OK - I started this challenge...then...hmmmm...not sure what happened...but I let it go somewhat. I restarted yesterday. Rereading the book helps to pump me up. I'll keep it handy now.
Kudos to all of you! Taking steps = success! Pat :-)

I am doing cooler 1-first week and I spent 156 bucks at the grocery store yesterday for the entire week and I got some extra chicken and other items that were on sale. I also bought enough to share with hubby too.
Also started c25k yesterday, intended to just do that, but got lost in my new neighborhood, so my 30 minute workout turned into 60! Wow I am sore!
I am in a wedding in December and would love to lost 30 or so pounds by then. I have exactly 2 months from today. I am determined to never be the fat bridesmaid again! Bad enough that I was chubby in my own wedding! I also want to lose weight before I get pregnant, hopefully within the year!
Today's eating has gone relatively well so far, stuck to cooler 1 except that I made birthday cake playdough with my students for a social studies lesson. Oh well, there is tomorrow and it will be better!
Good luck to the rest of you! It looks like you are a month into it. Have you had success? I start good but usually fall off the boat after the first few days. Hopefully this time will be different!

Hi! I'm Jamie and I'm new to this group - would you be willing to share what you get at the Grocery and store and how much of it, generally? I'm wondering if I will spend $50/day just to maintain the daily cooler. Are you finding this plan, although simple, to be costly?
Thanks, just wondering...

Hi all!
I'm new to this challenge and a couple weeks late but I'm in to join! I have 30 pounds to lose by next summer and want to kick off a brand new 2010 as well. I have Tosca's cookbook which is helpful for health but not as much for weight loss and staying on track. These cooler plans are awesome. How many does she have in her book and do you think it's worth the purchase?
Thanks so much! Starting the challenge with you tomorrow!

The Eating Clean concept is based on Tosca Reno's book The Eat-Clean Diet. The cooler plan from the book page 88 in a nut shell as I see it:(of course there is a lot more to the book then the cooler plan)

I would love to jump in this challenge but I am confused as to what the guidelines are. I finish a Mountain Train Halv Marathon 2 weeks ago and haven't done anything since. It's amazing how quick the weight comes on with inactivity. Need to get back on track with my meals too.
thanks Theresa

I'm in for a challenge.. my goal is to lose approximately 1.5lb a week between now and early December (going on a short trip). I have been really pushing myself to eat clean and work out consistenly and with a purpose!
Been vegetarian-ish and eat clean-ish for a few years now (no soda, no caffeine, very few processed foods, fish a few times a week and very rarely chicken or beef, lots of veggies and fruit, whole grains).
My downfalls are stress eating at work (the only time I EVER, EVER crave cheetos) and hanging out with friends....and the associated friend's wine bottle. Ok, ok.. and the occasional chocolate attack :-)
Been on my self challenge for about 6 weeks now and am down about 8 pounds so far.
Lets do this!!

Hi Everyone, Lost 3 pounds this week. It wasn't easy. I think the hardest part of clean eating is planning. There were a few days I grabbed something quick for dinner. Trying to plan better this week. I also need to add daily exercise. How has the week one gone for everyone? STW 177 CW 174 GW 135

OK - week 1 was less than stellar, but I had an epiphany ~ I work my butt off at the gym every morning at 5 AM...I follow a strict training schedule, and I have since June...problem is...my eating has not been as clean as it could/should be.
So, knowing that looking awesome is 80% diet...I will now, finally focus my efforts on eating clean. I have changed my mindset to "I am training" ~ not "I'm on a diet" or "I need to lose weight."
I have the workouts down. I can't wait to see the transformation now that nutrition will be a focus.
Great job everyone!! Pat :-)

Day 7 Cooler Plan 1.
Doing good. I have had a headache for the past couple of days, tho. But still working out and staying on the plan!
Laura, I'm following what's in the book. laid out for Cooler 1. It is the same food with a little variety. It certainly eliminates the 'what's for lunch?' dilemma!
As for caffeine-I don't drink sodas but I'll NEVER give up my coffee! I drink mine black, no sugar.

I have been doing very well with the eating clean. I'm following my version of cooler 2 & cooler 3. The only thing that I haven't completely cut out is I'm still having one diet pop a day. I used to have 2 cans a day. It's not perfect, but it is a start. I don't have any other form of caffeine so I'm nervous about totally cutting it out. How does everyone that is following cooler 1 get variety in their food. I want to try cooler one, but feel like I might be eating the same food everyday! Any ideas would be great!

Day three going well - however, I am succumbing to a glass a diet pop. I usually have 2-3 day, and this is the first time I've had anything other than water. Which, I should tell you, I've been drinking a lot of. With Lemons.
I'm finding Cooler one very easy to stick to - I don't get hungry at all (scratch that, I was hungry this am at work - boss kept me busy so I couldn't eat, drat that man!)
And speaking of the boss, he loves to bring food in to share. yesterday I had to decline Toblerone several times; cheese and lunch meat and bread at 11 a.m., and again today. I told him I was on a special diet, but he's from Europe and likes "his" women (not sure how to put it), but, un-thin? meat on their bones? Anyhow, I stuck with my diet and so far, so good!

Day two was pretty good...except for the lttle bit of mac n cheese which I noticed because I felt icky afterwards. Happy about my calorie count.. hit the gym with 30 minute jog, weights and stretching. I do better with the water on days that I go to the gym because I automaticly drink before during and after. Good thing I go 5 days a week.

Day 2 was harder. My husband wanted to go to his favourite fast food place. We have not been there all year so felt I had to give in. I did have a salad but needed something more so had chicken strips. I hope tomorrow will be better.

Day one went ok for me. I was gone with the girls all weekend, so I was a little unprepared by Monday. My youngest was home sick. Work was hectic. Not enough veggies in the house. No exercise. Day 2 is a new day. I've been training for a 5K the end of November so I will be at the gym this afternoon and heading to the produce stand this morning before work.

I did quite well but probably could have used some more calories. The day seemed to fly by. I didn't feel hungry. I cannot consume the amout of water Tosca calls for. I would spend my day in the washroom.lol My age has something to do with that though.
I did get to the gym and did more than a l00 min of cardio. I have an arm that is bothering me a lot so I stretched it a lot but would like to get back to the weights. I used only 3lb weights while walking/jogging on the teadmill. It seemed to help but would not wanted to use any heavier.
Continued success everyone. Lets make it another great day.

Day one of cooler one - did good, ate my meals and felt full all day! shocking!
Quinoa is surprisingly good. I'm rather pleased that I enjoy it so much.
My weight this morning was 153, and my measurements hasn't changed in the past month. I hope to see a good change at the end of this challenge.
I went to the gym during lunch; it's going to be a tough week to get cardio in, but I'll be doing some weight workouts every lunch hour.

Hi, Today was day one for most. I was very unhappy with the weight today. Last time I weighed myself I was 5 pounds lighter. I spent some of the weekend reviewing Tosca's diet plan. Today I realized I don't get enough water in. Focused on the water intake guidelines (pg47) 500ml=16oz before breakfast 500ml with breakfast 500ml mid morning meal (missed it) 50ml at Lunch 250ml mid afternoon meal 250ml dinner (I had 500 with dinner) 250ml during workout 250ml after workout (I had 250 after workout) All and all a pretty good start. One day at at time. Thanks everyone!

Well it looks like everyone is under way and doing well! Woo!
I'm doing cooler one for this week and next. I'm like LeisaBM and went back to my CED book and reviewed some of the principles of CE and it also got me excited too. I forgot how much discipline cooler one requires :- But, I feel good. I'm reminding myself that I did cooler one 8 weeks and was extremely successful. I'll move to cooler 2 after these first two weeks.
Day one is going well. I'm following the 3rd cooler plan and might switch to a stricter one in a week or two.

I think I want in. I'm pregnant, so my goal is not to lose weight, but just to eat healthy. I gave up sugar and soda a couple of months ago, no problem, but lately, it has slowly crept back into my diet. I HAVE to get back on track. I need a challenge and support, so I think this will be great for me!

OK - I just read it...I am a vegan, so I will follow the Vegan plan...cooler 2. I lift and do cardio 5-6 days per week, but since Labor Day weekend, I've really gotten away from total clean eating.
The time to refocus is NOW...thanks for the challenge! What a lovely holiday gift to give ourselves!!!

This sounds like a great challenge. I'm with you all. I have been working on my eating as I'm right where I want to be, however, I'm still looking to get as lean as I should be without compromise. I've followed EC for the last year, with modifications, I'm thinking I want to got strict. I'm in.
Count me in, too. I was about to embark on 2 weeks of cooler one tomorrow anyways - Just took my pics (perhaps I'll enter into Tosca's 12 week challenge -the official one-) and I'll be weighing and measuring myself in the morning.

Sounds good. I am not going to follow a ridgit plan. I will eat as clean as possible and exercise. I am very lactose intolerent so a lot of things do not work for me so I do as much as possible.
I am looking forward to doing much better with everyones help.

Hi everyone! 12 weeks doesn't seem too long. I hope we can all stay the course. I just finish my first 5k two weeks ago. What an accomplishment. Congratulations to all in the C25K Group. Except for Randomoob- Very jealous about Europe! Please join us until you leave. Zafirah- You have to do what you can. Last meal at 8, as long as you remain eating clean you should be okay. Acogan- Join us and consider those last 5 pounds gone. Madrew- I haven't heard about Dr. Parricone before? Tosca's plan is balanced and unprocessed. I definitely feel better when I stick to it. Laurakins- Hope you found the plan. Wannabfit- Thanks for the gift Peacefulone- Guidelines..... We need some!!! Ellie381- Get back on the plan with us! What do you think... Guidelines Log Weight Every Monday Check in daily to report... Stayed on plan, exercised, water consumed, motivation, and Q & A. Let me know if you agree or need the plan. I will be following Tocas Gluten-Free Meal Plan. As far as the plan goes... We can stay on the Cooler plan, Vegan Plan, Family Meal Plan, 21 reviving Oxygen plan, or the Gluten Free Meal Plan as long as we eat clean. I think we are going to need to mix and match days so we don't get bored.

What a coincidence! I started C25K, made it to week 5 and found I had to go back to Week 3 becuz I didn't feel I was doing as well as I should.. So tomorrow I'll be back to Week 3 Day 1-it would have been week 6 day 1.

Hi ladies I am new to this group but not to clean eating. I would love to be a part of this challenge (except my last meal will have to be at 8pm). What is the exercise component of the challenge? For cardio I dance but I would like to start C25K again if anyone is interested (I always get stuck at week 3). Also, will we be posting daily? I am really looking for a truly active group to support me on this journey again or even a partner to help support one another. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I have my last 5 pounds to lose and would love to do it before the end of the year. I'll do my best to eat clean and participate in the challenge. Thanks for the motivation!! -Amy

I totally want to do this challenge, except I'll be going to Europe at the end of November and will be sampling the chocolate :-) I can accept the challenge to eat clean from 9/21 to 11/20.

Ooh, I'm with you! I was going to start the Cooler Plan 1 on Monday, anyway, but it'll be great to have someone to do it with!

i have the book and DVD. I wanted to see how it worked. I have been following Dr Perricone Diet for a long time. I am a vegetarian for about now for over 10 years I do eat a lot of wild salmon, fruit and vegetables. My kitchen is clean of any food that is fatty or that would cause inflammation. Health starts from the inside out repair the body after workout with protein and eating correctly throughout the day.Water is essential too. It is a way of life for me. Everyday is a good day when you are healthy and can help every one to be healthy and fit.

Help!!! I finally got Tosca's books but need the motivation to jump start into a clean eating routine. Anybody up for a challenge! Don't want to go into the new year with this weight. We have 12-15 weeks before 2010. We should do a 12 week challenge. Start on 9/21 end 12/14 before X-MASS. Lets revive the eating clean cooler plan 1 or the reviving oxygen plan. Lets do it together!!!!!
Go for your dreams!
