Day 1 for me also. I have really struggled with extreme yo-yo weight swings for the last 6 months. So here goes: April goals are to track my water intake and work up to the hour walk my doctor has said I must do.

OK, I can do this. Day 15 is day 1 for me. The challenges aren't all that hard so I can probably do several today and then double up for the rest of the month and get all of them done. My goals for this month....lose at least 5 more pounds I am up from the 268 to 274, but that weigh in was after a weekend of almost non eating. Had some infection in my body from a boil and had no appetite and was running a fever....but the 274 seems to be my steady current weight so lets shoot for 269 by April 30th. Let's see.....walk with my dog at least three times each week......My blood pressure is pretty well controlled with my daily med but I can try to eliminate some extra sodium by staying away from packaged foods that have a high content.

Day 1 - Today is April 4th but I am setting my goals as follows for the month of April...

1. Drink water - 8 a day.
2. Lose 4 lbs this month.
3. Get back to exercise. I aim to get 15 minutes or more each day.


At the end of the day, be able to look back and say "I did my best today."

I am attempting to switch my sleep schedule after coming off of working 7a-3p and 3p-11p shifts every week. I'm officially a 7-3 girl now and I have to do the work of getting to bed early and getting up early to give myself time to get ready in the morning without starting the day off in a panicked rush.

My goal for April is to be in bed before 11pm every night and to adjust my wake up time so I can take a shower in the morning (turns out it wakes me up after years of taking showers at night so I could have more sleep time).

I will be continuing my regular activities and fortunately for me it is time to start some garden and yard work as well as changing out some seasonally used stuff. I'm afraid I need to do some major rearrangement of learning and reference materials. I spent about 2 hours on some of that today so I got some lifting and turning in.

Hello everyone, well I am going to try this.
My Goals this month is to lose 10 lbs.
Stay within my daily nutrition count which is between 1000- 1300 cal a day.
Do my workouts everyday for at least 45 min .
Ride my bike at least 5 days a week.

Sorry I am late didn't read my mail yesterday.
My goal is to continue on the hospitals 8 week weight loss program and lose at least a pound a week, or at least not gain any back. To continue walking on the treadmill at least 2 miles a night, and include some balance ball exercises too.

With Christ I can do anything!

Hi, I am late as I just read my e-mail.
Goals are to exercise 35 minutes 6 days a week and lose two pounds this month. The sad thing is I am gaining weight again so will be starting at 190 lbs. (That is a truly round number) The other goal is to take my blood pressure at least twice a week, so today it is 145/89 a little high with medication. But I did just weigh myself!

My number one goal is to walk, walk, walk . . . around the block or to Leslie Sansone DVD's--whenever I can. I have a physical scheduled with my doctor a couple of weeks & even though my blood pressure will be okay (medication's keeping it under control), she'll know I've not been exercising because my heart rate will be high.

Let's see, my goals for April are:

1. Exercise 5 out of 7 days (do 7 if possible)
2. Eat within calorie range
3. Keep my sodium within range
4. Lose 2 pounds
5. Keep a positive attitude and dwell on the positive changes I am making

It's great to see so many team members responding here! I'm hoping to have quite a few more soon because I got a lot of replies to my team mail message from people that have never used the discussion boards and are interested but need some help getting started -- woo hoo, that makes me REALLY happy!!

I'm new here - but going to join in anyway.

Goal: To try the Sparkpeople menus (which are based on my health issues) for one month, without obsessing when I feel I need to make substitutions.

Apr 1 - New foods to me that I tried I liked: Neufchatel cheese (wow!), Black beans and rice, balsamic vinegar and oil, soy milk

Didn't care for - sliced almonds with the garlic ginger rice. That recipe needs to be changed so there is less garlic for me.

My goals for April: Make more time for myself.
Get back to eating healthier foods again.
Stop making excuses for not eating healthy.
Start doing my workouts consistently. At least 45 minutes a day.
Stop making excuses for not doing my workouts consistently.
Start drinking my water again. At least 10 glasses a day.
Get back into tracking my sodium intake.

For the MONTH! I want to lose 20 pounds a week!!!

How about since my weight has been stagnant for over a month I challenge myself to at least 1 POUND PER WEEK and POST EVERYTHING I EAT!!

I have greater challenges this month than my blood pressure (I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in three years), but I think the daily challenges will be a good help to me in both. Right now my goal is to get through the month stronger than I was when it started.

Goal 1: Weigh 170 by the end of April (currently 175)
Goal 2: Track my blood pressures regularly (at least weekly)
Goal 3: Increase strength training to include Wednesday evening and Saturday mornings weekly.
Goal 4: Cut back diet soda intake to no more than 16 oz per day.
Goal 5: Cut back dining out to no more than 3 times weekly.

My goals for April are:

1. Keep my BP at approx 120/80, which it is when I am on plan.
2. Lose 4 pounds by 4/25. This will put me in a new set of 10's.
3. Exercise at least 5 times a week, for at least 50 minutes each time. This will include walking (avg 3.5 mph), biking, swimming, pilates, and dance class.
4. Stick to 1200-1400 calories a day, under 1000 mg sodium, over 25 grams of fiber.

My Goals For April Are:

1. Get my numbers down.

2. Lose between 4 to 8 pounds for the month. I know it is Healthy to lose only 1 to 2 pounds weekly even if it will take a couple of years to get down to my goal weight.

3. To exercise daily.

4. To eat The Mediterranean Way.

I've been struggling with staying with my plan for the last several months now, but I believe I finally am ready to move on and start making some progress again !

My goals for April:
Stay within my recommended calorie range, between 1300-1500 daily.
At least 15 minutes of trackable physical activity daily, with at least 5 miles walked each week.
Increase my average walking speed from 2.6 mph to 2.8 mph.
Strength training with resistance bands 3-4 times a week, at least 15 minutes each time.
Drink at least 8 cups of plain water daily.
Limit alcohol intake to no more than 2 days per week, and no more than 4 drinks on those days.

My blood pressure is pretty well controlled by my medication right now if I stay away from added salt, but I'm always looking for ways to reduce the meds I take so here goes.
During April I'd like to:
Lose 4 to 8 lbs. by meeting my nutrition and fitness goals daily
Diversify my menus to keep boredom at bay
Diversify my fitness routine for the same reason
Increase the intensity of cardio exercise I can tolerate by working a little harder every day
Get more active doing things in the house and yard - spring cleaning
