I can't believe how much fun I am having using a walking foot to quilt the quilt! Each square has echo quilting and I"m making sure to iron and pin each section to keep it from wrinkling. It looks fabulous, back and front! Carol

Taking the Craftsy class using a Walking Foot and I am quilting a top that has languished around here for about 3 years. Turning out beautifully using echoing technique. I think I am going to try some spirals on one of the blocks. Maybe if I start thinking this is fun, I can get a mid arm machine for quilting. Carol

I signed up for the class and watched two sessions. Already learned enough to make it worth it and I quilted my zig zag quilt using her suggestions and I had no lumps on the back. Things I've learned already, pin, pin and pin. Okay, I was cutting corners on this. She also says pin all in the same direction. Good tip! We are quilting with a walking foot and I seem to prefer straight lines to curves. At least my hands do. Carol

Got a note from Craftsy this morning and highlights this quilting class using a walking foot. Now this is for me as I have trouble with those curves. Straight lines are more like it. However, I will have to wait until this class goes on sale for me to take it. Carol

Found this today when someone forwarded it my way. Maybe it will be a useful reference for dealing with Olfa Mats. -- Did you know one is supposed to moisturize the mat occasionally?

I love Pinterest too... it is addictive though emoticon I save lots of quilt stuff there, among too many other things!

I consider myself a beginning quilter, and I really like the youtube videos from MissouriQuiltCo. They are really good how-tos.

I love looking at historical quilts so I am really glad that I found http://www.quiltindex.org

I was looking for examples of quilting on certain quilt blocks, and also trying to find out a little more about the history of a specific block. It's also a great way to see the results of using a certain block without owning eq or making a paper draft. Once you know the dimensions of the quilt, I can figure out the sizes of the blocks. I want to make a sawtooth diamond quilt and I've been looking at examples for ideas.

Likewise for modern quilts doing a GOOGLE IMAGE search shows page after page of specific quilt types.

And Quiltvillefriends
Bonnie Hunter is a great designer, writes a prolific and interesting blog that includes pictures of student creations from her classes, so that you can see the same block in a wide variety of looks and fabrics.
She also does a completely free mystery quilt every year. I just finished the top of her mystery "Easy Street"- my first mystery, and a joy to put together. It was fascinating to see all the variety of color schemes and the dozens of finished tops
