Laura, I'm not sure about the mileage, but we spin for 1 long-g-g hour. It is very intense.

Yes, I have been eating healthy. Breakfast I ate a recipe I got from here - cream of wheat, oatmeal wheat germ, nuts & raisins and a whole lot more. It is absolutely delicious. Lunch was stir fry, another one of my favorites. Dinner will be baked fish, peas, brown rice, & green beans.

Here I am. I'm just coming back from my spinning class. I am doing great and I'm glad to hear everyone else is good. The weather in Memphis is in the high 70's. That is fantastic for this time of year.

I am only taking one class on line this semester, so I'm preparing myself mentally to get started.

I bought some nutritutional yeast and am trying on brown rice for lunch today. I have never tried it, but read that it was loaded with B12.

Good news and bad news. First, good, I found the truvia and it tasted pretty good in my coffee. So no sugar there.

Bad news-I have never eaten s'mores. My kids have had them in scouts and I would buy the ingredients to make them at home for all of their childhood. Now Fri., my 24 yr. old and his girlfriend make some s'mores and without hesitation I ate two. Man, was it sweet. I became dizzy and sick at the stomach from the sugar high. No more s'mores for me. Now the question is why after all of the years would I try them out when I wasn't even tempted by them in earlier years?

I had a run-in with 3 Snickerdoodles last night...uh-oh. My son baked them and I thought I'd try ONE...haha...you know how that goes ;-) One led to three...that's life.

I've been doing really well, though...I rarely eat sugar anymore. No sugar today.

...Thanks for the info concerning agave & honey. At the beginning of the challenge I used honey in my coffee (it tasted ok), but I wasn't sure if it was considered sugar & it had too many calories, so I stopped.

...Pat you did wonderful on vacation and with being able to make cupcakes and not eat any...
...I didn't have any coffee this morning, so all is well. I did just eat a peach and it was delicious. It's amazing how good and sweet fruit tastes, once you get off sugar. My favorite healthy dessert is a baked sweet potato. Now that is yummy since I have been off sugar and occasionally I will add a little butter, extra yummy. I love being off sugar.

Hello Everyone! I'm back from vacation - I actually got back on the 9th, but my husband has had this past week off so I haven't been online as much.

I did well on vacation with only one slice of store bought banana bread and a few small cookies. Hmmmm...

Since we've been home, I've had no sugar...OK, I licked the frosting off my finger when I finished icing cupcakes for a birthday celebration.

Other than that...doing fine :-)

I'm going for a routine colonoscopy this afternoon and have had NO SOLID FOOD since Saturday night. I'm soooooo hungry!!! I'll manage....I think :-)

Hi Appy,
I went on the 30 day challenge, but failed a few days, so I am going to do it again, one week at a time. Therefore I will join you beginning tomorrow, Monday. This time though, I will have my morning coffee with sugar. I just don't want to give up my coffee again. Sometimes I do drink it black, but when I want a treat, I add sugar.so we'll see.

Ellie, you do not sound crazy. You are just teaching your flesh to be under the control of your spirit man...Thanks for the recipe. I just finished copying it.

I just finished eating my first complete clean meal of the week. We just got the water turned back on in the kitchen. I missed my clean food. I tried to eat healthy out, but you can tell that they cook with a lot of additives and GREASE. Ugh! I'm scared to get back on the scale as I feel like I have gained back all that I lost during the no sugar challenge. I kept up my 6 day a week gym workouts.
Laura, honey, you have a lot to look forward to as you mature, but there is a plus side-no longer do you have to put up with the "monthly." Just keep on doing what you are doing now and you can curb those horrible hot flashes. Sugar,caffiene and simple carbs are great contributing factors to them.

Laura here is the recipe

Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user STEPHANIE.F

ENERGY BALLS

2 oz dates, roughly chopped
2 oz prunes, roughly chopped
1 oz pumpkin seeds
1 oz walnuts
1 oz ground flaxseed
2 oz sultanas or raisins
2 oz dried apricots, roughly chopped
approx 2 TBS water
approx 2 oz sesame seeds

Put the dates, prunes, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and flaxseed into food processor. Process until fruit is mashed and nuts and seeds are roughly chopped. Add raisins and apricots; process just until combined. Add just enough water to bind together (about 2 TBS) to make balls. Roll spoonfuls of mixture in sesame seeds until well coated. Makes about 20 small balls, or can be made into 10 larger balls. Chill.
*To make bars, stir the sesame seeds into the mixture and press into a tin lined with parchment paper or lightly greased tin. Chill. This amount fits into a 5"x9" pan.

Laura I made mine and keep them in a container in the fridge.

I agree Laura. I still have a few bad habits but I am working on them.

Congrats on being in the 150's soon. You have done such a great job.

While you are in that time of the month I am entering and re-entering the next stage of our female life menopause. So far so good but I do find it harder to keep a stable weight and for the last 6 months it is harder not to pull muscles with just my usual workouts. I am certainly glad I started the exercise many years ago so I now have a sence of how to change this for less pulls.

By the way my candy is still in the bag.lol I want it to sit there for another week or so and then I will give it away. I just need to know that I can do this, see it and still not want it. Do I sound crazy?

I have a found a new recipe called Energy Balls and it is dried fruit and seeds ground into balls. I have one of those if I am having a bad day and know I am still doing a good thing for my body.

Well....I am going through a few "female symptoms" earlier than I had expected sooooooo......I am having a rather tough day. emoticon ....however I am managing to keep exercising through it & it is helping, but NOT so easy at first! LOL!

I am keeping my sense of humor. I have found exercise to be SO rewarding for me esp. during the female cycle. Oops! Have I said too much ? emoticon

Hello:
Laura the storm never did come. We went on a day trip to the beach today and it was dark and calling for rain again but as we were driving away (on our way home) the rain started. How perfect was that.

We walked on the beach, walked down the pier, did a little beach shopping, had lunch and came home. It was wonderful.

I did something today I didn't think I would ever do. It makes me want to be sick thinking about it. I had a foot long hotdog at the beach. I do have to say it was very good, not fatty and homemade fresh buns, but still it was a hotdog. Yuck! This place we bought them at has been in business 90 years. I remember going their as a child. They are even better than I remember them being. lol

I did get a new pair of sandles so I was very happy. I am trying not to buy too many things so I had to think about it for a while. I ended up going back to get them.

It is about to storm here. Getting darker by the minute.

How is everyone doing? What have you done today?

I am trying to get used to a lot less money and still buy the things I would like at the grocery store. Why is it the clean foods are so much more money?

My husband took early retirement rather than a layoff. We are dealing soon with half his usual salary. I think we can make it work. He will get something part time once the summer is over.

Oh! we did our kitchen over about 18 months ago and it was so hard without it.
You just have to keep thinking how great it will look after.

I am still waiting for a kitchen floor. It is my fault. After everything we had done I didn't really want to spend anymore money. It is really something I need to start thinking about though.

Ok I had some sugar. My daughter brought me some candies for looking after her dogs this weekend. I really had to have one because she was waiting for me to eat one. I did really well though. I normally would eat one and not stop at that. There were 5 candies, I had one, gave one to each of my sons and I have two left. They are still in the bag and I don't have any interest in eating them. I will put them away for a treat sometime. I am very proud of what I have learned about myself with this challenge.

Hey, here I am. I've been busy redoing the kitchen that will be out of commission for a while. There won't be any water or counter tops so I have been strategically planning meals during this off time. Yes, we need to keep up and encourage each other.

Laura, I have to confess that on my grocery list I had written down the ingred. I needed to purchase for a pound cake. Well, I woke up this morning and told myself that I had worked too hard to have a cake in the house, and then prayed to be mentally and psychologically prepared to do what it takes to reach my goal weight. After praying and esp. for consistency I scratched the ingred. off my list, went to the grocery store and didn't even think about it. I know that prayer works because today I feel stronger than I have all these no sugar challenge days. One day at a time for me.

This has been a good challenge and I am ending it with a bang. I went to my spinning class, worked out with weights, then went to the grocey store. I bought all healthy foods and came home and cooked my meats and vegetable for the weekend. I am now ready for a sugar-free weekend.

I agree Laura. It was so nice not to do it alone. Now I know I can do it I will learn to continue with healthier alternatives. No more candy.lol

I will change things to healthier alternatives in cooking and baking and this challenge has taught me I can do that. When I think of certain foods I used to eat it makes me sick. Not that they were so bad but I know there is a much better alternative.

I am feeling very strong today. Sugar has been eliminated and I am so happy.

The chili was very good. I am trying to decide what I will make for dinner tonight. I really only need to decide what the boys would like. My husband will have more chili or maybe we will have tomato and onion sandwiches for lunch. Sounds good to me.lol (easy)

Dinner will be more of a challenge but I think I will make some healthy pizza. (easy also)lol

Ellie, I made chili last week and it was so good. I have never added sugar, but I do add diced tomatoes. My family thinks I'm crazy to make chili in the summer, but it's good any season for me.

I feel wonderful Laura.

So happy to hear you sang yesterday and had a great day.

I have chili in the crock pot and I always add l tbsp sugar but left it out this time. I am thinking of something else I could add but have not done it yet.
Before this challenge I would not even have thought of it. Crazy I know.

I am still trying to get the rest of the family on all whole wheat but my husband has a nut allergy and it seems to give him some of the feelings a peanut would so will not do too much different there. I do buy hamburger buns etc that we have here that are part whole wheat/white and a little is better than none I guess.lol

I have all the things to make your banana bread but I would like it to be cooler in the house before turning my oven on so I am hoping in a few days to try it.

I just finished a delicious bowl of watermelon. It was filling. This is a cheat food for me, but my trainer said I could have fruit occasionally. This weekend I have eaten more fruit than usual, but I will be back on track starting Mon. morning at the gym. The sugar-free challenge continues.

Good Morning ~ Day 5 for me...we're heading out on a lake vacation tomorrow morning for one week (staying in a house). We're going with friends who do eat a generally healthy diet. I will have to skip SOME things and bring additional *clean eats* but the sugar issue shouldn't be a problem, really.

It's great that when you don't eat the sweet stuff, you don't crave it either. There are some occasions when I would like a little dark chocolate. I'm not going to cave, though...I don't really NEED it and even THAT can trigger an avalanche!

Ellie, I have been eating plain oatmeal with no sugar for a few years, I only use soy or rice milk. My trainer has limited my fruit, but before I added raisins & walnuts or almonds in it. Yummy.

Hi everyone:
Things are crazy around here but I am still without sugar. emoticon

I am really liking my cereal with fruit and soy milk. No sugar of any kind on it, I didn't think it was possible.lol

This long weekend will not be a challenge for me. I am so happy to be sugar free.

I am 52 and have never needed a drug so am very lucky. I know it has a lot to do with what I eat and exercise but I know there are other things involved.

I hope everyone has a wonderful sugarfree weekend.
