I would like to join in on the challenge. I was doing great for a while, but not losing much. Turns out I have hypothyroidism. I was losing about 1 lb a Month, I got discourage, and gained the 6 lbs back. I'm still trying to eat as clean as I can, but I'm not doing as well. I'm having a hard time controlling my cravings. I started meds about 2 Months ago, hopefully they will help. One of my biggest challenges is figuring out how many calories to eat, especially on work out days.

I'm hoping that being involved in a challenge with others will keep me on track.

Tomorrow will be Day 1 for me.

I want to start the clean eating 21 day diet on August 9 so I can be able to track it until the end of the month. Sounds like a great thing!

I'm starting the 21 day challenge today. I had been doing well until last night when I got hold of a container of little tiny cookies and I just wouldn't let go! Yikes! So today I'll move forward ~ after only 2 weeks of weight training and clean eating, I'm seeing some nice muscle definition taking shape. Love it.

Onward...

Hi Buddies!!
How is the 21 Day Challenge going for you?
I'm doing pretty good. Not perfect but I have come down 3#'s, so I guess not too bad...
It just so happened that I had a Dr. appointment the same day I started the challenge(4-13-09). I commented to her what I was doing. She said that was great and wanted to make sure I was doing closer to 1500 calories if I was to continue exercising the way I have been. So I have not been to concerned about being so right on with food intake. I've been doing the plan with a protein bar here or a cookie there and exercising everyday alternating cardio, strength training and a little yoga as usual. I'm keeping it between 1200 and 1500 and that seems to be working with exercise. If I cut back on the exercise at all I will stick closer to the plan with no added foods.
18 days to go!!!

Amy,
It sounds like you are doing great. I looked back on day one of your post at your weight ticker and compared it to today's and noticed no change. I don't see any recent posts on your Spark page either. Have you lost any weight in 11 days on the challenge?emoticon

Gave up alcohol for Lent, along with deep fried foods. So Easter I am having my splurge meal. Something deep fried and a cocktail. I like to think I am going to have deep fried vodka for breakfast, but not sure how to go about it. Guess it will be beer battered fish.

I was back on track today -- the weekend was hard and lunch plans yesterday kept me derailed. I did 100% today and expect that I'll maintain tomorrow and Thursday.

Way to go on day 22. AMAZING!

A massage sounds nice. Once I lose 2.7 pounds I can get a pedicure and new sandals :) It's amazing how shoes motivate me. I had a sip of wine last night, but otherwise I followed the meal plan and got in 30 minutes on the stair stepper. Today I'm planning to get in a workout and the eating has gone well so far.

day 22 of eating clean..
the only obstacle i faced yesterday was that i got up at 9 to jog for 30min.. so had my protein shake at 940 then got ready for work.. had lunch then my dinner through work (i was there til 9) EARLY.. at 3 because i had a client at 4 and the manager doesnt like us taking it after 4.. so i shoveled that down and packed 3 snacks.. i had tuna as a snack but ate it at 930..
i didnt know if it was better to skip and be under cals or eat that late :(
i hope i lose 4.3 more pounds so i can get a pedicure soon hahaha.
i already book massages because my back is a mess an did it a part of my health and well being.. and i get it covered 80%

Yesterday was my first full day eating clean. I was surprised that I was able to do it. I am following the meal plan from the magazine so luckily I don't have to put too much thought into the meals right now. I still have not looked at anything for Easter and I'm supposed to go to 2 different dinners so I am definitely concerned.
Today is going well, so far so good.

I have done pretty well so far...although we went for Chinese food yesterday which is probably not so clean. They said that they don't add MSG so that is a plus. I controlled myself pretty well I think. I'm not exactly sure how to count the calories but I think I went over my limit a bit but not too much. Weekends are hard just because there is no schedule. I usually have some type of energy bar or protein bar in my purse for emergencies. It's better than stopping for a burger.
Keep up the great work everyone.

HI! I have to say, the weekends are tough. I can't plan my weekends for my family around clean eating -- or at least I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Yesterday was a bust, but today better. Bad choices, but food was clean. Way to much chips with salsa and I made practically clean cookies. yummy - but ugh on the calories!

Back on track tomorrow and this week! I'm loving this challenge...it's keeping me more accountable!

I have done really well until today. My husband and I went out of town to some stores. I had breakfast but we don't stop too often for fast food ect. and I didn't know we would be gone so long so I have not eaten or drank enough today. I am hoping it doesn't back fire on me tonight.

I do not want to "force" myself to eat clean. I am allowed on "cheat" meal and a few snacks a week. Today I had 2 See's truffles. Every bite worth it and enjoyed. Then I had a piece of an oatmeal cookie. Not the best option, but tasty with oats and raisins. Other than that I have been clean. Tomorrow dinner is my cheat meal, but I am going to make a healthier choice.

I did 4 days 100%. Today, I had pizza for dinner, but clean ever other meal. I plan on 100% through the weekend. That will be a real challenge for me. The structure of a cooler on a weekday is so much easier.

Well today I didn't do so well with eating clean, probably because I don't have the appropriate groceries, but I downloaded the list from the meal plan in the May/June issue so I will be ready to shop today. I just realized that the 21 days will go through Easter. I know that clean eating magazine usually does holiday meals, but I didn't get my March/April issue and the don't have it in any of the stores around me. Does anyone know what information they gave for Easter? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

When I crave gummie candy I eat prunes. They are sweet, chewy and filling. And you will only over do it once.

just finished day 17...
(although im starting another 21 days with all of you).
not sure how much cardio i should be doing.. i do roughly 30min (i hate cardio) on the treadmill. dumbbells maybe 3-4x a week...

i am craving sour patch kids and sour coke bottles...
my coworkers were eating gummybears all week.. torture.

i rented 'supersize me' so i can watch it and not feel as passionate about wanting the sour keys etc.

Wow...Yeah, day 4 already! Very cool!
Doing good, doing good, doing good and I've managed to make it to the gym 4 days too!

I had an up and down day emotionally and going to the gym really helped me in a couple of ways.
A)I feel much better and clear minded.
B)I wasn't home feeling bad about stuff which may have caused me to then eat unnecessarily and emotionally.

Clean eating and exercise=Healthy body and mind!
It's all good!

FINDINGBEAU, I always pack my lunch with an AM and PM snack. Then I always have a least one other snack an a serving of protein powder. In a rush I mix the powder with water. Yum! Chocolate water, but it works.

Hi all! I agree that eating on the run, or when there's no time for planning/packing is near impossible. I've been focused this week for the challenge and thank you for starting it to help keep me motivated.

Woo Hoo -- day 4, 100% clean is done.

arghhhhh! I was doing so well....till last night. Every morning I plan and pack my meals for the day. Then yesterday I was mandated to work a double shift from evenings to nights. I won't even tell you the crap I ate. There I was with my lunch bag empty. When I am tired I have always made bad choices.

BUT I not going to let it prevent me my goal.

I know what you mean LILMAC79. I have a B-day party to go to on the 25th and I do plan on drinking some. I think as long as we can plan ahead for these occasions we should be ok. Exercise alot that day and eat light through out the day. Don't go too hungary though. Order as healthy as possible. Drink water inbetween your drinks. Just don't go crazy. I know...easier said than done. lol

I have done really well so far this week with my eating. I'm still not doing my exercise. I did do yoga last night so that is something.
