That's really wonderful to read! Even just in the last two days of tracking with sparkpeople i'm noticing how high my sodium levels are. You've done a great job of lowering yours emoticon

I also have "white coat syndrome". Nurse took my reading, it was 170/80. Doctor had her let me rest for 5 mins. The next reading was 130/70. BIG difference.

Watch me closely, Lord. I'm hungry, and I'm weak.

Yes, I too have the white coat syndrome, ha ha..it's crazy how much sodium is in every day foods. You really have to read all the labels. What really gets me is the sodium they add in the chicken breast. I haven't found any that didn't have sodium in it yet. Have you?

Your experience sounds a lot like mine. I have found that sodium is really a big problem for me, too, and I see my BP staying down pretty well now with a low dose of BP meds and less sodium. Hoping once I lose more weight, I can get off the meds. The problem is every time I go to the doctor and they take my BP, it is way up. My husband has the same thing happen..."white coat syndrome" they call it. Guess we need to get less stressed out about that doctor thing! Anyway we will keep doing our best. Good luck. emoticon

I have also brought BP down with SP and excercise. I have been running normal or even just a bit low. I really recommend standing meditation.

My blood pressure is borderline, goes way up if I eat a lot of salty foods. So I'm trying to get it under control by avoiding salt and exercising. I'm glad to hear it's working for others... i'd prefer not to take meds...

Wow! I am impressed because my BP is up a bit like yours and needs to come down more.

Hi, everyone.
Well, I've been on bp medicine for over a year. Been trying to lose weight with weight watchers and it was slow going. quit and then found the weight again. Then I found spark people! I put in all the food for a normal day on ww program and saw that the sodium was over 4000 mg per day. No wonder it wasn't going down. My bp was running between 130+ to 140 over 80's and 90's. So I've been on spark people for going on 4 weeks now, lost 14.2 lbs and cut my sodium down to below 800, usually averaging in the 400's and 500's each day, and have been working out 5 days per week. Last night I took my bp and it was 122/80. That's the lowest I've had it in a long time.
This truly proves to me that using spark people, watching my sodium, losing weight and exercising WILL get this bp down!!

No more denial, no more excuses! I can and will succeed!
