10 min. bike ride each morning and ride my bike to work (1.5 miles). It's only a two day work week, but I plan to take my dog on her bike ride each day no matter what...unless I decide to run with her instead. :)
Good luck everyone! Stick with it!

This morning was a little tough. While I was doing my workout of the day, my brother was baking some cookies and the smell was very tough to deal with.

But, I didn't eat any...mostly because he burned them but still.

I'm in! I'd like to get to my goal weight by the new year, what better way to start the new year than exactly where you want to be! I'm going to work on more strength training and finding new work outs as the snow begins to fly and I'm shuffled indoors.

Well,
So far, on this challenge, I have had a few successes. I am trying to walk more and have accomplished that this morning (I am passing back student papers by walking around the room!)

I am trying to cut back on the sweets--yesterday was a success, but the days proceeding it have had quite a few sweets! I will definately work on this!

Ok everyone.

The goal is to use this forum as a support system for clean living.

Post things you are really confident in that you would like to share with everyone else. Alternatively, post things you think you need some work on. I will do my best to help but I know I do not have all the answers, so I will also rely on all of you when I struggle with something.

I am very confident that I am going to workout every day for the next indefinite period of time. As a current P90Xer, there is no chance I am missing a workout.

My diet is pretty clean but some times I struggle with finding variety. Chicken, egg whites, protein shakes, CLIF bars are pretty much staples in my every day diet. I have been struggling with finding healthy condiments and have been using a ton of hot pepper jelly recently.

Feel free to check out my nutrition tracker to find ideas for some protein rich meals/foods. (50% of my current food intake comes from protein...400g/day).

Keep it clean everyone!

A good way to control the night time snacks and sweet intake is to make sure that you are snacking in a healthy way throughout the day. Many people who snack late at night are doing so because they are not getting enough food throughout the day.

What a good idea! Why not work towards our goals BEFORE the New Year!!

I am pretty good about living/eating clean. I need to focus on cutting back on nighttime snacking, sweets, and getting more exercise. My goal is to workout for an hour a day and get in at least 10 minutes of walking a day!

Hi everyone,

We have just over 2 and a half months until 2011 and there is still plenty of time to work on your 2010 goals to set yourself up for a successful, happy 2011.

I am challenging myself and all of you to keep it clean until the end of 2010. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO JOIN THIS CHALLENGE!! What do I mean by keep it clean?

Nutrition:
- Eating clean is the most important part of weight loss, maintenance, and healthy living in general. So to keep it clean in terms of nutrition, I am challenging everyone to make sure you are getting plenty of complex carbohydrates, at least 5 servings per day of fruits/vegetables, lean meats and focus on portion control. This also means drinking lots of water!

Exercise:
- Keeping it clean when you exercise involves consistency and safety. To live a clean lifestyle, you need to get dirty in the gym, at home, outside or where ever it is that you workout. Pushing yourself as hard as you can will give you a sense of accomplishment, purpose and it will also allow you to eat more "clean" food.
- I challenge everyone to get at least 10 minutes of cardio in every day. That can be something as simple as taking your dog for a walk around the block to something as difficult sprinting up and down the stairs with a 25 pound weighted vest on your back.
- I am also challenging everyone to get some weights in. If you do not strength train, I am challenging you to start and if you do, I am challenging you to be consistent until the end of 2010 to set up some momentum for 2011.

Motivation:
- Making the right decisions ties in both fitness and nutrition and it will be very motivating.
- Living clean involves surrounding yourself with positive people because there is nothing more demoralizing than a "negative nancy."
- This challenge is nothing without motivation. So you need to surround yourself with positive people; don't sweat the small stuff and remember nobody is perfect and you should not strive for perfection. 2 STEPS FORWARD 1 STEP BACK IS THE MOTTO.

Do Work everyone and use this forum to update everyone on your progress, struggles and to ask for advice from other members
