You know, I never thought about supplementing more protein and eat more veggies. That appeals to me as I'm not a big meat eater to begin with. Hmmmmmm... thanks! You've given me something to work on!

I just got some FiberSmart from Renew Life. It's Gluten free and Psyllium free. Mostly Flax. I like it so far.

XOXOXO

I would say that supplementation is a way of life, at least for me...and I had pretty much been warned of that as I was prepping for surgery. The protein drinks, particularly those that I can incorporate as part of my regular water intake as opposed to shakes, allow me to eat more veggies/fruit at meals and still be assured that I have met my protein goals. For fiber, I use BeneFiber, which dissolves in basically anything without that thick mouth feel, which I dislike.

I am a lapbander. As I got more restriction and had to eat less, it became harder to get all my nutrition in my diet..... Protein, veggies, fruit & fiber. I feel boxed in. By the time I eat the protein part of my meal first, then I only feel like eating a little bit of my veggies. So I end up supplementing with protein powder, veggie powder/drink and fiber gummies. I am a farm girl and want to eat real food!

What are some of your strategies to get a balanced meal? Is supplementation a fact of life now?

XOXOXO

Good strategy!

Since I've had my Band, I think it's really my husband who's living la vida loca, since I tend to split almost everything with him, particularly if we go out.

I'm loving those restaurants that are offering the small dessert choices, like Olive Garden's dolchini...they are only about 3 bites worth. Just enough to satisfy the sweets monster while not putting you in overload.

Best, Christine

Greetings, everyone!

One of the suggestions I had for new topics was to open a forum to talk about how to adapt to our new post-surgical lifestyle. This could encompass many topics...nutrition, exercise, relationships (both with others and with yourself). I'll look forward to seeing what evolves!

Best always, Christine
